STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

Hi All, sanity check sought:I'm using the blue pill (STM32F103C8T6) for a audio project powered & controlled through the serial/USB.I'm using the STM32 cube and a dev board for the s/w which looks ok; in terms of software I've followed https://controllerstech.com/send-and-receive-data-to-pc-without-uart-stm32-usb-com/ and that works ok. My concern is with the serial -  assuming the above s/w process outlined in the link, is this everything I need for USB communications hardware wise? Or in general anything I'm missing? For instance:*I've seen resistors on the D+ and D- lines in previous designs, though I'm not sure is these are needed*I'm using the MIC29302WU as I've quite high current demands from the USB (<500mA) to drive a speaker (this explains the LDO's presence / the requirements)*Can the VBAT pin be left unconnected or does it need a pullup/down? even if not used*Boot0 and 1 tied low ok? I'll be using the SWD to flash and won't need to debug/program th

Hello,I have been working with a Nucleo eval board and have not had any problems with the ST-Link connection. Recently I got an ST-Link/V2 ISOL dongle to use with a custom board using the same chip, and have been unable to connect with it. There seem to be a couple issues, I'll detail them below. In these examples I am using the STM32Programmer Tool since it has the most verbosity, but I have similar results with the STLink Utility and the AC6 System Workbench.1) The USB connection is flaky: When I try to refresh the connection, or connect to the target, frequently it loses the USB connection and I have to either unplug or disable/renable the device to reconnect. See below: The first connect succeeded, and then I get a DEV_USB_COMM_ERR when I try to refresh. When using the EVAL board I can refresh the connection with no issues.2) The board voltage is incorrect. With the eval board, I see the target voltage of ~3.3V. With the dongle, I've seen anything from 0V to 2.2V, but never 3.3V. I

I want to stuff the extra connectors so that I can plug the nucleo onto a backboard, but I want to make sure that they are the same length.. I have been unable to find what appear to be compatible connectors in stock anywhere?​. ​This has to be a frequent need but I have just been unlucky at finding the information.​

Hello, I have a custom PCB with STM32F427VIT6. Been reading and learning a lot about MCU's in general. I'm very new to all of this so please bare with me.When PCB is connected to the PC via usb, it shows up as HID device (it emulates gamepad/controller).I'll assume it has a custom bootloader and firmware The PCB comes with a custom .exe for flashing directly via USB. It also comes with a custom dump .exePCB comes with 1 USB-C (act as UART maybe?)The custom .exe can be flashed via USB after I put it in DFU mode I presume? (I hold the boot button, it flashes a specific color to allow the flashing). I can click on flash, restore, or even backup basic configs. once I unplug, plug back in, it becomes operational. The way I put it in flash mode is by having the PCB off, keep ressing boot button then pluggin the USB.I would like to retrieve the firmware/bootloader so I can test it in another board. I tried STM32Cube, ST flash, and many others, but it doesn't seem to recogn

Hello,  I'm working on a canbus project and I'm trying to read some data on the nucleo to confirm that my hardware setup works good since it's not a common use. At this point:- MCP2515 communication via SPI with the RPI5 and it's well configured. - I'm using boards and I'm only doing wire connections and the 120ohm resistors are already on the boards. - I'm using can1rx and tx, clock and can configuration attached as screen shots and projects attached. - I didn't check the canH canL with the oscilloscope since I don't have one, I'm waiting for the one I just ordered. But I checked the wiring many time. on the RPI5 side it show's that data are sent but no acknoledgment.- I am trying to check if the Nucleo is receiving data but it's receiving nothing for now (as per my code)Can you help if there is anything wrong with the setup?In my case, any different between using the can1 or can2?   int main(void) { /* USER CODE BEGIN 1 */ /* USER CODE END

I am working on a project using the built-in LCD display of the STM32H747I-DISCO board. However, the display output shows unintended thin lines and color distortions, appearing as if the colors are breaking. I am unsure whether this issue is caused by a hardware defect in the display itself or a misconfiguration in the IOC settings and debugging process. To troubleshoot, I ran the TouchGFX game example without any modifications, but the same issue persists. I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this..... 

