ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

I'm trying out the ST25R3911B-DISCO board to evaluate how to read data from multiple 14443A RFID tags. Under the Polling tab I can see all the UIDs for the tags near the board.  However, when I go over to the NFC Type 2 tab, if I select "Configuration" and then "WUPA->Active", the UID field will always be filled by a particular UID.  I can read data from that tag just fine.  How can I activate the other tags so I can read the data on them?  I tried typing a different UID from a nearby tag into the UID field but that just gets overwritten when I click on "WUPA->Active".  Is it possible to individually read data from any tag that shows up in the Polling scan?Thanks-R

This is my first time developing a project to read NFC using the ST25R3916B (I bought the Discovery kit for testing). The first thing I did was open CubeMX, but unfortunately, the ST25R3916B is not listed as a supported device for code generation. Then, I downloaded the sample code for the dev kit, but according to the documentation I read, the ST25R3916B chip is on the Daughter board, while the sample code is for controlling the Mother board (without using the ST25R3916B).Does anyone have sample code for the ST25R3916B, or can you suggest any software similar to CubeMX that can generate code for the ST25R3916B?Thank you very much.

I'm needing to get readings from more than one st25r3916 at once for a project using the pc (and java sdk). I'm unsure as to how to do this because"STReader stReader = new STReader(); stReader.connect();"Always connects to the same reader - the only sucess i've had so far is by running 2 instances of the program which isn't fit for purpose.Can anybody help?Thomas

Hi,I use the component ST25R3911B. I'm able to tune some antennas, no issues.But, now I have to use some RF switches to drive several antennas. Unfortunaly the RF switches have a resistor Ron and this drops the output power of the RF reader. The tuning is fine if I look at the smith chart but the power is divided by two.The connectic is: EMC -> Tuning (C1+C2) -> RF switch -> antennas (x4)I'm wondering if there is any way to increase the power, independently of the tuning? The goal would be to have the same power with and with the RF switch.I looked on the datasheet and I do not find a registrer which boost the signal or whatever.Furthermore, is it possible to use some hardware component to drawn the max power from the reader? Maybe using a balun with 20 Ohm?Any help is the welcome :)Best Regards,Loic

Hi, I'm trying to compile NFC Tap for iOS but no luck so far.  I've resolved the following issues, by following the advice of other posts on this forum:Add st25sdk header search pathRemove ST25NFCAppClip from buildFix signing and j2objc pathAdd st25sdk framework from en.stsw-st25ios005.zipChange bundle identifierAfter these fixes, the project still fails to compile due to the errors shown below.  I'm suspecting  an issue with the j2objc version.  I'm using the latest from their repo.  Is there any recommended version that I should use?Xcode Version: 16.1STSW-ST25IOS002 version: 7.6.0STSW-ST25IOS005 version: 1.0.0Thanks! 

Hi thereStarting pointI am currently working on porting our NFC implementation from the ST25R3916 to the ST25R100.We will also replace our current library (Lib-NFC & ST_25r & RFAL) and use the current libraries (RFAL and NDEF) from ST.For the migration I currently use a NUCLEO-U575ZI-Q board and two NFC shields (X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 with the current ST25R3916 and X-NUCLEO-NFC09A1 with the new ST25R100).I already successfully migrated our implementation to the new library. I'm able to poll for NFCA and NFCV tags using the X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 shield.Issue DescriptionWith the X-NUCLEO-NFC09A1 shield connected, I'm not able to discover any NFCA or NFCV tags. Communication with the ST25R100 seems to work just fine (no errors).gNfcDev.state enters states: RFAL_NFC_STATE_START_DISCOVERY, RFAL_NFC_STATE_POLL_TECHDETECT and RFAL_NFC_STATE_LISTEN_TECHDETECT (which indicates that no tag has been detected) May you have a clue why ST25R100 sees nothing?Any support is highly appreciated.Best,S

Hello everyone!I’m developing a device that will include an NFC Tag, and I’ve chosen the ST25DV64KC. This Tag needs to be mounted on a case and communicate with the "mainboard" of my project via I²C. Therefore, I’m working on a small circuit that will allow the Tag to be placed on the case and connected to my main circuit (which features an ST microcontroller and additional components).I’ve already designed the circuit for the ST25DV64KC, but now I need to develop the PCB antenna. HiI`m going to develop a app to display image on ePaper by coreNFC ISO15693, but i have only 20sec to transmit data and display image when phone connect on epaper .  I can use session.repolling() to extend life scycle of NFC session lower iphone13 or below, but else version (iphone15, iphone16) is not working .As far as I know, i have 60sec to trans data when i to begin a new NFCTagReaderSession, but actullary i have only 20sec. If I need more time to transmit, what solution i can do? Thanks.

