Hi all,We are working on developing an LPG level monitoring system using BlueNRG-LPS MCU and VL53 sensor series.I am very new to these specific sensors.Can we have VL53 series installed externally under the metallic cylinder?Are they also using the principle of acoustic impedence?Thanks

Hi，I'm using the VL53L4CX and I  find  that using the xtalk calibration still doesn't completely remove the data from the cover glass. Is there any other way to remove the near distance data?The VL53L0CX can adjust the threshold of a signal by a function, can the LV53L4CX do the same? Thanks

We are planning to implement Auto keystone and Auto Focus using VL53L5CX TOF sensor. Do you have any driver support for this particular implementation.?? Hi All,I want to port VL53L4CX bare driver to my M0+ MCU (36KB SRAM) however it cannot fit into RAM (.bss)What's RAM requirement of VL53L4CX bare driver ?(I used VL53L1CX ULD and VL53L4CD ULD driver that's ok) or how to trim down the memory requirement ? BR,Sam

 From the user manual "A Guide for Using the Artificial Intelligence Enabler VL53L7CH and VL53L8CH Multizone Time-of-Flight (ToF) Sensors" -- specifically the "Histogram Configuration" section -- it mentions that we can use 'start_bin', 'num_bins', and 'sub_sample' to configure the CNH data. I've implemented this configuration using the Example_12_cnh_data.c file, and it works well.My first question is, how many bins are there in the device's raw histogram bins?My second question is, how can I get all raw histogram bins?     Currently, I find that in 4x4 mode, I can obtain a maximum of 75 bins, and in 8x8 mode, a maximum of 18 bins. Is it possible to access all raw histogram bins by editing the API's source code? In other words, assuming the device's raw histogram bins number is 100, how can I obtain 4x4x100 CNH in 4x4 mode, and how to get 8x8x100 CNH in 8x8 mode?Thanks- Jian

Hello.Today I will test the VL53L8A evaluation version in the outdoor (cloudy) test data, the code is automatically generated by the STM32Cube. I irradiated VL53L8A to the wall, at about 1.75m, with almost no data. At 4m, the serial port directly showed no data. Is there any problem with my use?In the future, I may use 950nm narrowband filter in outdoor test, any suggestions?The picture shows the measured values around 4m.

Hello all,I am having difficulty using multiple VL53L5CX sensors on the same I2C bus on my Jetson Nano. I am able to get a single one working but not multiple. I am following the procedure in the documentation by pulling the LPn low of the sensor I don't want to change the address of and then changing the address of the other sensor, then pulling the LPn pin high again. When I run  my program it outputs the following:Opened ST TOF Dev = 11Opened ST TOF Dev = 12testSensor detectedSensor InitializedSet Address failed 254.When I run i2cdetect -y -r 1 it shows 2 devices detected at 0x20 and 0x29, but I am not changing the address of the other sensor to 0x20. hi ...how are you .....what cause the sensor(Vl6180X) when it gets the power (3.24 volt if I connect it to 3.3v output pin and 5.4 volt if I connect it to vu output pin ) and in both cases it didnot respond and the led light in it didnot blink or lights up...what are the main reasons behind that ....the auther of the project code his design uses espminid1 and he told me I can use the main code on esp8266 nodemcu v3 as that is the one I bought as I found it only in the store (my design uses nodemcu v3 ) ....so what are the hardware differences or issues that cause that ?

I am trying to use the VL53L4CD sensor in our application, however I am seeing that while using a black latex glove almost on top of the surface (distance of less than 5mm) that it reports distances > 300mm.  It seems to read okay with a range of 10mm or higher.  Our application needs to range fairly close 35 to 1mm.  How can I resolve this?

When powered with 3.6V (both AVDD and IOVDD), VL53L5CX does most of the time does not enter LP mode (via the I2C command).At 3.5V most of the time LP mode is entered correctly, and rarely - incorrectly. At 3.4V, LP mode is entered always correctly.According to the datasheet, all of these are valid combinations.Searching in the documentation so far does not explain the results.Could anybody shed some light on the subject (else, it will be needed to modify the hardware)?  