Good day Folks,I am trying to get a simple program working on the STM32N6 Nucleo board, however when debugging an interruptoccurs causing the code just to get stuck in the Default Handler.I am not sure what interrupt is triggering it.This is most likely a 1 line fix, or some arbitrary setting I haven't found yet.Steps:1. Change Boot 1 jumper to VCC2. Connect USB, Red LED2 is On.3. Started a new STM32 project and used the Example Selector. Select and Build GPIO_IOToggle.  4. Make Debug profile and connect5. Wait until main() entered.6. Click Run.. No LED flashing so Pause debugger7. Resetting the Micro just freezes and the device never gets the first main() breakpoint. I was expecting it to return to Step 5.8. Pausing at that point just shows the device is at some address.9. We need to restart the debugger session from scratch: In summary, Pausing the Debugger on Step 6 shows its stuck. I don't believe it's anything related to XSPI3, as adding a handler for it, just makes

Hi,STM32N6570-DK preloaded code works with the default MB1854B camera board. My question is:"Does the default firmware support VD66GY?" I tried and could not make it work.When I switch the camera module to VD66GY S-BOARD, the LCD shows "Camera not detected, power off  board, connect camera, power on board". I double checked my S-BOARD with STEVAL-EVK-U0I (PCB4405C) and it works fine. I also checked the FFC connection to make sure the TYPE B cable has to be used for my S-BOARD instead of TYPE A cable included in the DK kit. Thanks,Jimmy

Once I connect st-link v2-1 to STM32G473VBT6, there is a disk added into my PC, and there are 2 files in the disk. One is DETAILS.TXT(Version: V2J37M26 Build:  May 13 2020 17:07:43), another is FAIL.TXT (The interface firmware FAILED to reset/halt the target MCU). If I try to debug in STM32CubeIDE, it shows "Target unknown error 32Error in initializing ST-LINK device.Reason: Unknown. Please check power and cabling to target."I tryied to tie Boot0 to high or low, but it did not resolved the problem.

Hi,I'm using the STM32U5G7VJT6Q microcontroller to read input from a few switches. All switches should show a high state when unpressed (due to the pull-up resistor) and a low state when pressed (grounded).However, one switch is acting strangely:When it's unpressed, it stays in a low (reset) state, but it should be high.It only changes to high when another switch is pressed.The other switches are working fine.The switch is connected in the following order: TVS diode -> Pull-up resistor -> RC filter -> GPIO pin.The GPIO pins are set as inputs with internal pull-ups enabled.The wiring looks correct, and the pull-up resistor is in place.The other switches behave as expected.Tried removing the tvs diode and capacitor in rc as well, still the same behavior occursNote: No input of the switches are shorted or grounded, the behavior is observed in all the boards we fabricated.Questions:1) What is the possible cause for this behavior?    

I have ordered STM32N6570-DK board in order to start working on STM32N6 MCU.But I was confused how to set it up. And STM does not tell you. Here, what I have figured out:1. Orientation of PFC cable for camera:Place the contacts of the FPC cable towards the PCB (you should see still the blue plastic cover and the text on cable in normal orientation of setup).The camera module and its connector is very delicate: make sure not to lose the black bridge used in order to tighten the cable: I lost my one immediately somewhere under my desk.2. You need an USB-C power supply!Nobody tells you, but what I found:The board - WITHOUT the camera activated - draws already 470..480mA of current (e.g., via USB-A from USB hub to USB-C on DK board).If you activate now the "AI" feature on the demo, where the camera is activated and "should" show you the live video on LCD screen: all remains dark, both LEDs are red and even NRST button does not work (does not bring back the board to live).You need: a real U

Hi,I am using a STM32H753Zl MCU and have configured an FT pin (PCO) for 5V digital inputs. However, since the pin is floating I have enabled the internal pull-down resister via CubelDE. While testing it worked fine, but is there anydamage this could cause to the board in the long run?Thanks

