Question

New ST website is horrible.

"Modern feel and look" prevailed over usability, navigability, and common sense.

The fact, that the site nags about obsolete browser is a clear indication of the level of incompetence of the creators.

Should anybody from ST answer, please do so under your own name, don't hide behind the Moderators.

Users, if agree, please post a "+1".

PS. Yes, this *is* STM32-related. Accessing the primary STM32 material - however scarce it is - got harder again,.

Looks like the UX designer who was responsible for the Windows Vista disaster got out of jail. My eyes ache.

The new site is less responsive than the previous one, and why do they need to hide the documents under layers that have to be clicked before showing the content ? Makes the browser search useless...

Like the proverbial Curate's Egg some parts are edible.

12 years ago the website was fast and relatively friendly, but most of all reliable. Thanks to advances in web site technology we have.....

ST obviously has some budget cuts in place, looks like the website was hardest hit. I'm sure whoever is left running it is trying to deliver something with whatever resources they have left. I don't see criticism as helping under those circumstances.

The world has plenty of much better forums and websites running managed by a few people, often in their free time. Fire those hundreds of HR loafers, who are not able to do their job anyway, and hire few actual experts in respective fields. Are You saying that they have 46k employees, but can't hire a few tens of a decent software developers?

Don't be naive - the problem is not the resources. For example, look at HAL drivers. They have a team working on those. That team does produce code lines, actually too many lines. The problem is that those lines are stupid. I mean not only they don't have relevant knowledge, but even logical constructions are stupid!

And this is actually a common tendency in western companies in 21st century. Look at Microsoft - Windows Phone, Windows 8-10, Skype 8 and so on. The company, which was once capable of building a giant OS, is now incapable of even updating it. Ten years since Windows 7 they still don't have a decent replacement for it and it's getting worse.

All of this is consequences of (deliberately) misunderstood "human rights" and socialist thinking overall. You have to fire dumb people or they will worsen or destroy Your product and company.

And while they are at it, hire some people to write accurate datasheets and application notes. Just wasted several days working on a power supply before I discovered a one-liner hidden away in an app note that made the device useless for my application. Ended up using a Chinese device with only a Chinese language datasheet that was more useful that the ST one !!

Parts were Viper12A and SDH8223 if you want to see my point further.

I now some people have left because of that.

And I'm not sure people here like to sacrifice the usability with computers for usability with phones.

surprisingly "news and update" column which was the most attractive and useful section of the st.com is placed on the bottom of the new UI home page :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Customers, management and sales need one portal, technical/community needs another. I agree new site is too much fluff. +1

    New WebDesign.... HORRIBLE!!!

I am using a PC, Windows 10 and LATEST firefox...

Is it designed by a groupe of kindergarden rejects? or a amature designer? It is horrible.

It is damn buggy in the technical funtion. It has useless and anoying animations that do not fit on a technical site but on a kindergarden page. It is damn hard to navgate and use.... Click... SlipSlidePOP...wtf were did to go... hmmmmm

TIP: Split it in two sites: Sales, flash, animations, sound.. anything you can..... TECH: Plain static webpages WITHOUT sliding/moving/poping useless design an just static text/pictures/links...

TIP: You do not have to use a function/effect just becos its there.... On a site like ST.COM it is not usefull or add anything functional... It is like designing a 1000 line program to change a bit from 0x0 to 0x1... USELSESS BLOATING....

TIP: If it aint broken DO NOT FIX IT!

TIP: Remove all moving/sliding and let someone NOT IN THE DESIGN TEAM or MANAGEMENT test it BEFORE you put it on the prodution/public server...

We visit this site for facts and software, not to be dazzled by flashy USELESS animations and bad coding of website...

Could someone go fire the person/s that had the job of designing and signing off on this "new" design and please help them off the premisses with a swift kick in the ***....
