Question

What is the status of STLINKV3 on USB3 ports on Linux?

Hello,

discussed in earlier threads, STLINKV3 does not appear on USB3 ports on Linux. It does appear on the same physical machine when run on a virtual machine with Virtualbox. Has this problem been realized by the developpers? Is there any solution to expect in a sensible time frame?

Thanks

Short answer: I’m using it under Debian 9.6.

    Longer answer:

    • Compile and install a recent version of OpenOCD
    • Disconnect the on-board ST-Link/V2-1
    • Connect the ST-Link/V3
    • Set up udev-rules
    • Create a project-specific OpenOCD configuration

and enjoy. You’ll find the gory details at https://mbd.kleier.net/integrating-st-link-v3.html.

Okay, my question was not clear. I meant "appear" in STM32CubeProg!

Okay. I just wanted to bolster you up. ☺ Because it is kind of working just now, it can be expected to be integrated into higher environments soon. But, to be honest, there is way to go to reach a comfortable environment. And we require a small shield to connect a power supply and the external ST-Link/V3.
