MEMS (sensors)

I interested in the higher frequency range of this device. The datasheet states clearly the LF cutoff at 35Hz, but there is no real discussion on the HF end apart from the characteristic graphs stopping at 10KHz. The device can be clocked up to 3.3MHz so it would seem that there is scope for higher frequencies. Is there any characteristics or design information for going above 10KHz and what are the tradeoffs? I see from some other posts that SNR is affected as the clock frequency increases.Any guidance appreciated.ThanksJulian 

Hi! I am using the SensorTile.box PRO in Expert Mode and try to log both Gyroscope and Microphone on the SD Card. When I try to upload the App I receive this error message: "There was a timeout error loading the App on the board". If I make an App to log only Gyro or only Microphone the App is uploaded and everything runs ok (in the first case a .csv is generated while in the second a .wav is generated). Thank you!

Hi @Eleon BORLINI, I am trying to build a custom 9 dof imu using LSM6DSO and LIS3MDL in mode 2, according to LSM6DSO datasheet.I found this page on AN5192 about sensor mode 2 (pg. 63). i2c master would be LSM6DSO and i2c slave would be LIS3MDL in this case. I will only be using i2c communication for reading LSM6DSO and LIS3MDL data.If I were to add external pull ups like the illustration above, what would be the recommended Kohm or, at least, a Kohm for good starting point for the pull up resistors in this case? 

Hello,     I have applied for the ASM330LHBxx ASIL B library from ST's web, and integrated it to my program, all the functions worked fine. But the noise of GYRO has gone beyond our requirement, we used to enable the LPF in ASM330 to lower the noise.     We have checked the integration manual of AB lib, it doesn't provide a function to set and enable the LPF filter, and it forbids users to set ASM330 without using AB lib(according to the Introduction sector in the manual). Is there any method to set and enable the LPF function even though using AB lib?

Hello We are working with accelerometer LIS2DW12.we did tests on the different movements of the accelerometer and the graphs we see (the graphs were made with the x_physical y_physical z_physical values). However we see graphs that are not as we expected; when we look at a 'free fall' movement we expect to see all axis intersect in value 0, however it is not the case.For example:in this image we see free fall when the orientation bit raised on zh (meaning the fall was on zl), but I do not see intersection of all axis ( Z is not even close) and I do not see intersection on 0 - x&y intersect on ~300 . Please explain this.here we do see intersection , however it is around value ~360 and not 0. Please explain why we see it.More images :here we see that the intersection is ~200here we see that the intersection is ~250 (at 31)here we don't see intersection and the values are not as expected from free fall. Please help me understand our results.

Hi,I designed a special board that includes the LSM6DSO32 sensor. I can get gyro and accelometer data from this sensor correctly. But even though I enable the pedometer output in the embedded function part of the datasheet, I can't get it. Can you help me step by step what to do?I would appreciate if you write step by step which data I will send to which register to make a step counter.Thanks for helps.Buse.

Hi,I am using MKI109V3 with Unico Lite and MKI239A. Following UM1064, I need to edit the source code to add MKI239 as additional evaluation board for a combo of acclerometer and gyroscope.The UM1064, user manual of Unico Lite, suggests to find “number of data bytes coming after *start” and "setdb" from UM2116. But the relevant information for MKI239A is not included in UM2116/Table 4 "Returned values for *start command". May I kindly ask if this information could be provided? Thanks a lot! I am trying to make everything work before Christmas.  P.S. Below are two screenshot from UM1064 (Section 1 and Section 3.1), showing it is supposed to be straightforward to add new evaluation boards, as long as info is provided in UM2116 table 4... 

I am reporting below a post created in March 2023 because I did not receive any response. Hello everyone,after some time that I use the sensor, it gives me back a temperature value of 0 °C.I'm using a library taken from github that I adapted to work with the STM32F407 microcontroller (can't post the link).The sensor works well but sometimes (not always) it "fails" and gives me back the value 0 °C. To "fix" it I have to reboot the whole system. Can anyone give me an explanation? Why is this happening?I use STM32F407 microcontroller.Thank you.

Hi team,                 I have purchased STEVAL-MKBOXPRO, It has LSM6DSV16X IMU with SFLP algorithm. MotionFX algorithm used in Algo builder. Is there any difference between those algorithm?. Which one is give more accurate output?

I have integrated lsm6dsv16bx in my Microcontroller and I'm able to see the IMU datas in output for example:  AX=61,AY=-131,AZ=-997,GX=-770,GY=2380,GZ=560.I have used the example code provided in the ST's official github page(https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STMems_Standard_C_drivers/blob/master/lsm6dsv16bx_STdC/examples/lsm6dsv16bx_read_data_polling.c).I'm able to see the changes in output during movement, & there seems to be less change in output while the sensor is static.The thing is, how can I confirm if this value that i'm getting is correct/accurate? is there any way to confirm/evaluate this value?

