I have a powerSTEP01 driving a stepper motor with the coil current set to 2A. However, the current flowing in the coils is unstable when it is flowing in one direction:Sorry about the image quality - I have an old 'scope, so had to use a photo ;)The image shows the coil current as the motor steps. The current is stable at 2A when the coil is energised in one direction, but not in the other.Any ideas what can cause this?

Hi! We have designed a custom board using STWLC38 but its not working. We also have the Evaluation kit of STWLC38 and Im using the same coil to test my custom board. Im getting roughly 0.6V at VRECT pins after nearly every second.  I aslo have attached my schematics. Please help me out with this. Regards,

Hi,I am working with a battery pack and the BMS. I have connected everything correctly to the board and after a first run everything seemed to work properly, the board was receiving commands from the MCU through the translator ISOSPI, and the green led blinked and remained on, signaling to be successfully in the 'normal' state. Later though, I had to disconnect the BMS from the battery pack. Therefore, I unplugged everything safely and separated the BMS from the batteries. Though, upon reconnecting the board to the batteries, the green led remained on for some seconds, and then went off, something that looked strange to me. Indeed, when I plugged everything back, MCU, translator and BMS, the BMS seemed to not respond anymore to the communication, and the green led D2 was always complitely off. I started to wonder why, and by looking on the datasheet I came to the conclusion that I might have entered the reset mode. Is it possible? I thought that could be either a sleep state or a reset

Hello,I am planning to use the SPV1050 in buck-boost configuration.According to the datasheet, in this mode the charging current (I_batt) has a minimum value of 30 mA.I have two questions:Why is this specified as a minimum value? Can the actual charging current in buck-boost mode exceed 30 mA?Does this parameter limit the current drawn from the solar panel?For context, my solar panel can deliver up to 110 mA (at 7 V_OC). I am wondering if the SPV1050 is suitable for this panel.Thanks in advance,

I am debugging a VIPer26-based flyback converter designed, which fails to regulate and is stuck at a lower voltages. The primary issue is a severely overheating RCD snubber resistor, indicating excessive power dissipation. Paradoxically, the Vds waveform on drain does not show a sharp, high-voltage spike; instead, the waveform appears to be clamped at a high level.My theory is that the reflected output voltage is much higher than designed. The snubber, which should only be clamping the fast leakage inductance spike, is instead being forced to conduct for a longer duration to clamp the entire primary voltage plateau. This would force it to dissipate an enormous amount of energy, explaining the extreme heat on the snubber resistor.Additionally, the VDD supply for the VIPer26 is unstable. Instead of regulating at the expected 15V, it oscillates between approximately 10.5V and 13.5V. This behavior, often called 'hiccup mode,' suggests the controller is repeatedly trying to start and t

HelloI want to control the torque of a PMSM (from a small micro-turbine). I guess that I should use FOC. I have found a Low-voltage high-current inverter motor board UM3489, but I do not know if it can be used for generators. It seems that it only works with motors. Theoretically there is not conceptual difference between both types of operation.I have also seen STDES-VIENNARECT, which has a Vienna rectifier, but it seems that is not valid for low voltatges (around 24, 48 Volts) Does anybody have any experience with this or any other inverter controlling a generator?Thank you

Regarding ST1PS02. Which is current drained from logic inputs D0 D1 D2 when connected to Vin?Is it safe to pullup them to VOUT, i.e., can it cause startup issues?Thanks for the attention.

In particular I'm looking to change the inductance of the coil as the 8uH specified has only one possible product currently available on Digikey and it is quite expensive per piece. Do you have any tools/references/simulations/etc. for tuning this LC circuit?

Hello, I am designing a circuit using VNH5019A-E motor driver.Is there a problem if the capacitor is installed on the motor output pins OUTA and B? The value is about 10uF. For example, the charging and discharging of the capacitor leads to situations where low speeds such as PWM 10% and 20% cannot be controlled. Is it possible to not use capacitors for the output? If possible, to what extent is it possible? This is to remove the noise from the EMC/EMI test.   Additionally, is it correct that this motor driver can't use PWM 100% because it has H bridge structure? Because it requires switching of high side and low side FET? If so, if I set it to 100% and give the PWM signal, does it operate at 99%?? Or does it operate incompletely? For example, it generates noise..

Hi Sir,Would it be feasible to achieve an 80A peak current on this board simply by modifying the OCP circuit hardware and the corresponding firmware settings in X-CUBE-MCSDK? Or will thermal constraints and the PCB design itself (e.g., trace width, layout) prevent this from being a viable solution?( This is considering that the Power MOSFET used on the board, the STL160N4F7, has a much higher pulsed current rating according to its datasheet.)Thank you.

I was design 19 volt regulated power supply, but I don't know the exact value for the transistors, and I noticed at the voltsim output didn't reach the maximum 19 volt output, can anyone help me for the solution for my design, regards.@all 

Posted on October 25, 2016 at 20:05Hi All,I want to make a BLDC motor driver board using L6235N DIP.I wired all the components on the breadboard as per schematic diagram and component list is given in ST Application Note AN1625 page no. 35-37.I am using PWM from MCU to control the speed of the BLDC motor(Max Speed 3000RPM). Now motor is running and break, Direction, Tacho all these features are working fine but I have a little problem to control the speed .generally, when I set the PWM duty Cycle 0% Motor should be stop but still motor is running arround 350RPM. PWM output is connected with Vref pin no. 13 of L6235N. I am unable to control the speed less than 350RPM but more than 350RPM Speed control is working fine.  When I connect the PIN no. 13 (Vref) to 0V(Signal Ground) nothing changed motor still running at 350RPM but it should be stopped. I am using all the components as per given Application note AN1625.I am unable to find out the problem. Any help would be appreciat

i am using MOC3063 as an optocoupler and BTA24-800CW as a triac .with 220 V ac and it worked fine (switch on and off) with the 10W,5W,3W resistive loads but when using 60 W incandescent lump it only turn on but not off   i am using this basic circuit . Even tried with many different resistance value (Rled=100,R=330)

Hi Sir, For a system with -48V and 0V (Ground) power rails, can I use the STEF01 with the following connections?Connect the IC's GND pin to the system -48V rail.Connect the IC's VCC pin to the system 0V rail.  Will the chip work correctly and safely in this configuration?Thank you
