Hi!I've been testing the VL53L4CX sensor with its own API. I want to know if I can use the VL53L4CD ULD on my L4CX sensor and achieve the same performance as if I were using a L4CD ULD on the L4CD sensor. Hello ST team,I am using the full API for the VL53L1 TOF sensor, and I noticed that there are two versions of the full library available. One library (en.STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10) is named vl53lx_api.c, and the other library (STSW-IMG019 VL53L1CB_BareDriver_6.6.18.2652) is named vl53l1_api.c. My understanding is that the library with "vl53lx" in the name should be a universal library that works with all TOF sensors, right? Both of these libraries seem to work with the VL53L1 TOF sensor. Our product aims to be compatible with both the VL53L3 and VL53L1 sensors while saving Flash space. Is there any risk in using the en.STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10 library to drive the VL53L1 sensor?Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi everyone: I am working on a project with VL53L8CX Time-of-Flight sensor from Pololu. I integrated it with NUCLEO-H755ZI-Q board over SPI interface based on the example and driver provided in the STMicro en.STSW-IMG040 software package. I configured the SPI3 (MCLK, MISO, and MOSI) on the CN7 to communicate with the sensor. I also have PA4 for SPI3_NSS and PC7 for /PLn signal. The project compiled successfully. However, I believe I am not able to read the registers properly. The firmware reads the "device_id" and "revision_id" from the sensor in the vl53l8cx_is_alive() to determine if the sensor exists. The return values different every time I tried to read. I was able to capture the protocols on the scope, and confirmed the reading values are match with the data shown on the scope. The following scope capture shows the communication:1. Sending 0x00 to address 0x7fff. The yellow signal is for the MCLK, blue for MOSI, purple for MISO, and green for /CS.2. In order to run the program and get the detection for the person and get some detection readings which file and what are the steps should I follow? I have extracted the STSW-IM048 file and I have played with the EVK interface and now I am struggling to use this algorithm to implement this system to my robot.

So far, I have successfully implemented tilt and tap detection features.As the next step in the development process, I aim to integrate an activity state monitoring feature (e.g., detecting walking, running, or stationary states). To achieve this, I plan to leverage the Machine Learning Core (MLC) of the LSM6DSOX sensor. Can the STEVAL-CAM-M0I evaluation board used together with the VD55G0 promodule? ST's marketing material seems to suggest it can, but looking at the schematics of the STEVAL-CAM-M0I the power rails are turned on in the order VCORE first, then VANA, then VDDIO. However, in the VD55G0 datasheet it is mentioned in section 8.3 that AVDD (VANA in the eval board) has to be turned on after VCORE and VDDIO. Is the datasheet outdated? Other sensors like VD55G1 or VD56G3 do not have any power sequencing requirements.Thanks a lot!Michael

Hello, community! I recently purchased the SensorTile Box Pro to conduct various educational experiments. It connects via Bluetooth to my phone, but when I try to connect it to my laptop using the MEMS STUDIO application, it does not work via either USB or Bluetooth. I receive a red error message stating that the board is not identified. I have tried on three different PCs, both on Windows 10 and Windows 11, but it still does not work. All the necessary drivers have been installed, and I have no explanation for why it is not being recognized. I should mention that my laptop is running Windows 10. Can you help me?

Hey everyone, I’m working on a low-power motion tracking project using an LSM6DSL IMU to capture 3D acceleration and gyroscope data. This sensor is interesting because it has an "Always-On" mode, which is supposed to keep motion detection running with minimal power consumption. I came across this article: LSM6DSL iNEMO Inertial Module – Always-On 3D Accelerometer and 3D Gyroscope, which explains the features and power management modes, but I still have some questions: What’s the most efficient way to configure the power modes to maximize battery life while maintaining good motion tracking performance? Has anyone used the embedded finite state machine (FSM) or machine learning core (MLC) in this IMU to reduce processing overhead on the MCU? Any real-world tips for reducing noise and drift when using this sensor in a wearable or mobile setup? Looking forward to insights from anyone who has worked with LSM6DSL or similar IMUs!

Hi,I am really new to this sensor and I was able to get the polling mode working.I am planning for full 6.6k odr rate and FIFO samples can be 256 when INT1 should be triggered or whenever possible so I can use FIFO .I am really confused with the order / things to keep in mind to properly get this working. Hi ST team, I"m developing an application of proximity sensors on a robot with VL53L3CX. The robot moves not very fast and we have already implemented proximity sensors with  VL53L0X on it. Now we want to add multi-target capabilities with L3CX chip.The problem is we want higher multi-target distance resolution with the new sensor. With some experiments we found the min detected separation between objects/targets is around 70cm, and as I found in previous questions/posts you only formally support 80cm separation/resolution.  If we don't need long range, for example if 80cm to 100cm is the max range, is it possbile to customize a driver to support higher multi-target/object distance resolution for our application?Thanks in advance.

