Posted on July 16, 2018 at 08:55Hi,I am using ISM330DLC  accelerometer and gyroscope sensor.I have initialized the accelerometer & Gyroscope register and reading the respective X,Y,Z register and that is providing huge noise in gyroscope values. And I am getting variation from one value to next value. But using FIFO the noise is less compared to the manually read. What is cause for the issue and how to reduce the noise ? why do they give me much less noisier results when I read them from FIFO?Thank you,Sharmila

Posted on June 06, 2018 at 19:15GreetingsI am using the LIS2MDL to build a magnetic field sensor for the education market.  When the magnetic field being measured exceeds the maximum allowed value, I notice that the LIS2MDL returns unpredictable data rather than 0x7fff (32767) or 0x8000 (-32768).Is there a way I can detect a magnetic field measurement overflow so that our visualization software can let the user know the measurement data is invalid?Thank youScott Wild

Posted on June 21, 2018 at 17:23Dear all,I'm working on a LSM6DS3 chip.I have configured it to exploit the Activity/Inactivity recognition functionalities, and all is working.On the other hand, I'm not able to do the following and/or to find documentation references for that.The chip recovers from the Inactivity state to the fully Active state if I shake it or tap it, which is fine. But I would like to restore the fully Active state by software, without the need of physically touching the sensor.Is there any way this can be achieved?I tried resetting registers, re-configuring and so on, but this seems not to be working.Thanks for help and hints.Cheers,Roberto#accelerometer #lsm6ds3 #power-saving

Posted on June 29, 2018 at 19:58 I am seeing some odd behavior when using the LSM6DSL sensor.I have configured it to use the FIFO in continuous mode, enabled storing of gyro and accelerometer data, and enabled wakeups and the wakeup interrupt.The interrupts are working properly when a wakeup event has been detected, and I am able to pull samples out of the FIFO. However, the pattern registers(FIFO_STATUS3) do not seem to update once the overrun bit has been set. I am always seeing the same value for every pattern value that I read. Do the FIFO_STATUS3 registers stop updating once the FIFO has overrun? Or is there a setup step that I may be missing? #fifo-buffer #lsm6dsl

Posted on July 07, 2018 at 09:55I have conducted little research of temperature influence on accelerometr and gyroscope readings. The sensors were cooled to a negative temperature on celsius, and then heated under the IR lamp to approximately 50 degrees in complete rest without movement. And I have noticed some strange thing. On the graph of the dependence of acceleration and angular velocity on temperature for LSM6SL present nonlinear jump. I want to get explanation of this effect from ST developers.PS LSM9DS1 has such effect in in a more less degree. LS303AGR hasn't such effect.

A VL53L1X has been soldered on a board, and the result I get from ranging are offset by at least 15%. Can it be caused by the soldering itself? Will calibration remove the offset?

Posted on June 28, 2018 at 04:13Can anyone tell me how to get a DRDY_MAG on the LSM303C?  Is that the correct interrupt to try and get for the magnetometer?  I'm trying to get mag data at about 10Hz and want an interrupt.  Nothing I have done has caused the interrupt to happen (using an oscilloscope to see the interrupt).I have two spark fun breakout boards.  The accelerometer works fine.  The magnetometer does not call any interrupt that I can see.  The documentation shows the pin, but it doesn't say anything about it.On startup, I am doing a reset of both the accelerometer and the magnetometer.  WHO_AM_I reads correctly for both.I've attached the data sheet I'm using -- you can search for DRDY_MAG and find very little.My configuration looks like this (I'm hoping it's self explanatory):/* Accelerometer */ LSM_FIFO_CTRL reg_fifo_ctrl; reg_fifo_ctrl.FM

