USB-PD: STM32G0 with only one CC line configuration question

With a stm32 chip with only one CC line could i connect both of the CC lines together.

• This is a DFP
• I don't need VCON support

If i were to do this could i still figure out what the orientation is?

The primary purpose of the CCx pins is to detect orientation. If you tie them together, you will not be able to detect orientation and some USBPD features may not work.

Well you can also talk over USB PD.  So in theory if there was a message that sent back orientation then this could be solved.  But i guess since the UFP is always connected to CC1,  then there's no way to get the orientation because the host doesn't know what orientation it is.

 

So i guess this is a dumb question.