I have successfully used the STEVAL-EVK-U0l with Windows where I connect the USB cable to my Windows device and interact with it via the free software provided ST, this software being called STSW-IMG501.  I would like to start developing some algorithms on the PC, using the Eval board and USB connection.  These algorithms are OpenCV based and would initially be written in Python.  Since OpenCV and Python work well with webcam type streaming devices and the STSW-IMG501 has a streaming output window, it seems that it should be straightforward to connect that stream as a webcam in Windows.  However, there does not seem to be a simple way to do this, hence my query.  I have tried querying all Webcams in Python both when the EVAL board is connected to the eval software and when not, but neither scenario offers up the device as a webcam. So my question is, can I set up the STEVAL_EVK-U0l to be a webcam on windows, and if so, how?For completeness, I will ult

When calling to clear the interrupt of the sensor I wait for the pin to go HIGH again but it never happens. I follow this flow:set i2c addressset low power configset signal threshold to 5000set sigma threshold to 20set intermeasurment ms to 100 and the timing budget to 80set interrupt threshold to be 1300 and only trigger when below this valuestart rangingThe sensor immediately triggers an interrupt and clearing it does not clear it. It stays low. The interrupt pin has a 10k pull-up. 

Hello, I am encountering an issue with getting my VL53L4CD sensor to begin recording data. I have replicated the provided driver's set up in my own code however, after writing for the sensor to stop ranging in order to set the range timing, the GPIO 1 pin then never begins rising and falling again and instead stays low.  I will attach the link to my code below, if anyone could provide any insight it would be much appreciated. code link  Thanks in advance.Luca

Hi all,I'm trying to get the VL53L8CX ToF sensor working for a university project, this is my first time using it. I made a little breakout PCB for it and soldered it, measured resistance between al neighbouring pins, none of them were shorts or open circuits which to me confirms that the sensor was soldered correctly. The breakout PCB includes 1.8V <-> 3.3V level shifting, here's the full circuit diagram:I've connected it to an ESP32, but it seems like I can't communicate with the sensor over SPI. As I understand, the sensor should be mirroring the given register adres from the MOSI pin to the MISO pin, but there's no activity on MISO, the signal just seems to follow the CS signal. Hello ST team, I have established communication with the TOF while using the Full library（The example file used is STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10.） of VL53L3, and I successfully read the ID (which should prove that my I2C communication is normal). However, no matter what I do, I cannot obtain the ranging data. I have a problem with identifying the sensor type from the marking on the housing. One is LSM6DSO32XTR and the other is ASM330LHHXTR. Unfortunately they came in a bag without a description on the label. One is marked T3 [QR code] 233 and the other LC [QR code] 307.Is there a way to identify them without attaching them to the board? Unfortunately the datasheet did not help.Thanks

Hello, I am testing STEVAL-MKSBOX1V1 connected via USB to a Raspberry Pi4. On the SensorTile.Box I have installed the firmware version 3.4.6 or 3.4.7 (tried both these versions), since the last version 3.4.9 has a bug with the application I am running. The application is the classic "Vibration Monitor" app that is present by default on the SensorTile.Box, with some little modifications (expert mode): instead of sending data over BTLE interface, I have defined to send the output data of this application over the USB port, which is connected with the Raspberry PI4. After creating my custom application on my Android app, I click on PLAY and the custom firmware is flahed via BT on the SensorTile.Box. On Raspberry Pi Terminal interface the device is recognized from that moment on as "ST Virtual COM Port". All perfectly working, since the red led on the device starts flashing (i presume it means: "sending data") and I am able to read in my Python script the sent data

I've been trying to create a mesh for 2 weeks now and even just send data from a card to a pc via bluetooth but I'm completely stuck and I really need help. I have 3 sensortile cards. box (STEVAL-MKSBOX1V1) I saw that it had v5.2 BlueNRG-M2 and so normally I could make a mesh using function pack or even the application ios st ble mesh. but I'm totally blocked I wonder if this is even possible.Can anyone give me some pointers, particularly on how to integrate the function pack or something else?

Hello,I am trying to get histograms off of the VL53L8CH sensor. I have the sensor hooked up to an F401 and I'm using the official driver from here: https://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stsw-img043.html.When I start ranging with the sensor through the driver, it starts sending binary data over the serial port. I believe the format of this data is described in general terms in section 5.8 of the user guide for the sensor (UM3183). But it's not very specific and it would be quite a pain to write my own function to decode the data. I believe the EVK software (from the link above) includes code that reads in this data from the serial port and saves it to a csv and/or numpy array. However the EVK software is pre-compiled so it's not easy to use this code myself. Is there example code for decoding data from the serial port, or can the code used in the EVK software be made available?Thank you.

helloI've been trying to use the LSM6DSV on it's steval-mki239a board with a nucleo board (nucleo-l476rg) via SPI and the lsm6dsv is not answering whatever the configuration of my SPI is.The sensor is fine since it work with the steval-mki109v3 board ans the MEMS studioI checked the SPI signal on the steval mki109v3 with a logical analyzer and found several odd things but the sensor is answeringI don't know if it is my analyzer but the MISO line is always stuck at 1 and the level of MOSI are strange but the sensor understand the message and answer with the right value (WHO_AM_I register:  MOSI should send 0x0F and MISO answer 0x70)On the other end I tried to recreate the same configuration on my nucleo board but the sensor doesn't answer any commandI tried:full duplex master CPOL=1 CPHA=1with external pull up on MISOfull duplex master CPOL=1 CPHA=0with external pull up on MISOI tried in master half duplexwith external pull up on MISOI tried master half duplex with CPHA =0 (1 edge)
