STM32L4x3 USB Device connections

Hello,

I am developing a product with the STM32L443 and I want to include a USB connection manly for debug via COM port. The product is self powered therefore I don't need to use VBUS to power the device or recharge a battery.

I have couple of question:

1) what is the best ESD protection for this scenario ?

2) do I need to protect/ connect the VBUS at all? Do I need VBUS sensing? It seems STM32L443 doesn't have this functionality...

3) How is it possible to wake up the uC from standby/shutdown when the USB cable is plugged?
