Hi,Im currently testing the Smart Presence Detection Firmware for the VL53L8X and have some questions:- When I start the ranging, the firmware triggers false positives (detecting someone when there isn't anyone) and after some seconds it stabilizes thus not detecting anyone unless a person approaches the sensor. Is this the normal behavior ?- I would also like to know how direct sunlight affects the sensor. It makes more difficult to detect someone ? Trigger more false positive, however I believe it is only during few times along the day that we can "observe" 940 nm.Thank you!

Hi All,we are currently working with both the VL53L5CX and L7CX ToF-Sensors.In EMC testing, there are sometimes occurences of the statuses TIMEOUT_ERROR and CORRUPTED_FRAME during the acquisitons (via the Vl53lxcx_get_ranging_data uld function).If these statuses occur, the only thing that gets the sensor back to measuring correctly seems to be a full power-on reset. Otherwise, all uld functions like get_ranging_data or get/set anything keep returning the same error code. Just resetting the i2c by toggling I2C_RST does not seem to do the trick.My question is now: is there another way to recover from these error state of the sensor? Especially one that does not require downloading the sensor firmware again?Thanks in Advance!

Hi all,I'm trying to setup the SPI communication with a VL53L8CX which is connected to a STM32F401RE-Nucleo. Hi, I am trying to create test the STEVAL-MKI194V1 for a test vehicle, which has LSM6DSR. However, I do not get an initialization response from it using the Zephyr device tree. So, I did a test (without the DSL driver) with the spi shell which gives me the correct chip ID output. Is the DSL driver compatible with the DSR? OR would I need a separate driver for both ?  Thanks, Devang   

Hi,I want to create a reflectometer to measure samples targets reflectivity in %. The samples are 10x15cm and the distance will be fixed: samples can be between 15cm to 1m. The measurement will happen in the dark in a controlled environment.I found the ST reflectometer demo page so I thought it may be viable to use a VL53 ToF sensor. Hello, I have two expansion boards: X-NUCLEO-53L8A1 with VL53L8 and X-NUCLEO-53L7A1 with VL53L7CX. I am exploring STM image sensors for a new project and am evaluating different options. To make an informed decision, I would like to refer to EMVA1288 datasheets, especially for details on read noise and dark current performance. Hi, I am testing the SATEL VL53L7CX board, but the SDA on this board is stuck at zero. I have checked that there are no short cuts and that the pull up is there. Any ideas how to solve this?

I found a problem while using the VL53L4CD. My usual practice is to initialize the VL53L4CD after the terminal is turned on. During subsequent use, I only use Start and Stop to control whether to start ranging.Now it is found that when I stop, the terminal enters a low-power state. When this state persists for a period of time, when operating VL53L4CD again and sending the start instruction, no interrupt signal can be received. Moreover, after I send VL53L4CD_ClearInterrupt, the interrupt signal remains at a low level all the time.When I start, I first call VL53L4CD_ClearInterrupt, and then call VL53L4CD_StartRanging. Hi, I have downloaded the STSW-IMG302_LNX which has this description "Linux driver for VD6283 6-channel ambient light sensor, with flicker extraction expansion application programming interface (API)", I want to compile this driver for my embedded linux for arm64 platform, I don't know how can I compile it as there are number of files and folders as shown below.The read me doesn't help me either. Do I need to make a module out of it and load that in my embedded linux ? if so then how ? I tried following,I used aarch64-linux-gcc compiler. What I did was I executed make all which produced the build folder with a number of .o files, then I created an .a archive file out of it using command ar r mylib.a build/*.o and now I am not sure if I am suppose to make a main.c file and use this library when compiling my main.c file. I didn't find any good documentation and README file for the procedure. Following is where my sensor is connected on my embedded linux.  #

We are using the LIS2DW12 accelerometer in our custom product. We understand that this sensor can detect movement or positioning along the X, Y, and Z axis. However, in our application, we need to detect when the device changes its orientation in terms of degrees—for example, when it flips or tilts significantly from one position to another.Can the LIS2DW12 generate an interrupt based on such orientation changes (e.g., using 6D orientation detection)? We are looking for a way to trigger events when the device is rotated beyond a certain angle.Thank you

