Posted on September 22, 2017 at 22:50I have an application where I need to enable two PWM outputs. They need to have the same frequency but different duty cycles  I have got PWMA0 and PWMA1 working but I am not able to get them synced together. There is a 9.2us difference in switching between A0 and A1.  I tried playing around with the FORCE_EN register and but was unsuccessful. Is there any easy way to get this done?

Posted on September 27, 2017 at 12:03Hi all,I'm developing on a SPC56EL60L3 device, using SPC5 Studio, I have two querstions about the FPU:1. executing a division of a float number by 0.0F I would expect an infinite result (which means a 0bS111 1111 1xxx .... xxxx value, according with IEEE 754 standard), dividing 0.0F by 0.0F I would expect a NaN result (0bS111 1111 10xx ... xxxx value); in both cases the result is 0bS111 1111 0111 1111 .... 1111, which is a valid number (3.40...e+038).Can you confirm that the SPC56 implements the IEEE 754 standard? What's wrong in my tests?2. moreover I would expect the FPU to generate an exception (IVOR33), which is actually not managed by device. I always get problems 'when changing COMP1 and COMP2 while the counter is active', the term  Use caution when changing COMP1 and COMP2 while the counter is active. If the counter has already passed the new value, it will count to 0xFFFF or 0x0000, roll over, then begin counting toward the new value. Posted on September 20, 2017 at 19:44Hi I trying to use the PIT to generate an interrupt every 1.7uS to toggle a GPIO and it does not seem to be working well. I have a sysclk of 64MHz. Im using PIT1 and setting the LDVAL register with a count. Now the timer seems to be working well for a count of 200000 which corresponds to an intrerupt time of 5uS. But any value less than that and the timer is unstable (high value of jitter) Going further a value of 1000000 which corresponds to an interrupt time of 1us just does not work. The PIT does not seem to be able to generate an interrupt less than 2.5us. I tried chaining the priority of the PIT interrupt to 15 in the file pit_lld.h Below is my setting #define SPC5_PIT_CH1_IRQ_PRIORITY       INTC_PSR_ENABLE(INTC_PSR_CORE0_15) This also did not seem to work. Is there any other setting that I can change to get this to work?

Posted on May 03, 2017 at 05:45Hi ST expert,I am trying to use SPC5 as a multi-channel PWM controller. Normally for this kind of application, the duty cycle calculation will be done in an interrupt. For 100kHz PWM, the allowed interrupt duration is <10uS, for example 8uS max. The rest of time (10uS-8uS=2uS) should be reserved for other processes, such as communication etc.As there is a lot calculation for multi-channel PWM, it is necessary to maximize the usage of the interrupt duration. However, I found it will take >1.2uS to enter an interrupt and take another 1uS to go back to the main routine for 48MHz clock. That means >40% of the interrupt duration will be wasted. Attached is my program used to test the interrupt duration and the captured waveform - PIT Channel 1 as the trigger source; PC9 is the output.My question here is why SPC5 needs so many clocks to enter and left the interrupt and is there any way to reduce such unnecessary timing?Thank you!#intc

Posted on September 04, 2017 at 14:35I have a simple for loop that should ideally run 20 times, inside which I toggle an LED.When I debug this code on my SPC56EL controller (on a daughter board which is mounted onto the XP56 motherboard) WITHOUT hardware breakpoints, it toggles only once and exits the main handler (confirmed this behavior). But when I add breakpoints in the loop, it works perfectly. Any logical reasoning for such a behavior?Summarizing - The code works when I put breakpoints in the loop but executes the loop only once when I do not put any breakpoints in the loop. #pls #spc56 #32bits #microcontroller

In this FlexCAN0 is used in loop back mode and it is working. But after disabling loop back mode,I cant see any data on the CAN_TX pin with scope. Posted on July 27, 2017 at 14:00Hi,I am using a SPC560C50L3 controller on a SPC560BADPT100S MINIMODULE board which sits on the XPC56XX EVB Motherboard. Power supply checked, jtag driver checked. The JTAG used is from PLS USB/JTAG Adapter for SPC5XXX. Using a sample application (CAN application), I could manage to build the code. But from here on, I tried to read the manual to use the JTAG debugger but I could not successfully flash code. Another thing I notice while using UDE STK4.8 version, is the Target names (in Select target configuration) DO NOT match any of the names (name of controller, minimodule or the motherboard). From this what I understand is I do not have a target configuration file, specific to the board in use. How can I solve this?? Any help is appreciated.  #spc5 #pls #spc5-studio #jtag

Posted on July 28, 2017 at 10:46Hello Community,I am measuring several voltages and I would like to have a precise reference to be able to calculate the best physical value without using any external reference.The ADC uses for the internal conversation VDD, which is supplied by an external voltage regulator. Actually these regulators have a high tolerance, so that I cannot be sure to have 5 V.I could use an external IC to generate a precise 1.2V or 2.5V reference and read this with the ADC.Actually I was asking myself if I cannot get rid of this external refernce IC and use any precise internal voltage?!Does somebody know if there is any internal voltage (like the internal 1.2V for example) which I can read as the reference voltage?