Posted on July 16, 2018 at 00:47We are evaluating embedded controllers this as a summer intern project and wanted to try the TE Arduino Weather Shield with a STM32F746G-Disco board.  The shield plugs directly into the Arduino V3 pins on the discovery board.  We are using Atollic True Studio with the STM32cube templates for the touch screen and have pasted in the HAL I2C example to see the basic I2C send and receive calls using HAL.Now to the problems - We have downloaded code from GitHub for the TE Weather Shield sensors but they use the Arduino Wire.H  and Wire.cpp to communicate to each of the 5 sensors on the shield.  I would like to know if anybody has written a translator using HAL calls for the wire.h /  wire.cpp functions that could be used.  Another question is how best to use the HAL GPIO  to set/select the on-shield sensor.  I am finding that it is apparently difficult to find documentation on the

I have multiple sensors in application and i don't want to have reset/shudown lines for every single one of them just for doing address assignment. What should I use MEMS microphone or 3-axis  Accelerometer  or Both? I am using stepper motor to  drive a pump and I would like to monitor the behavior of entire assembly. I have found an latest reference design STEVAL-IDP005V1 which contain both  IIS2DH ( 3-axis Accelerometer ) and MP34DT05 ( mems microphone ). Could you explain me why on the reference design are both sensors and is there any specific software which based on the sensor input notify system about specific behavior? Thanks a lot in advnaceJacek

Posted on July 10, 2018 at 16:06I am developing a project with the LSM6DS3 IMU sensor. I found that the data I got is a little bit different at different time of the day. The test setup is basically the same. I suspect the differences is due to the temperature of the environment. Does the temperature affect the data? This sensor has an internal temperature sensor and I can read the temperature, do I need to do any compensation? Posted on July 10, 2018 at 01:57Hello, Would it be possible to run the LIS3DH accelerometer without a controller? I know one would be required to program the registers for device configuration, but would it be possible to configure it just once, then remove the controller aspect. For context, I would like to use the freefall interrupt feature to trigger something. I would only need the interrupt feature and I wouldn't really need to gather the data. Would I be able to write my configs to flash memory, then remove the controller and still be able to detect interrupts?

It seems the compiler doesn't support 'windows.h', windows API.Now I am trying to create a new control program with reference to the data sheet [DoclD029104], but I could not understand where the contents of INDEX is described.So I want to know how can I get the information about VL53L0X's register composition or another API.thanks#VL53L0X

Posted on April 23, 2018 at 08:37Hi everyone,I am using STM32L475 B-L475E-IOT01 kit. My problem is that it does not give me sensors values at once. I want to get the temperature, humidity, pressure, accelerometer and gyro at once. But it only gives me 4 sensor values at once. For example, I have to comment out my one of the sensor code then it gives me the sensor values otherwise when I load my code into the kit with 5 sensors code then the user LED is not blinking. There is no error in the code. I run the code for every sensor individually to get the values and it gives me the values.  Please help me with this problem.thank you

Posted on June 28, 2018 at 11:54 Hi, I am using the M95320 EEPROM and sending RDID instruction to read the Device Identification page however the device is responding with 0xFF for all 32 bytes on the MISO line. The 2 byte address I am sending is 0x00 0x00. The EEPROM IC has: Vcc and S with a 102k ResistorHOLD is HIGHW is HIGH I also send theRDSR instruction to read the status byte and the IC is responding with 0x00 on the MISO line. I am very confused as it seems that I can read the Status Byte, but not the Device Information. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. edit: I can confirm now that I can read and write Memory data via the READ and WRITE commands. I want to interface board to AARDVARK I2C/SPI adapter using which I can generate I2C/SPI signals to the sensor. I connected sensor board to adapter, using SPI serial protocol, which gives 00 when I read WHO_AM_I register. If I interchange MISO and MOSI connections, it gives FF to the same register. What does these output values try to tell me. What should I understand? can any one help me. I could succeed reading WHO_AM_I register by using I2C.

Posted on February 13, 2017 at 15:59What does the TEMP_COMP bit in CTRL_REG1_M of the magnetometer do?  Do the offsets need to be programmed for it to work?We are seeing up to 10 degree heading variations when moving the temperature from 10C to 30C, and need to find a way to correct for it.