I have implemented 9D orientation calculation on the STM32L4 using the LSM6DSO16IS and LIS2MDL sensors. Since there is an initial delay when flashing the program onto the ISPU, I chose to implement the algorithm on the STM32 itself, bypassing the ISPU.The issue I'm facing is that the yaw axis value changes when I move the system and place it back in the same position—even after calibrating the magnetometer. I am using motionfx.h for both magnetometer and gyroscope calibration.I believe the problem lies in the gyroscope calibration. When I set iKnobs.LMode = 1 (static mode), the gyroscope does not calibrate during motion, and the resulting drift affects the yaw angle. To address this, I also tried setting LMode = 2 (dynamic mode). However, in dynamic mode, calibration saturates after some time and stops updating. After that, the yaw value continues to drift even when the device is stationary.Below is the code snippet I am using for orientation calculation and sensor calibration.Question

Hi, I'm putting down a LIS2DH12 accelerometer on a new PCB. The datasheet calls for an aluminum capacitor on VDD, but the eval board (STEVAL-MKI151V1) shows a small capacitor that looks like a ceramic. I don't know for sure because I can't find the BOM for the eval board. I really don't have clearance for an electrolytic capacitor. How critical is it?

Hello STM32 Community,I’m currently working with the STEVAL-PROTEUS1 evaluation board, which integrates an STM32WB5MMG microcontroller and an IIS2DLPC MEMS accelerometer. I’m using the board together with the ST BLE Sensor mobile app, and it works great out-of-the-box for streaming sensor data over BLE.However, I’d like to change the sampling frequency (ODR) of the onboard accelerometer to suit my specific application needs. Although these devices are technically "water resistant", they are sometimes described as "water proof" (even in STM materials), and the data sheet permeability of the gel is quite low. Clearly these devices can survive immersion for at least several hours, but for how long, really...There are several posts on here asking questions about this, but no quantitative answers. Has anyone (ST engineers especially) conducted experiments on device drift or lifetime for continuous immersion in water (without worrying about aggressive chemicals or surfactants)?What is the drift or lifetime for direct immersion?What about if a flexible membrane is used as an outer layer of protection (e.g. a thin layer of nitrile rubber). Polymer membranes won't be impereable, of course, but would be something which would not resist pressure change but should limit the sensor to contact with water vapour rather than liquid.

I followed most of the examples to get data such as accel, gyro, timestamp and temperature from the github repo using fifo interrupts. I also used the mlc_gym example to get data from a MLC configuration that I designed on Mems studio.  My question is, can I use both configurations at the same time? like have an interrupt for the fifo data ready and one interrupt for the MLC? As in, I am constantly reading raw accel/gyro/timestamp/temp data at a fixed 60Hz on interrupt 1 and also get a new MLC state on interrupt 2?

I am having trouble with the VL53L7CX recording incorrect measurements after being powered on. Often times the distance if off consistently until I unplug it and plug it back in (The raspberry pi). Sometimes even that will not solve the problem. I have looked at the calibration function but it seems that it is only for cover glass and I use none. Has anyone had this issue and know how to solve it?

Hi All,I use STHS34PF80 for presence detection with embedded algorithm however it easily get stuck in presence status and cannot release from the status.Use case:People sit in from of the sensor around 30 cm, with lens on STHs34PF80.When people enter the FOV it's triggered as presence status.When people sit still for a while (e.g. 30 min), the TPresence keeps glowing.When people leave, TPresence drops however it cannot across threshold.TPresence will keep fall very slowly until it across the threshold however sometime it will never across below the threshold.Red line: presence flagOrange line: TPresence valuemy settings:lpf_m: DIV_200lpf_p: DIV_200lpf_p_m: DIV_9lpf_a_t: DIV_50ODR: 4Hzchange lpf_p to DIV_50 doesn't help Any idea why TPresence keeps rising when people sit still and fall very slowly after people leave ?And how to solve the issue ?       

Hi everyone, I'm developing a tamper detection circuit for a meter enclosure. I'm considering the STHS34PF80 infrared proximity sensor, but I'm struggling to find reference materials or application notes specifically related to tamper detection using this sensor. My goal is to use the sensor as an interrupt generator, similar to a switch. When someone opens the enclosure lid, the sensor should detect the change in proximity and trigger an interrupt signal to the microcontroller, indicating tampering. Can anyone recommend reference materials or alternative sensor options suitable for tamper detection in this application? Thanks.
