USB CDC (or whatever else): how do I rename my device?

Almost everything is in the title. Is there a way to rename the device I'm developing.

When I lsusb, it says STMicroelectronics virtual COM port. How do I change that to

MyDeviceName?

Beside this, is there a need to get a vendor ID / product ID? In this case, how / where do

I apply?