Hello,I am currently using STM32N6657XOHXQ(Discovery Kit), I am running the (XSPI_NOR_MemoryMapped_DTR) example from STM32CubeMX. I have added UART print to debug the issue. Below are steps to reproduce the issue I am seeing.1. Put the board in development board (BOOT1 Switch position 1-3, BOOT0 Switch Position 1-2) For flashing external memory.2. Ran the exe.3. Open STM32CubeProgrammer and open erasing and programming tab.4. Select the project-trusted.bin then select "Verify Programming"5. Select "Download file" and write "-cb" in "Option Bytes Command"6. Select Erase External Memory and then click on "start programming".6. Put the board in boot mode (BOOT1 Switch position 1-2, BOOT0 Switch Position 1-2)7. Press Reset Button.When the code is flashing first time it works, Green LED Blinks and UART Output is attached below.8. But when reset button is pressed again it doesn't generate output as above..I have attached my code in which UART is added to verify board boot status.UA

STM32g474 code execute automatically without pressing RUN when i put MCU in debugging mode in uVision.Anyone knows where im wrong?Note:- Reset pin is not connected pull up or down.

Hello everyone,I am currently working on interfacing the Winbond W25Q16JV with my STM32H745 custom board over QSPI but have been facing issues with communication. I've utilized resources from ST’s QSPI library available at:ST QSPI DriversDespite following the provided implementation, I am unable to achieve successful communication. When I flash the program, it either:Gets stuck in the middle of the QSPI initialization function.Occasionally, it even bricks the board.Additionally, I have referred to Controllers Tech YouTube tutorials for guidance:Controllers Tech - QSPI PlaylistI will attach the MX file (ZIP) for reference. Has anyone successfully interfaced the W25Q16JV with the STM32H7 series? Any insights, suggestions, or debugging tips would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any experience with BGA hand soldering?   I have always tried to stay away from BGA parts as far as prototyping and being able to rework a pcb.  But now with choices between small pitch LQFP parts and BGA I am wondering if a 176 - 206 ball bga may be easier to work with than the same pin count LQFP? Any feedback is appreciated.  

Hello,I am trying flash my STM32F746G Discovery board with new code from Linux. I run into this issue after running "dmesg -w": "can't set config #1, error -32". ST-Link is not being detected by either STMCubeIDE and STMCubeProgrammer. Has anyone run into this issue before?Furthermore, I had code flashed to the Discovery board that had a screen show, but I am met with a black screen when I connect it to power. The LED next to the ST-Link flashes red. I've also tried changing my debugger from ST-Link to SEGGER, but I met with the error "Could not determine GDB version using command: arm-none-eabi-gdb --version," and I am currently looking into this. I'm hoping that this is not a board issue but rather a software issue, but at this point it seems like this may be a board issue.Regardless, has anyone had any issues like this, and can provide any tips on what to do from here?

Hello, I‘m creating a counter that increments/decrements according to cw/ccw direction of an encoder. An interrupt is triggered by the rising and falling edge on each channel. Due to mechanical jitter, the interrupts are triggered (sometimes) simultaneously and will increment by values greater than 1. New question from this thread. So in order to use both SMPS and LDO, given in board schematics,I mounted SB6 and SB17 (SB44, SB46, L4 already mounted)and removed SB5 and SB18 (rest already not mounted).After than i flashed it with keeping the following settings. Im still getting the same error.

Hello,I have generated a makefile project on CubeIDE for STM32WB55RG and I'm trying to debugging it on CubeIDE . After a research on the forum I got to know that this is achievable and set up build settings accordingly.  When I try to debug I get the error: ../Drivers/STM32WBxx_HAL_Driver/Src/stm32wbxx_hal.c:35:10: fatal error: stm32wbxx_hal.h: No such file or directory    35 | #include "stm32wbxx_hal.h"       | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ compilation terminated. I've checked my file system and the file does exist and on my Makefile file I have it included (4th code line) # C includes C_INCLUDES = \ -ICore/Inc \ -IDrivers/STM32WBxx_HAL_Driver/Inc \ -IDrivers/STM32WBxx_HAL_Driver/Inc/Legacy \ -IDrivers/CMSIS/Device/ST/STM32WBxx/Include \ -IDrivers/CMSIS/Include  Still don't understand why the file can't be found. Any clue? 

I'm trying to find any documentation for the pinout of Nucleo-H755ZI-Q. The GPIO pins for CN12 and CN11 are written on the board but not CN7, CN10, CN8, CN9.How can I know which GPIO pins are connected to which pin on this connector?
