Is it possible to turn off SMPS in STM32U585AII6Q and not to use external inductors and capacitors needed for SMPS?

Thanks in advance,

Nenad

Yes. The chip uses LDO by default. If you don't want SMPS, don't switch to it.

Most low-power-conscious power supplies have power-saving features included, similar to what you have described. There are some considerations to keep in mind.

In this case, SMPS is the power saving option compared to LDO.

0693W00000JNepVQAT.pngOk, so do we need to do something in hardware or software to set usage of LDO only? Can we leave VLXSMPS and V11 pins unconnected? On ST evaluation board B-U585I-IOT02A they connected those pins as shown in the picture in attachment.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dear Nemad,

To clarify a bit your statement,

On a given board set for SMPS, LDO option can works (and is the default start up mode in fact).

But if you don't consider using the SMPS at all, the self can be drop on your HW, not the capacitor however which are required on LDO V11 pads.

    Best regards,

    Antoine
