Linux, STM32CubeIDE fails to recognize the true scope of a workspace

Linux, STM32CubeIDE 1.16.1 (as it’s predecessors), shows directories of library in the workspace but outside the project in pale Grey and stricken over as unreachable.
Project→Properties→C/C++General→Paths-and-Symbols→Add→Workspace
Most of the time does not show paths beyond the inner scope – project, forcing me to improvise silly ways to get to the library that is within the workspace.