Hello!I have never used a Jetson Nano before and am rather unfamiliar with lower level programming. I have a VL53L4CX attached to the correct Jetson nano pins and can see the device when I run i2cdetect -r -y 1 at address 0x29. My question is whats next. I've done a lot of research online and have no idea how to incorporate this into an actual program that reads the distance detected by the sensor. The goal of the project is to attach 8 of these sensors to a MUX and then get data from all of them by changing i2c ports. I have seen posts referring to the linux driver, which I have downloaded but don't know how to install or use. I have a python program that sends bytes over i2c, is it as simple as sending a specific message over i2c and then reading a response? If so, what is that message?

i want to interface vl53l5cx sensor with nordic Nrf52840 board but in stm project there are too many register read and write so just i want few register for get the distance from tof sensor so which minimum registers i have to configure ? and initialize of  sensor rd multi function used so it is not working properly  provide me support

Hi，I have two questions about the SPAD:1: How does the L4CX select which part to turn off and which part to turn on when the signal is so large that the SPAD needs to be scaled down? Because i have a Lens installed on the light receiving area,  I'm worried if the spad  turn off  the signal-sufficient part .2: Is it possible to adjust my SPAD area by ROI? The manual of the L4CX says that this function is not supported, but I found the API function . Below I would like to explain the problem I'm having:In order to increase the  signal at the far end, I installed a spotlight lens on the light receiving part.I then noticed that when detecting the appearance and disappearance of white objects in close distance, the data returned by the L4CX was not very stable, with continuous error reporting and data abnormality.I found that when the anomaly occurred, both the signal and the spad were abnormal, so I suspect it was caused by the spad opening position.I've

Can I ask you about the VL53L8 series.Can the VL53L8 series use multiple at the same level at the same time, the number is greater than 4, will the middle affect each other, I may need to go through several 8*8 to form a larger depth map? Is the distance measurement in the TOF depth map obtained by this sensor in the middle of each small matrix?

Hi...how are you ...I made aproject using vl6180x with esp8266 nodemcu v3 ....sometimes the power reached it and worked and other times the power didnot reach it and in that time i have to unplug and replug the esp to the pc port or reset the esp until the power reached it....i connect the sensor to 3.3v pin altought I found some projects connect it to 5v but I afraid to do that or it will burn ....so what is the right connections? I found some projects on google ..they connect it to 5v also like I said sometimes power reached and sometimes not when I connect to 3.3v .....so can I try to connect to 5v maybe i can get stable steady power with no cut off....or how I made sure that sensor can handle 5v and it will not burn if I connect to 5v ?

The VL53L0X sensor chips (33 of them) i bought from Digikey isn't working in my PCBA. I tried to use sensor from the module which i purchased early on is working fine in my PCBA & shows distance readings. I suspect the batch had manufacturing defects as I bought it on January 15 2024.Can someone help me with the solution ? 

Hello,I evaluated the VL53L5CX and it works pretty well. Unfortunately I cannot use it in my application because it has a RAM based firmware (flash memory consumption and maybe boot time also).1) Is there a way to easily find out which of the sensors are RAM / ROM based?2) Will there also be a ROM based version of the VL53L5CX?

Hello all, We will probably need to go for custom cover panels for our sensors, however, we could not find a clear list of requirements to follow.Material: The product's datasheet (DS13812 - Rev 6) states that "the VL53L4CD achieves the best ranging performance in various ambient lighting conditions and for a wide range of cover glass materials." We were considering PMMA or PEI + PC as Gilisymo's / Hornix's cover panels for the VL53L4CD use these materials. Are there other materials worth considering?Thickness and air gap: We came across AN5231 - Rev 1 that provides cover window guidelines for the VL53L1X sensor (not the VL53L4CD).  In Section 5.2.6 ST states that "for sub 1000 mm ranging– Total air gap and cover window thickness = 2 mm maximum– Cover window thickness <1.5 mm and air gap <0.5 mm"Is this also valid for the VL53L4CD, or are the recommended air gap and cover window thickness values different? Please let me know if there is document
