Power management

I'm trying to use STPM32 with XZM-CT50A01, and the series resistor = 6.2 ohm. I thought ks = Rb/N = 6.2/1000. But I cannot measure the expected current.The load was 50mA but STPM32 respond 1.2A.The software may be OK because we have confirmed with EVALSTPM33.I'd like to know the Ks setting is correct or not. Maybe our board has already damaged, or the board has cold soldering??Can you advise me if the Ks calculation is correct?  

Hello,I'm developing a buck converter exactly like the schematic below. The only difference is the STTHL06 (D2) diode in the feedback loop. In my case, I'm using an ES1J diode, which has a 35ns recovery time. My problem is the output voltage, which shows a lot of ripple when I use the ES1J, but when I replace the ES1J with an RS1M, which has a 500ns recovery time, the problem disappears. Why does this happen? I appreciate any help.  

Hi ST-Communitydoes anyone know what the off-impedance of the DIAG pin is when the chip is not powered or UVLO? There is a grey resistor to GND in the "Figure 1. Block diagram" with no description. The datasheet also states a max. leakage current in "Table 8. Protection and diagnostic". (330k?). In the truth table is only an "X" but no comment about the values. Any ideas? Thanks for helpFelix

Hello there, I am planning to design an environmental IoT sensor node and i would like to incorporate the SPV1050 IC since it covers my project needs. I did extensive reading of the datasheet and there are some things I would like to get cleared:1. does the dc-dc converter have a dedicated bus for BATT charging?2. if no (probably that's the case as I understood) what happens if there is a load connected to the store pin like an mcu, under voltage is triggered and pass element get open, how the battery is going to charge. what happens if voltage at the pin never manages to trigger over-voltage threshold for the pass transistor to close and charge the battery. The controller initiates the start-up sequence but after a few pulses it stops permanently.I describe the application first:Vin=385VVout=39 to 60 VTransformer magnetization inductance Lm=127uHResonant tank inductor: 42uHResonant tank capacitor: 60nFThe programming of the IC is as follows:RFmin 8.5kCF 330pFRss 15.3kUsing internal bootstrap circuitryThis gives an startup frequency of around 200kHz and a minimum frequency of 75kHz. Once the LINE input is set, the controller does correctly the first LVG pulse of 10us, waits around 50us as expected and innitiates the switching, but after a few cycles, something goes wrong and a transition of the LVG from ON to OFF does not occur at the expected time. The next cycle the switching is permanently stopped. I have no clues of what is going on. The only fact that bothers me is that the Vcc is above 17V, so the internal zener is having some current. Dear Community,I was desinged a SMPS for my circuit which belowed picture. Its working on 110V AC and not any problem. But when I connect it to 220V AC output voltage is going down slowly and about 1 minute later its go to shutdown. I can not find any solution. Pls urgent help   

We are using Part.no: L9396 for Wheel Speed Sensor circuit Designing and we chosen the same part , in  that referred some documents for designing .which is provided on online and STMicroelectronics  website. But we need some more  clarity to designing the Schematics . In the IC ,there are some Buck controller, LDO, VCORE Regulators are shown in application diagram. For us we only chosen for WSS desired pins for our application , here we need a clarity what are the regulator circuits need to design .Which is support for WSS schematic designing.

I'd like to use L9963E to measure the AC impedance of the battery at 1 kHz. It requires applying 100 mA current at 1 kHz to the battery and measuring the voltage at 1 kHz, probably with 10 kSample/second or more.  Is it possible? Or should I use another product?

Hello There! I have bought EVAL- SCS001V1 sink device for my application in which I need the output as 12V/2A from the mentioned sink device. I came across below problems and I seek help on it. 1) Problem related to STSW-STUSB002 GUI version 2.0. The first problem is with the GUI version 2.0 as specified. When I made hardware connections as mentioned in the quick start document and I tried to connect the Nucleo- F072RB with the GUI 2.0, I got an error which says " The Parameter is Incorrect". and I'm unable to connect the hardware with the GUI 2.0. I have resolved this issue by using the previous version ( STSW-STUSB002 GUI 1.09 ). So my hardware got detected in this version and I was able to program or write the NVM successfully. In the Connection Status of the GUI 1.09 it showed that " OK STUSB4500_L  Detected (COM19), at address 0x28 (I2C bus 1)" sharing image below. 2) Problem related to the usage of the source device and selecting desired PDO's. Hello!Does anybody happen to know that of the shelf transformer would be fitting for a 65W isolated AC/DC flyback converter based on VIPERGAN65 ? I can not find any recomenndation in the documentation of the EVLVIPGAN65PD evaluation board.I would also like to know the total footprint of such an application.The EVLVIPGAN65PD consists of three boards and includes a USB driver with a total footprint based on the gerber data of: 23.1 mm x 35.2 mm + 69.2 mm x 35.4 mm + 23.1 mm x 30.1 mm summing up to aproxx 40 cm^2. Thank you for your help in advance! 

