Enabling sdmmc3, What will happen?

For my custom board, I will be using emmc on the sdmmc2 and wireless on sdmmc3 so according to this article I have to change linux kernel boot command. Since I am not going to have anything on the sdmmc1 (SD Card) isn't it suppose to boot from emmc without any commands?