Hello, I have a question for NFC R/W mode (read/write EEPROM with ST25DV16K)tag : ST25DV16K - Nfc tag 4 clickreader : STM32 + X-Nucleo_Nfc08a11. When writing data to the ST25DV16K board via RF, how long does it take to read the data via I2C?2. It takes 5ms to write 1Block data with RF as shown in DataSheet. Is the writing time 5ms? Or does it mean that I should read it after 5ms of writing? Thank you!!!

I want to know if it is possible to use this to make OOB Bluetooth with my android smartphone, and if so how can I achieve it. I read some documentation regarding the demos in X-Cube-NFC6 with card emulation, but I don´t if that is suitable for what I am trying to achieve. 

Hello!Can you tell me the reasons and meaning of the necessity of grounding the center of the ST25R3916 antenna loop?In X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 the jumper between the center of the antenna loop and ground is closed, but in ST25R3916 Discovery Board it is open.Best regards, Rob.

Greetings,I've got a simple application wherein I'm exchanging ISO-DEP data using RFAL on a ST25R3916.  I'm only interested in handling the data read from the card once (of course) and then only process read-data again from either a new card OR the same card again *if* the card has been removed and re-presented (i.e. the card re-appears with a new UID).  I fully expected that the rfal state machine would have a "disconnected" (or equivalent) state, or, at least, would auto-deactivate which would be observable via a notification (i.e. within the discParam.notifyCb).  This does not appear to be the case.My working (and feels dirty) solution is, once read, throw in a vTaskDelay (freeRTOS) so lower priority tasks can run while waiting on the card presenter to leave, and keep reading the tag (but ignore the data) till I get a read error.  Once I get a read error, I know the next tag is a "new" one, so I can deactivate and re-enter discovery.Given my desires to stay

I've been implementing Wake Up mode with inductive wakeup on the ST25R3916 with custom firmware. It's all functioning as expected, except for the oscillator interrupt.As seen in the logs below, when I switch to Wake Up mode, I mask every IRQ except I_WAM and I_WPH. Just to be safe, I added a readout. The Wake Up timer is configured to take a measurement every 100ms. But every 100ms, it sends an I_OSC interrupt when it switches to Ready to take amplitude and phase measurements. Why would this occur? Is there something beyond just M_OSC being set that I need to do?  

To perform the demos, the ST25 Android app is asking me to upgrade the firmware by PC and telling it can't be done by the Android Application, but when I open the ST25PC-NFC software, it doesn't detect the reader and hence can't upgrade the firmware. I have connected using both STLink USB(MicroUSB) and MCU USB(MiniUSB) but both of them don't work. Is there any other way to upgrade the firmware using STM32CubeProgrammer as I am able to connect using the STLink USB, and I also have the binary file for upgrade?

Hi, I am using an ST25R3911B using the ST25NFC_embedded_library in polling mode on an stm32f103CBT6. In my program, I poll my ST25 and then move on to reading values from arrays of hall sensors (4 arrays of 16 sensors each) a total of 64 sensors. The issue I am facing is that, after a number of stable and precise repetitive readings, i get a complete reading with noise in the readings. when I shutdown polling of the ST25 in my software, the noise disappears. The left sensor array is most affected by the noise. Note:: Also the noise is not very random, every time the shift in sensor readings for each sensor is almost same as show in error log.I have attached an image of the serial debug terminal highlighting the noise.

