Why does ST32CubeMonitor + DISCO constantly disconnects

I just bought a STM32G071B-DISCO because I was looking at using an ST32 in my USB-C application and I'd hoped this could be an analyzer and a starting point. However it constantly disconnects and loses contact with the board. No refreshing brings it back. Only once did I get it to trace a USB-C PD connection but then a few minutes later it's back to no connect. Do these just not work well or is there some magic I'm missing? So far it's been a pretty disappointing start.

Bad cables and hubs don't help.

On the whole I don't find the robustness or QA to be particularly good on ST tools.

can I have more details on how you use the G0 disco ?

Do you power it on with micro USB ?

Do you use it as a sink, or a spy (blue door closed or open) ?

It's been a while. I already returned this to Mouser since it didn't work and have chosen a Cypress part for production instead.
