Question

I cannot get NUCLEO-F072RB to work anymore

I did a series of experiments with a STUSB4500 eval board that needs NUCLEO-F072RB to translate USB to I2C commands. After a couple of weeks I wanted to program new settings to my STUSB4500 device but the nucleo board is no longer working as intended (error message in STUSB4500_GUI_1.09 that nucleo was not detected. Additionally I cannot update the nucleo firmware through the mini USB cable because there is not enough memory.

I also notice that as soon as the nucleo board is plugged into the computer (directly or through STUSB4500) the controller gets hot >60°C

Is there any way to reconfigure the board or is my hardware simply defective for some reason?

    Hi,

If the STM32 chip on the Nucleo board gets very hot (>60°C) when you power it on, it typically means the device has been damaged and it is not working anymore.

You should try to use another Nucleo board. The board cost is cheap ($10).
