ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Hi,I am working on a project and trying to resolve a doubt I have before starting building the prototype, I appreciate if anyone could assist me with my question. The project is based on NFC dynamic tags and wireless charging.There are 2x devices in this simplified version of the project, let's call them Base Station and Target.The Base Station talks to the Target device via NFC. The target device has 2x modes slow charge and fast charge modes.The slow charge mode is via NFC wireless charing and the fast charge mode is via Qi wireless charging.My question is: can NFC data communication co-exist with Qi wireless charging ? Meaning could the device transfer data back and forth when the Qi wireless charging is ON ? Would not Qi wireless charging overload NFC dynamic tag and break it ?Any help would be highly appreciated.Thanks

The RFAL library claims to support the ST25R3912 but has no definitions in the sources for this chip. How to use the RFAL library with the ST25R3912 chip? just use ST25R3911 definitions and sources?

Hi,I am working on ST25DV64KC NFC chip. I am trying to write system configuration memory from i2c.Steps:1) I have opened i2c security session by sending present password command. I have read I2C_SSO_Dyn register from dynamic register memory and its returning '0x01' means the i2c security session is correctly open.2) After that I tried to change byte value of LOCK_CFG register to 0x01 by keeping first 14 bytes as it is and 15th byte which is LOCK_CFG to 0x01 using i2c block write.3) I have read system configuration registers from ST25 NFC tap android app but LOCK_CFG value is not updated to 0x01.4) For user memory I am able to read and write from i2c side correctly. I am also able to read system configuration memory correctly but failed to write.Note from datasheet:I2C security session must first be open, by presenting a valid I2C password, to grant write access to system configuration registersWhat could be the cause? Am I following correct procedure to write in system configuration?

Hello,For various tests and especially for certification, I like to put the ST25R39xx into a test state in which it generates a continuous unmodulated field or a field modulated with random data (similar to NXP's PRBS test).Is such a mode available?How can I access this mode? Ideally via the RFAL library.The ST25R3916-DISCO board is FCC certified. Can you share the project / code used for FCC certification?Thanks in advane,Michael

Hi ST,We bought a ST25RU3993-HEPV last year to evaluate the RFID chip and wanted to control it using SPI (You already helped us with that question and this one). The SPI master is a Cortex A15.We are currently adapting ST code into our newly created Linux Device driver. We tested the driver to read/write registers, the IRQ is working properly, and the selftests done by ST st25RU3993Initialize function are OK.However, when we try to read a tag using inventoryGen2 function in evalAPI_commands.c file, we can't manage to have more than -17dbm in output of the spectrum analyser. For RF access, if the requested read is entirely within a locked area, the document shows that both device variants will give an error: But the document doesn't show the corresponding case for I2C - it only shows the case where part of the requested range is locked:So what happens in the case where the requested read is entirely within a locked area?Is there a specific error returned? Or does the entire read give FFs? Or what? What is the recommended way to detect that a read has failed due to locking?ie, how do we know if its genuine FF data, or just FF due to locking?

Hello, i designed a PCB with footprint for st25dv04k and antenna, I connected the 2 antenna port to the IC chip.The antenna is 10mm X 50mm, 6 loops, a width of 0.15mm and 0.15mm pitch.The antenna inductance L is 2.5uH according to tag capacitance.I soldered the tag, fairly but it seems that I couldn't detect it with any rfid/nfc reader.I attached the PCB picture, can you help detect what is the problem?

Hi,We want to design an antenna for the ST25DV64K NFC chip. According to the characteristics that the chip has, it needs an antenna with an inductance of 4,83 uH. Our question is if we can design an antenna with higher inductance and add a series capacitor to the chip to compensate. For example: if we create a 12.69 uH antenna, the capacitance of the chip should be 10.85 pF (ST25DV64K chip internal capacitance is 28,5 pF). Can we add a 17.52 pF series capacitor to the chip to achieve the desired capacitance? Or is it only possible to add capacitors in parallel? Thank you for the help.Best regards,IF

Greetings,I've been using M24LR64E-R and CR95HF card on Windows for some time. Using the demo card, I'm able to achieve consistent interrupts but on my Android app the tag seems to miss the interrupts while the writing is happening. No particular difference in the algorithm I'm following. The only considerable difference is; CR95HF.dll has a function called CR95HFDll_select where Android doesn't offer a protocol selection as such.How can I achieve the selection that CR95HFDll_select adds on Android? Or is there something I'm missing from the datasheets that'd help me adjust my Android app better so that I can generate consistent interrupts after writing blocks?Best regards.

I'm looking at the Dll3911_Demos from Discovery GUI pack v1.2.12. Frustratingly it It wont compile due to an error on line 202 ErrorCode = ST25R3911_Dll.rfalTransceiveBlockingTxRx(Handle, cmd, 5, resp, 12, us, RFAL, rfalConvMsTo1fc(5));The function rfalConvMsTo1fc seems to be missing also the variable RFAL. I can compile it if i comment out the line but this is function I would like to implement.Is there a more up to date version of the source code which compiles available?

Hi - would like to use android ST25 app to change a large memory area (using Memory Fill and a source file) on a ST25DV04 transponsder and so I don't have to change byte by byte. How do I go about doing that and what file format is used for this? Also would like to offload a large memory area (using memory dump) to a file and would like to know how to do that, and what can I use to read the file contents?thanksAlex

Hi everyone,I'm trying to understand if it's possible to use the sleep mode of the F401RE and then restore its state as soon as a NFC reader polls for the tag.From what I understood, the NFC04A1 tag has a built-in mechanism that triggers interrupts based on particular events. For example, in my application I enabled the RF_ACTIVITY interrupt, which helps me avoid writing into tag's memory while being polled by the reader. So, could I use this interrupt to also come back from sleep mode on the F401RE MCU?If I enter sleep mode at every loop cycle, the MCU waits for the RF_ACTIVITY interrupt from the tag (which becomes an I2C interrupt for the MCU), so it's waken up only by the interrupt, completes its loop cycle, and then enters sleep mode again.Is this possible?Thank you!

On one side I have a slave MCU and other side smart phone. I have an nfc tag connected to slave MCU via I2C. Is there any way I can flash the software from smart phone to the slave MCU using NFC? Given I have some 500 Bytes EEPROM on the NFC tag.

Hello,I've changed the impedance matching network on the NFC06A1 such that the system is resonant at 13.56MHz with an impedance of 2.6 ohms. The reader is in 5V mode with the regulator display register measuring 4.3V at VDD_RF. I have set the output resistance to 3.4 ohms.I expect that it would output 1.6 Arms (4.3 V / 2.6 ohm) or possibly 0.72 Arms (4.3 V / (2.6+3.4) ohms) with the VDD_RF regulator limiting the current to 350Arms. However, the i_lim flag remains zero.Is there a trouble shooting procedure I should follow for determining why the device will not output more than 350Arms?Thank you!Best,Oliver
