Suggestions for MCU Choice

Hi :waving_hand:,

I am designing a midi controller. I want test out using an STM30 MCU, I was wondering if anyone could suggest dev board/ processor?

I don't want or need wireless communication (wifi and Bluetooth)

I want to run a lot of linier potentiometers/ fader / lingering encoders. Using usb C

In whish list for final product I want to have USB C throughout for data,

My primary design constraint is that I want final production units to cost no more then $100.

So I want to find right MCU that is cost effective for fader inputs with out bells and whistles.

Thanks for you help,

Jim

    Hi @2fourK

I recommend taking a look at How to write your question to maximize your chance... - STMicroelectronics Community

First, you can refer to the STM32H7RS line with bootflash. Here where you can find the software and hardware tools available:

    For more information:

The STM32H5 line is another excellent option, offering a balance of performance and cost-effectiveness. Here you can find some more details: STM32H5 Discovery kit accelerates building secure,... - STMicroelectronics Community

Not really sure that H7 qualifies as "without bells & whistles" ... ?

    Welcome to the forum.

Do you have experience with embedded microcontroller & electronics development?

It seems your basic requirements are:

    • low-cost
    • "lots" of analogue inputs (A2D?)
    • USB

    Clarifications required:

    • how many is "lots" ?
    • USB - Device or Host ?