I would like to use the following MEMS microphones to test the resonance frequencies of an ultrasonic bath: https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/steval-mic007v1.html#overview I would like to ask what other parts I need to convert the analog signal of these MEMS microphones so that the measurement data can be read out on my PC via USB cable. Alternatively, could you recommend other MEMS microphones that already have an integrated analog-to-digital converter and are suitable for measuring frequencies in the ultrasonic range (~80 kHz)? What additional components would be required to transmit these signals via USB?   Many thanks in advance!

I need to connect two "STHS34PF80" sensors on the same I2C bus ,so does the "STHS34PF80" ST_IR sensor have the option to change his address as a slave by SW or HW?

Hello,I'm currently working with a custom board designed to read digital values from an accelerometer, specifically from the OUT_X, OUT_Y, and OUT_Z registers. However, I've encountered an issue: despite the accelerometer being physically stable, I am observing a significant number of peaks in the readings. These peaks consistently show an amplitude of around +/-250 units from the base level, which seems unusual.For context, the values I'm observing are 16-bit, and I'm operating the device under a 2G high-speed setting with an 800Hz Output Data Rate (ODR). I'm aware that the effective resolution is 14 bits, as the values are left-justified, with the least significant 2 bits not holding valid information. Given this, I would normally expect any inaccuracies to be within +/-7 units, not the large deviations I'm seeing.When I move the board, the readings for X, Y, and Z change as expected, which further puzzles me about these unexpected steady-state peaks. Hello ST community,I am unfortunately facing a problem with the MP34DT05-A MEMS microphone. I am using the DFSDM module to read in the microphone. Unfortunately, it happens again and again that extremely strong noise is added at a random time (see picture: At first, almost no noise can be recognized. Likewise after the first peak, which is a clap in the recording. After that, however, there is suddenly a very strong noise). I cannot clearly reproduce the behavior, as the noise sometimes occurs from the beginning, then after 2 seconds and so on. I am not very familiar with the sensor, as a just watchedthe webinar about the sensor last Tuesday.I think a good way to check the capabilities of the sensor is the STM32 Open Development Environment (ODE).With Unicleo-GUI we could test the sensor then and get used to it.In terms of hardware we have the STEVAL-MKI231KA kit only, which can easily be adapted to our board which hasI2C bus to connect the sensor and USB (Virtual comport) to connect to the PC.I found the GitHub Entry https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/sths34pf80-pid which provides the driver sths34pf80_reg.cUsing this I can easily pull some registers out of the sensor and send it to a terminal like in the example sths34pf80_tmos_data_polling.cBut how to use X-CUBE-MEMS1 with my custom board?How can I provide the necessary protocol on my virtual comport, so that Unicleo-GUI is happy?I installed X-CUBE-MEMS1 in CubeMX, but as far as I can see the libraries the

I'm currently employing the ST ISM330DLC accelerometer and gyrometer in my application.I've noticed some unusual readings when the gyrometer is stationary, and I would like to inquire whether this is expected behavior.I've opted not to utilize the built-in filters within the chip, and I'm seeking confirmation that my configuration is accurate.Should the frequency of the loop reading the accelerometer and gyroscope match the Output Data Rate (ODR)? In the example I provided, the ODR is 208, but the main loop operates at a rate of 250ms. I opted for this configuration as a test for the chip, and I haven't implemented the interrupt yet to handle speed and angle adjustments. 

Hi, I developed lsm6dsv driver on Android CHRE framework. In Android CTS test, some items failed, the reason is "LSM6DSV Gyro Standard deviation out of range: stddev=(0.004091, 0.001167, 0.000378) (expected (0.003456, 0.003456, 0.003456))". How to fix this? Thank you~

We have been using I3G4250DTR for 5 years in our production parts. We have been noticing some recent issues with the I3G4250DTR in that some boards are not sending data (DRDY) at all, or the data is intermittent (less than the 100 Hz data rate). It is happening on about 10% of our boards. The design hasn't changed in the last 5 years. We are suspecting the PLL filter must be causing the issues. We used the recommended parts as per the datasheet. Is there anything we can do to troubleshoot the issue? How sensitive are the values for the PLL? Is there something in the PCB design that could cause the issue (the PCB design has been the same for the last 5 years). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to get the Activity/Inactivity interrupt generation on the LSM6DSL working. I've implemented the example code in the data sheet below. I'm using an stm32L475.However, this interrupt fires constantly, regardless of either the sleep duration time or the activity threshold. From reading the SLEEP_STATE_IA from the WAKE_UP_SRC register, it also appears to always be the inactivity interrupt firing, not the activity one.In trying to debug this, I also tried implementing the other interrupt generators (Free Fall, Single Tap, etc...). These interrupts also constantly fired, regardless of their configurations.However, when I tried implementing the Data Ready Interrupt, it worked correctly. I even slowed the accelerometer down to 1.6Hz to verify.So what am I doing wrong for interrupt generation?
