STVD / Raisonance compiler - inspecting global variables

When debugging an STM8 using the STM8S-Discovery I can't inspect global variables. When I set a break point and add a variable to the watch window in STVD, I get ''no debug info'' in the Value column. Local variables are OK I have no problems inspecting them. I am using ST Visual Develop V4.3.2 and the Raisonance STM8 C compiler/linker V2.44.12.0199. Any pointers would be appreciated.
