STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 on macOS Tahoe 26.2 (Apple Silicon M4): text selection not visible

Ambiente

Sistema operativo Mac Tahoe 26.2 (25C56)

Apple Silicon M4

STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 (x86_64, ejecutándose bajo Rosetta 2)

Asunto

1. Inicie STM32CubeIDE en Rosetta:

arch -x86_64 /Aplicaciones/ST/STM32CubeIDE.app/Contenidos/MacOS/STM32CubeIDE

2.Abra cualquier archivo fuente.

3.Intenta seleccionar texto.

Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.2 (25C56)
Hardware: Apple Silicon M4
IDE: STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 (x86_64, running under Rosetta 2)

Subject

STM32CubeIDE starts correctly, but text selection is not visually rendered anywhere in the IDE (editor, console, or views).

Description

Text selection using either mouse or keyboard is not visually highlighted anywhere in STM32CubeIDE.

Copy/paste operations work normally, which indicates that the text selection exists internally but is not rendered on screen.

Text selection works correctly in all other macOS applications.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch STM32CubeIDE under Rosetta:

    arch -x86_64 /Applications/ST/STM32CubeIDE.app/Contents/MacOS/STM32CubeIDE
  2. Open any source file.

  3. Attempt to select text using mouse or keyboard.

Troubleshooting Performed

Verified Rosetta 2 installation

Reset IDE preferences and workspace

Tested with a clean workspace

Disabled SWT Metal rendering / gesture support via .ini options

The issue persists.

I have the exact same issue on MacOS Tahoe 26.2. @Aimen1 Is there an update or workaround for this?

Hello FOFI,

macOS 26.2 was released in December 2025 after the release of the STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0. Therefore, STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 is supported only on the earlier macOS 26 Tahoe version, as stated in RN114.

The issue will be fixed in a future release.

Hello @Aimen1

Thank you for getting back to me and for being involved in the community. This now makes complete sense to me. Would you be able to share a timeline for the next release? If it is going to take a long time, I am considering downgrading my machine, as I am eager to get started with my STM32F446RE.

There are workarounds available already from users. So sad ST is not providing anything now.