Hello,I'm using the X-NUCLEO-NFC03A1 dev kit with the CR95HF RFID chip. The protocol to talk to the chip I'm using is SPI, and the ISO configured is 15693. I can confirm SPI comms are working as both the ID and ECHO commands work. I also seem to get the correct response from the chip with the protocol is selected and configured for 15693. Unfortunately it seems like RFID tags are not getting detected. I can confirm the RFID tags are programmed and work as expected as I can used my phone's RFID scanner to detect the tag, and the protocol is detected to be 15693. I've attached a Saleae capture of the SPI comms between the MCU and the CR95HF when using a Send/Receive command. The error code that is returned by the CR95HF is 0x87, which corresponds to not detecting an RFID tag.Currently I'm using the default 15693 protocol config of 0x00, but have tried lowering the protocol bit rate and waiting for SOF.Help would be greatly appreciated! Capture of configuring the

However, I couldn’t find any binary library like a .framework or Swift Package that can be easily integrated into our project.We have attempted to work with the source code provided iOS app for ST25DV-I2C PHDC demo, but we’ve encountered some challenges getting it up and running. I´m developing the PollingTagDetect (for nucleo L746RG) example code into s32k116 microcontroller. I´m only programming the NFC type A (get ID card) feature. There are three main steps, first it´s detect the card type, for this it´s needed to use the WUPA command (0xC7). After that, "start Rx,"end Rx " and "end Tx" flags are set to 1 (in my case I need to wait 1 ms); The second step is to send the "Transmit without CRC"(0xC5) command after save in fifo the 0x93 value, I saw the instantly previous configuration before send the command, therefore, i saved 82 registers (memory A + memory B). Mi code replicates all the configurations of example and behaviour until this point, but there is an exception, the "Gain reduction state register" (only as read register), which value starts to change after the card type detect and before the Transmit command, when this command is sent, this register value is 0 (equal for my code). Hello,I'm currently evaluating the ST25DV chip to implement bidirectional NFC communication with a custom device. So the idea would be to take advantage of the enhanced operating range of ISO 15693 and use the mailbox for direct data exchange.For the first evaluation step, I have a few ANT7-T-ST25DV64KC boards and a X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1 board that I use on a Nucleo 64 w/ STM32G0B1RE.  To start with, I've built the NFC08A1_PollingTagDetectNDEF example project.It does work fine and all NFC tags (with various types) I have tested it with do work. The ANT7-T-ST25DV64KC are detected with no problem at a distance up to about 50 mm. Which isn't bad. Now my goal is to reach about 100 mm if that's possible, knowing that in the final device, the tag antenna may be even smaller. So I guess that if that goal is at all possible, that would require either tweaking the parameters on the reader side (ST25R3916B) and/or using a much larger antenna for it.First things first, are there any possible regi

Hello,I would like to go a bit deep in the inductive wake up function. Unfortunatly seems that i will need to work with delta 1 at least for the moment, but due that it is a battery powered device i need to avoid as much as fake awake when there is no RFID card in front.1) Im playing with your 3916B Discovery kit connected to  my antena instead ST antena board, and im seeing for example that on phase awaken, mostly of the “fakes” are values under the reference, like i set as reference 120 and fake shows a value of 119, never 121. Is that realistic to say that fakes will follow that logic? Or it is just coincidence…2) Has ST any statistics about behaviour with Delta 1?3) In addition, my feeling is that Just rebooting sometimes the reference is taken for example as 120 and sometimes in a range of 140. i think im not modifying anything. Any idea about why this could be? I mean, is normal to read such different values as reference? Im using Discovery firmware, with no modification.4)

In the library functions of arduino, I found that there are only existing functions that receive WiFi, uri, and so on. Now I want to receive picture bytes and store them in an array, but I can't find any built-in functions that are used to receive them.

I use ST25R95 to detect the ST25D tag. I keep the tag on the antenna of the Reader all the time, and some situations have occurred. Hi Even if I place it precisely on it all the time, the tag may not be read probabilistically during detection. Is this normal? The antenna fails to read the tag about two or three times out of ten readings. Please help me,thanks~  

Where can I find details on inductive sensor wakeup for the ST25R3916? It's only even mentioned on pages 1 and 11 of the datasheet. My understanding is that inductive wake-up will detect tags only, whereas capacitive will detect other objects like a hand. This would give the inductive sensor the advantage for power savings, which is what I'm currently working on.
