MEMS and sensors

Hi. I'm currently working with the Blue SDK and trying to detect any falls from the SensorTile.Box Pro. The device is able to detect falls, but I am unsure of how to send that data over to my android application. I have a modified BLESensorPnPL demo project calling the BLE_MachineLearningCoreUpdate() function once it detects a free fall. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Also, how does the BLEMLC demo project communicate with the STBLE Sensor Application?

Does the IIS2MDC require burn-in? Using the IIS2MDC, I read a magnetic filed of 0.47 Gauss on a Friday. I read the same result the Monday morning at 10 am. Two hours later, I was reading 0.4 Gauss magnitude. The individual axes were also quite different, which caused heading deviations beyond acceptable levels. My reference magnetometer did not show any variations during this time. In addition, temperature varied by < 1 deg Celsius, from 25.6 C to 24.8 C. I am trying to determine why only the IIS2MDC had so much variation in such a short period of time.

Hello all,We are once again using one of the VL53 TOF sensors for a close-proximity ranging application. For this application we are using code from the VL53L4CD_ULD_Driver.After initialising the system using the VL53L4CD_SensorInit function, we are obtaining single measurements by starting the sensor via VL53L4CD_StartRanging and getting results via get_data_by_interrupt()We are noticing that if the target distance is changed, the first 2 or 3 measurements after the target distance change, are incorrect (look like values from the previous target distance). The 3rd or 4th measurement (and onwards) are correct. Hello,I am using the LSM6DSOX IMU to detect a double tap. The IMU is connected to SPI1 of a STM32U5 and the INT1 pin is connected to a GPIO (PB2) of the STM32U5 configured as external interrupt.Sometimes the double tap detection works correctly but suddently the INT1 pin is not triggered anymore even though a double tap is performed.At the same time I am also sampling the acceleration from the IMU via SPI and I can see that this still works. Meaning that the IMU is still working. I also have a SD card connected on SDMMC1 and I notice that when I write data on the SD card periodically, at some point the INT1 pin stops triggering. When I don't write any data, the INT1 pin works as intended.Do you have any idea why the INT1 pin is not triggered anymore? I checked the level of the INT1 pin with a logic analyser and I see that it stays low, meaning that the issue comes from the IMU and not the STM32U5. However, I can confidently say that the INT1 pin not triggering is linked

Hi,I am using h3lis331dl accelerometer with imx8mp and also using the default st_accel and st_accel_i2c drivers in Linux. Most of the part works correctly. I am using udevadm to monitor the trigger in C# code./bin/udevadm monitor iio:device0This works when I manually trigger with the command "sudo udevadm trigger /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0"Is it the right way to monitor the trigger/interrupt?Also, in_accel_*_raw and in_accel_*_scale files are available in /sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0 directory. Hi, I'm hosting a VL53L8CX with a STM32F4, 48-pin instead of the 64-pin on your eval board. There's a 5" flex cable between processor and L8. The vl53l8cx_init() function was failing. Slowing the SPI baud didn't help. Increasing wait time on line 276 of the api file didn't help. The thing that fixed it was inserting a brief delay at line 274 of the api file, which was slightly before you have a delay. Source code snippet below shows my delay.BTW, I noticed that the .ioc file that came with your ULD has the SPI bus disabled. Did you do some custom monkeying with the HAL SPI driver? I'm using the .ioc and HAL driver, as is, with my application. I'm using the VL43L4CX and with every measurement, I get the next range status: VL53LX_RANGESTATUS_RANGE_VALID_NO_WRAP_CHECK_FAILFrom the documentation, I can't find any indications of what to do in this case and how to solve it.From the code I see that this is set when wraparound check isn't performed. This is also visible because for longer distances 3m+ I get an offset with around 3m offset.I'm using the same code as in this example: https://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stsw-img029.htmland I haven't changed any of the tuning parameters.How to address this and make the algorithm perform the wraparound check?

Hi, I've been developing a simple water level sensor with the VL53L0X and i'm having trouble putting it into the enclosure that is protected from the moisture. I've been mainly experimenting now, but one of my problems is mounting the sensor behind glass or something like that. I'm happy to glue that on over a hole or something, but wanted to figure out what works.I've followed some of the video's around crosstalk and have made a 3d print that should help (please see photos).The sensor works as expected in the 3d printed element, but doesn't work properly when i add the glass lens filter. I took the lens filter after trying a few other things, but not being great at materials, i wanted to be sure, so i tested with this filter from one of my camera lenses.I think i'm doing everything correctly, albeit not professionally, but can't get it to work.I would be greatful if somebody could point out some issues that i might have made.

I am using the FP-IND-PREDMNT1 STM32Cube function pack for predictive maintenance in STEVAL-STWINCSV1 board, which performs vibration analysis using a 3-axis accelerometer (3 DoF). My use case involves motor vibration analysis. Would it be beneficial to use 6 DoF or 9 DoF data for more effective monitoring?

