ST25 NFC/RFID tags and readers

Posted on November 24, 2013 at 18:19I use the CR95HF chip for reading and writing data in the NFC forumtag Type 2 Tag (NTAG203F). I can read the data, but can not write data to Tag, although NTAG203F is writable. When I send a command to write data, the response I get from the CR95HF is 0x90 0x50 0x80 0x01 0x22 0x00 0x00. In dataseet for CR95HF(Doc ID 018669 Rev 2) I can not understand what does mean  Result code 0x90? Please, could you explain me response from CR95HF. Best regards, Nenad #cr95hf

Posted on October 18, 2013 at 11:58Hi to all,I'm using a self-made eval board based on the M24LR16E-R dual EEPROM chip. It is very simple as it consists of the EEPROM chip, filter capacitors, pull-up resistors and, obviously the antenna.RF signal is received by the same 15x15mm double layer antenna used in ANT7-M24LR16E.As the energy harvester is disabled by default, I tried to enable it by writing the config byte using I2C interface. More precisely:_ I set bit E2 =1 and bit RW = 0 in the device select code_ I set the bit EH_mode = 0 in the Config byte at address 2320hThe I2C communication happens as follow:START -> DEV.SELECT -> ADDR MSB -> ADDR LSB -> CONF.BYTE -> STOPAll the byte sent (address and data) have been acknowledged correctly, but the energy harvester results still disabled.Any help?Kind regardsD.PorcarelliP.S: a

Posted on August 14, 2013 at 22:24Hello all, I have been trying the M24LR-discovery board.  Without applying an external 3V3 supply to the board, the operational range appears to be only about 1.5cm (less than one inch).  There is an antenna design guide in the technical literature that indicates that for the 20mmx40mm antenna, range should be 25cm (unless the graph is wrong and this should be millimeters, but that seems unlikely as the worst antenna would have a 1mm range which is unreasonable). I cannot find any indication in the technical literature that the range will be dependent on whether the dual port memory is providing power to the whole board through its energy harvesting output.  If anyone can provide an answer to me regarding whether or not the range is dependent on the energy harvesting output load, it will be appreciated. Posted on September 25, 2013 at 16:57occasionally when I send a  CR95HFDll_SendReceive command, I get error code 4 back. 5 I understand - the USB is not connected, so I simply reconnect, but 4 is a communication error. How can I recover from this in my program? (it does not matter whether a tag is there or now) as currently the only way I can do it is by resetting the computer or running the ST M24LRxx application. #cr95hf #select-protocol

If I use the dual-interface EEPROM software from the ST website, select Reader Application and select M24LR64A, then click Read, or alternatively, 'show RF file transfer tools' and then save EEProm into a file' it does what I want, however I want to be able to include this functionality into my own software.I have not programmed a hardware unit like this before, so am just getting used to it. Posted on August 20, 2013 at 11:49 Hello, I'm using an RFID reader (Feig LRM1002) with 2 different version of the M24LRXX chip : - M24LR04E (ANT3-M24LR04E) - M24LR16E (ANT1-M24LR16E and ANT2-M24LR16E) A problem appear when I scan my tag : When I send an ''Inventory'' command there are no problems, I can see both versions of the chip. The problem appear when I send a ''Read or Write Multiple Blocks'' command. With the M24LR16E I have an error message : ''No Transponder In Reader Field'' (it works well with the M24LR04E). I tried the ''Extended Adress Mode'' but it didn't change anything. Do you know what the problem could be ? For information I use the demo software provided by the reader manufacturer (Feig ISOStart).

Posted on July 30, 2013 at 16:09Hello I try to find out the difference between Reader Application M24LR04E and Reader Application M24LR16E when it comes to data reading. As far as I understood both components (M24LR04E and M24LR16E) operate with identic commands. In my case I only want to read data from block 0x000 to 0x00F. On both components exist the requested memory range. Further I do not use any password protection. When I read data from M24LR16E with Reader Application M24LR04E all what I get back is just ''no Tag answer''. Why only M24LR16E works with Reader Application M24LR16E and not with Reader Application M24LR04E? Where is the difference?

I know the product has been designed as a passive tag, For RFID communication the power come from the reader and when we want to communicate via I2C we have to power the tag via 2 power pins (VCC and VSS). My question is :  if I power the tag myself (via VCC and VSS) and then  try to communicate via RFID. Is it going to change the read range or not ? What energy source's the tag is going to use ? The RF output of CR95HF (TX1, TX2) is first connected to an EMC filter (L1, L3, C1, C4), do you have recommended component values for this EMC filter? (Note that their product will be first launched in US.) 2. Within the CR95HF demo board schematic (please see attached), it is not clear to them how the two resistors (circled in picture) are mounted. Could you provide some guidance here? 3. We noticed that CR95HF supports two VPS_TX range: 2.7V � 3.3V, 4.5V � 5.5V. What, if any are the performance tradeoffs between these two operating conditions? I can see the code to go on the M24LR board, but not the code for the USB connected RF transceiver. I'm considering modifying the code running this board, but I would be much happier if I had a working binary to reflash back to the board if I make a mistake - full source code would be even better, if possible.Thanks, #m24lr-discovery #cr95hf-firmware

The maximum ambient operating temperature of  a grade 3 device is 125°C, so the junction temerature has to be higher. There is no mentioning of a maximum junction temperature in the data sheet. I also looking for junction to ambient thermal resistance of the M95256-W in the SO-8 package. Best regards, Thomas