Hello Team,  We want to use your EVALSTDRIVE101 kit to drive our BLDC motor in sensored and sensorless mode. As given in the overview this board can be integrated with any STM32 microcontroller but can you suggest which STM32 board we can buy so that we can directly plug in into the connector provided on kit? we want to avoid using jumper wire for making connection between driver and controller.Is there any document  where connection of  EVALSTDRIVE101 with STM32 is mention or any example for reference. And one more thing though it is written it can operate in both sensored and sensorless mode but want to confirm again.Sensorless mode will operate using back emf input right? Regards,Sayali

Hello, I checked the L9961 datasheet for information on the cell voltage protection function, but couldn't find the operating voltage.  Other products usually provide Over Voltage Protection (OVP) for cells, but in the case of L9961, only the cell measurement range is mentioned.  Could you clarify if voltage limitation needs to be set solely through I2C communication between the BMS IC and MCU chips?

    Good afternoon ST engineer。I'm developing a DC motor control hardware using the L9945 in H brigde mode 。But facing a problem: the datasheet haven't any description about the Mosfet Pre-driver peak drive current when using external drive resistors. Without the currunt,I can't select a right drive resistors to limte the drive current for each channel。    I will be grateful for you to tell me how much it is. thank you.

I have a circuit with pmic STPMIC1APQR and STM32MP157DAA1 processor. For reference, I take STM32MP157A-EV1.There are cases when STPMIC1APQR does not turn on every time you turn on the power (1 time out of 20-50 turns on). At the same time, the input power of 5V (VIN) is present on it, but there is no output voltage and therefore the processor does not start. When such a situation occurs, only PONKEY_N (PIN 17) helps, then pmic restarts and turns on.Please help.I am attaching a schematic and a piece of the pcb.

Hello,I have a Nucleo L476RG that I plug onto a PCB that I designed (used as a power input) and to my computer (only used for data transfert).My issue is that I would like to plug both to the Nucleo, but only use the PCB for its power supply.Moreover, I don't want the Nucleo to power the PCB nor the computer to power either of them.Could you please help me on this topic?Thanking you in advance for your consideration.Best regards,Claire

Hi, i'm trying to power an usb-c device that needs 5v 2A, with a power supply (5v 8A) that doesn't support power delivery. For doing that i tried to use the evaluation board EVAL-SCS002V1 connecting the power supply wires (+ and -) to the green connector and the usb-c one to the device to power on. The result is that only the board blu led is turning on that means "default USB current".How can i negotiate for more current? What am i doing wrong?Please help me :folded_hands:.Regards,Giacomo

Hello everybody,I was designed a SMPS with Viper222XS for my project. I need to 400ma current for my project. its start with 100mA at soft start and going to 400mA immidiatly after pushhing run button. But I have some problem at here. SMPS was goes to down when current request is going to 400mA. I was build E-Design shema without coil configuration. Because of I could not find 1.2mH coil, so I used to 1mH coil at there. I guess Viper goes to shutdown because of over current protection.Is there anyway to diable Viper's over current protection. Any else how can I have stable output with this currentPlease urgent help

Hello.I want to control multiple solenoids using multiple FET switches and isolate all these solenoids from the circuit in case of trouble using large FET switches.But I got into trouble looking at the specs. I don't know how long the IC can withstand the current.For example, if you look at the data sheet of VN9004AJTR, the current limitation (type.) is 108A, and the Iout says Internally limited.The Ron also says On-state resistance / Iout = 15 A, TJ = 25°C / 4.2 mΩ.I use a battery voltage of 12-14V. Which number is correct?108?15?Is 108A the limit current value that the IC can withstand in the event of a short circuit problem, and is 15A the maximum current value that can be output under normal conditions?It's an urgent situation. Please help me.Or is the Reverse DC output current value a value that can withstand? I have a load that flows about 8-9A when all the loads are activated.

I am using Viper27HD integrated circuit. RC snubber structure is not recommended for the diode in the secondary output on the datasheet and edesignsuite.Resonance occurs between the secondary leakage inductance of the transformer and the parasitic capacitance of the diode and the peak level increases even more in the reverse voltage and damages the diode.Why RC snubber is not recommended for the diode in the secondary output? 

I am designing a new SMPS for my project I need 350mA at 15V but I could not get more than 100ma. when I reach to 100mA output voltage was start to decrease. when current goes to 200mA, output is like a sinusodial signal from 9v to 15V. I design my SMPS with E-design suit but its not working stable. I need urgent help    

Good morning, I have got a couple quick questions about the TCPP01-M12 chip:Does the OVP protection on CC lines works passively? (no voltage on VCC pin) I am talking about connecting/disconnecting USB plug conditions.What happens when there is permanent VBUS-to-CC short?I want to use the chip in conditions where the whole device is powered with 5 V and consuming less than 500 mA in total, no PD required. Is there any difference between these two configurations?Taken from the datasheet example:Slightly modified by me: In the second case I assuming that the chip would check if VBUS voltage is within the limit (dead battery resistors would be present), next the VBUS would power LDO from which the 3.3 V signals would power the chip and disable dead battery resistors allowing to use of the external ones. Am I correct about my assumptions? Does any of these designs is favorable?