HiI have a custom pcb design with a lsm6dsv and lsm303agr. So far it is only streaming xyz coordinates.I need to come up with something like a rotating dice in this Video at minute 5:20 :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mV_L-KEMy0In fact i need to Show the orientation of human head and not a dice.Which Tutorial or example project do you recommend as starting point?Is it correct that with lsm6dsv the Gyro has a good Performance, so i dont even need the magnetometer for drift correction?Is lsm6dsv the right chip, or is a better pin compatible chip in the lsm6 family?

The filter link of asm330 gyroscope includes LPF1 and LPF2, in which LPF1 can be configured with bandwidth, and LP2 is related to ODR. May I ask how much phase shift is corresponding to each filter in different bandwidth or configuration mode? Or could you provide the transfer function of the gyroscope? I need to analyze the frequency characteristics of the gyroscope under different configurations to meet the requirements of the system I designed, thank you!

Hi,  I am integrating nrf5340 With STEVAL-MKI197V1 Adapter PCB. We are using I2C interface to communicate. As per the LSM6DSOX datasheet, We need to pullup CS Pin for selecting I2C communication and SDO/SA0 pin status (Either connected to Pull up or Pull down) will determine the LSB Address.I am observing that, Communication is getting established even though CS pin and SDO/SA0 pin are left open. Another observation is, LSM6DSOX is responding only to address 6b. When we try to communicate using address 6a it doesnot acknowledge. Can you clarify why we are getting response without CS Pin and SDO/SA0 pin not mounted and why only for address 6b. Thanks and 

1) What capacitance does the LIS2DW12TR introduce to the I2C bus lines?2) What is it's maximum bus capacitance threshold in normal I2C mode (100khz)?The datasheet doesn't have info on either of these points. It only quotes that the max bus capacitance in fast/high-speed mode. Help here would be great as I'm calculating the RC constant on my I2C lines, as I think they're causing I2C to not work! Thanks!

GreetingsI am working with the LIS2DW12 accelerometer. I am using the device in Low Power Mode 1, with a FS = +-4g.According the application note AN5038, page 15, it says that the Low power mode 1, entails a 12 bit value. Thus, using the 16-bit value from the output registers for each axis, it should be divided by 4, and multiplied by 1.952:  Acceleration in mg = (16 bit hex value from both output registers)/4 * 1.952 Acceleration in mg = (16 bit hex value from both output registers) * 0.488    However in the GITHUB example code, found at the link (line 128)  float_t lis2dw12_from_fs4_lp1_to_mg(int16_t lsb) { return ((float_t)lsb) * 0.122f; }   The above code snippet shows that the 16-bit hex value from both output registers, should be multiplied by 0.122. I am not sure how to make sense of this. Any help would be appreciated.  

Hello,Our custom HW uses a LSM6DSM sensor.  There is no existing driving for it in Zephyr, however, the LSM6DSL sensor does. I looked at the differences between the 2 devices and it comes down to the LSM6DSM having 2 extra connection modes (Modes 3 & 4), and 4 registers that are accessible in AuxSPI mode (which we're not using).  The LSM6DSM on our board is configured for connection mode 1 and is an I2C slave to the nRF5340. Is the LSM6DSL driver compatible with the LSM6DSM? If not, is there a LSM6DSM driver for Zephyr?The reason I'm asking this is because I had tried using the LSM6DSL Zephyr driver on my board and I'm getting an I2C write error during device initialization. I've verified that my device I2C works because I can read/write to it via the Zephyr I2C shell commands.Thanks.

we are using LIS2MDL magnetometer calculate yaw (Angle) data. we have integrated the LIS2MDL 3-axis magnetometer along with the ISM330DHCX. However, the resulting yaw data fluctuates, even when the sensors are stationary (without motion).From our understanding, the output should remain stable when the sensors are at rest, but this is not reflected in the results. We have also tried implementing Kalman and complementary filters, but have yet to achieve the expected outcome.Our setup is as follows:            - The controller used to communicate with the ISM330DHCX and LIS2MDL is an Arduino UNO.            - The communication protocol used for both sensors is I2C.We are not sure what might be going wrong while trying to get angle data from the sensors. any inputs would be greatly helpful..

I am trying to save and reload a configuration file from MEMs Studio into the LIS2DUX12 accelerometer mounted onto the STEVAL_MKI109V3 motherboard. The basic system works fine. When I save a file (either in .json or .ucf format), it all looks correct (viewing with Notepad). But when I load this file, the board becomes unresponsive, and all the registers read "FF", including the "Who am I" register. It's the same response on either a PC or MAC.I am using the latest version of MEMs Studio (vr 1.3). However, the website labels it as version 1.4.Thanks-Mike Schell
