STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

I am trying to flash STM32G431 (UFQFPN32 5x5) Other STM devices like x103 are flashing just fine, but this one fails.I even desoldered it from the actual project PCB, and hooked it up with the four SWD pins only, and still fail.the main difference may me that it had a 24Mhz clock source, and then had ..nothing.Is there any reason to believe that this chip needs anything more than SWDIO, SWCLK, and 3v3,GND to program? - (NRST is not connected)..or maybe those are a bit more picky about wire lengths/firmware version etc? 

Just wondering if anyone else sees this on the regular.I have a custom board with an STM32F107 MCU (but I see this across hardware projects with various ST MCUs).I have the ST-LINK/v2 doing SWD to the MCU and it's connected to the host PC through a SABRENT-brand 10-port USB-3 hub.Every so often, an attempt to start a debug session or program the MCU gets stuck with the ST-LINK's LED going to solid green.  Only replugging the ST-LINK's USB connection gets it going again.  Sometimes it happens several times in a row.Have other people encountered this sort of behavior when using ST-LINK/v2 with a hub?  Note that mainly due to cable lengths I haven't tried plugging it straight into the computer.  

Issue: I am working with the STM32U5G9J-DK2 board using USB CDC-ACM in device mode, generated using CubeMX. However, I am encountering an issue where the application USB port is not recognized in the Device Manager. Only the ST-LINK Virtual COM Port appears, and there is no additional COM port for the USB CDC device.What I Have Tried:I generated the project using CubeMX and made sure to configure USB_OTG_HS in CDC-ACM mode.After generating the code, I followed the standard procedure and used the example code from the following link:  https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STM32CubeU5/tree/main/Projects/STM32U5G9J-DK2  When I run the code, it gets stuck in the USB core reset function (USB_CoreReset();).I am providing power through the application USB port, but it still does not appear in the Device Manager.Questions:Do I need to short any specific pin or connection on the STM32U5G9J-DK2 board to enable the application USB port for detection?Could this issue be related

I am using nucleo board, however, I try to use debugger on board for external board or stm32 microcontroller. I notice 6pin swd (cn6) on debugger. the first pin is VDD_targert. I followed up the wiring and connect to external target board. When I connect usb to pc, I found out pin 1(VDD_target) on CN6 doesn't have 3.3V. So If I would like to use this debugger for external target, I need power on target board or microcontroller to get this pin to have 3.3VDC, right?Thank you for any help

Hi. I have a collection of STM32VL_Discovery boards, and I want to put them to good use. I am looking for the STM32100B-EVAL software library package. The latest downloads by CubeMX do not include anything for the 100B-EVAL. I am particularly interested in finding the application demo with the menu selection of all the apps supplied.Is this still package available for download for those of us still finding use for these older boards.Thanks KV

Hello I am trying to currently flash and install a firmware file that is stored in a SD card in a STM32F746- Discovery board onto the board. I am new at working in this type the project the board its working as a mass storage device using the SD card as the storage and I want to be able to install any firmware files that is stored in the SD card tough an exe app I develop to be able and install it. I heard that using jumper it can be done, does anyone have any idea of how to do it or if anyone know any other way around.

I am trying to put nfc02a1 with wl55jc1I have set the settings as required in Dynamic NFC tag IC expansion board based on M24LR04E for STM32 NucleoBut some of the pins required to be set have other functions in wl55jc1I have reset them to match nfc02a1But only led2 worksWhat is the suggested solutionThanks in advance

The datasheet is a bit light on details about what to do with these pins if you are not using USB at all. Can I ground both of them, or does there need to be a supply voltage on VDD33USB?One of the notes on the Absolute Maximum Ratings section in the datasheet says "All main power (VDD, VDDA, VDD33USB, VDDSMPS, VBAT) and ground (VSS, VSSA) pins must always beconnected to the external power supply, in the permitted range," but I don't know if this means that ground is a valid "external power supply."For example, in other parts of the datasheet it says that VBAT must be connected to VDD even if a battery is unused. However, it also says VDDSMPS should be connected to GND if unused. So I am unsure about the meaning.

I have a STM32F030F4 controller on a custom board that has worked without issues so far. Running STM32CubeIDE in a Windows 10 virtual machine on Linux, I was able to flash/debug it through an ST-Link/V2 adapter.Now the firmware has grown to 7176 (0x1c08) bytes long, and the built-in STM32CubeProgrammer can no longer flash it. I am trying to program a STM32F411E-DISCO with a new MacBook Pro. I installed STLink and then I installed the IDE. When I try to debug, the IDE says no STLink is detected. Hi,I am using STM32H7S78-DK Board, I am configuring XSPI2 in Stm32CubeMX for enabling external 1-Gbit Nor flash memory. But when I am writing the data into the Memory address (i.e. 0x700000000) it is going into the hard fault handler in STM32CubeIDE. Why?I am referring the Repository files of the mentioned Board (XSPIM_SwappedMode) and MX66LM1G46G datasheet for writing the data into the flash memory. Writing and reading is not an issue but when I am trying into move the data into the memory it is creating an issue. Why?What changes needs to be done to write and read the data into the memory?Thanks in advance.

I need to purchase a development/evaluation board to perform my development activity. We had finalised to use STM32F765VGT mcu and i need a compatible eval board for that as i don't want too much hazzel to port code to targetted MCU.I found this eval board, stm32f779i-eval. Is this compatible and requires less effort for porting or changing the mcu in the cubemx. Need support on this. Regards,Aashik

Hi, We are thinking of integrating the STLINK-V3MODS onto a bigger board. With ST-linkV2 we have the problem that when the V2 is not powered by USB, but is connected to the target MCU, it will pull the NRST pin to GND, causing the target MCU to not boot up.When we integrate the STLINK-V3MODS onto the PCB. Should we make sure this STLINK-V3MODS is always powered through the 5V line to make sure it will not pull down our reset line of the target MCU? Best regards,

Hi,I am new to the STM32 Discovery boards. I've chosen the STM32F072B-DISCO as my Discovery kit and am currently exploring how to begin developing applications with it.As per the 'Getting Started with STM32F072DISCOVERY' video and the UM1715 User manual, the software development tools mentioned are IAR Embedded Workbench, Microcontroller Development Kit for ARM (MDK-ARM) by Keil, and TrueSTUDIO by Atollic.Could you please inform me if the board is compatible with the ST Development tools such as STM32CubeMX and STM32CubeIDE? Good Morning,I'm trying to setup the STM32U083C-DK dev kit.  The user manual UM3292 Getting Started section, step 2, mentions installing the STLINK-V2EC USB Driver, but the link referenced doesn't take me to the driver.  Where can I find the driver?  Or is there a newer driver?  My workstation is a Win 11.  Gordon Margulieuxgordonmx@gmail.com
