Posted on February 28, 2018 at 18:37Hey there!Can anyone explain to me how to calculate the correct acceleration values in mg for various resolutions and scales?For example, I am currently reading acceleration values with  ODR set to 0110, which is  HR / Normal / Low-power mode (200 Hz). The Full scale selection is set to +/-2g for this example. As both the LPen and the HR bit are set to 0, I am in Normal mode with a 10-bit data output. If I shift the values >> 4, I am getting values which seem to be correct. For example 1000 mg (= 1g) on the z-axis, which makes sense I guess, as it is 1*gravitational acceleration.On the right of the table above is writte

Posted on March 05, 2018 at 07:46In many other IC I saw NC pin being connected to GND. However, in LIS3DH, it is not recommended that we should leave it floating or connect it to GND. So I'm wondering if there is any problem if we connect the NC pins to GND?

I have downloaded expansion board library files but it only has Data Logger and Audio LoopBack programs. I tried to run BLE expansion board programs on SensorTile, it programmed successfully but did not work. Could you please help me, where can I get SensorTile demo program? Posted on March 03, 2018 at 10:30Hi,We have integrated ISM330DLC driver with our Linux Kernel and we wanted to test both accelerometer and Gyroscope at the same time.Please let us know how to configure the interrupt for each of the sensor Accelerometer and Gyroscope at the same time .Also we are not finding any interrupt based sample application to read data from the sensor both accelerometer and gyroscope.Please help us as we have not tested integrated sensors.Thank you,Deepanraj.A

Here, application notes having explanation and example code snippets helped a lot for the development.Recently we tried ST's 'LSM6DS3' for doing same operation (collecting raw data through FIFO buffer) and thinking to move on with it. But, we are facing issue in collecting data through FIFO buffer. Even, there is no much dedicated application note for the same. Could anybody help us in resolving following queries: For output data rate of 104 Hz, is it like we will get each of X, Y and Z as 104 samples or sum total of samples of X, Y and Z will be 104? We need the output data rate (ODR) of 104Hz through accelerometer. Posted on February 21, 2018 at 22:43Hello,We're using the LSM6DS33 accelerometer/gyrometer in a product, which is expected to be continuously manufactured for ~5 years. I'm slightly worried about its longevity. I know that nowadays it is listed as Active, and also that it is not in any longevity program.Is it expected to be classified as NRND soon? Can I use it in this application without worries or should I be prepared for future changes since the beginning?Thanks,

Posted on February 27, 2018 at 19:50Hey there, I am currently trying to read some acceleration data with the LSM303AGR via SPI.In order to do so, I have already set up the SPI and accelerometer and I have accomplished to readthe who_am_i register successfully. But there is something off with the values I am reading from the sensor.It seems like I am always getting the same, lets say 5, random values, no matter how fast I twist and turn the sensor.For example, the OUT_X_H_A (29h) always seems to be either 228 or 229. The OUT_X_L_A (28h) register on the otherhand is either 96,160, 0 or 224. It does not matter if I move the sensor. The same szenario applies to the other axes (Y and Z) too, and I cannot explain why. I have enabled all axes.Power-mode-selection is: HR / Normal / Low-power mode (200Hz)LPen Bit is 0.I have enabled 3-wire SPI BDU Bit is 0 (I have also tested with BDU

Posted on February 27, 2018 at 16:03Hello,We are using the LSM303AGR e-Compass in a wearable device and I am trying to obtain a tilt compensated heading. I followed the ST DT0058 document (Computing tilt measurement and tilt-compensated e-compass), but the heading I get is not tilt (or pitch) compensated.I have now purchased a NUCLEO-L476RG development board with X-NUCLEO-IKS01A2 expansion board to evaluate the e-Compass using the Unicleo GUI Windows app. I have built and downloaded the required firmware to the development board and the GUI is working to a point. I can view the realtime sensor data by clicking on the User Messages tab, and I can log the data to file using the Datalog button, but if I click on the ECompass button then the frame of the ECompass window displays, but the graphic of the compass does not. The same sort of thing happens if I click on the Motion MEMS, Environmental or Scatter buttons.I am running version 1.3

Posted on January 24, 2015 at 22:56We have noticed that the accelerometer stops sampling after some time (10+).  When that happens, the only work around is to write 0x0 in REG4, and then re-writing the original value of 0x37.  Anyone has encountered a similar problem? Cheers, #sampling-freeze

Posted on February 17, 2018 at 12:00I am seeking about the average current consumption of LIS3DH in FIFO mode (@10Hz). In its datasheet the current consumption in Low power mode, Normal mode, and High resolution mode is said to be 3~4 uA. I used the official driver and achieved to these values. As its driver is incomplete in FIFO mode, I could not test this device in FIFO mode. Could you please tell me about the current consumption in FIFO mode? Additionally, Could you share any sample code for driving the LIS3DH in FIFO mode ?#fifo #current-consumption #lis3dh

Posted on February 06, 2018 at 16:45It is my understanding that the LSM330DLC is a 'System-In-Package', that is it is a separate accelerometer and gyro die packaged together. What are the actual die part numbers?The reason I ask is that the LSM330DLC is rather spares on explanation of what the various bits in the registers do. Bit wise the bits seem to match the LIS3DH, however the actual register addresses are different.Also the LIS3DH has the Block Data Update (BDU) feature to safely read the multi-byte (10 and 12 bit) data registers, where the LSM330DLC says not to enable this. How can the mutil-byte data be safely read without corrupted readings?The bottom line question is what other supporting documentation is there for the LSM330DLC? LIS3DH and AN3308 seem close, however are not an exact match.#lsm330dlc

I've installed the GUI by running Setup_Unico_5.0.0.0.exe and installed the driver by running VCP_V1.4.0_Setup.exe. Unfortunately, whenever I run Unico to evaluate LIS3DH (STEVAL-MKI105V1) on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine the program crashes on me. Any idea why this might be happening? Posted on February 21, 2018 at 17:38Does the LIS2DE12 have an InActivity interrupt that can be set in a control Register. The Lis2HH12  has the InActivity interrupt which can be set in control register(0x22).  I do not want to use the Lis2HH since it uses more current.

Posted on February 16, 2018 at 17:47Hi all,I'm try to understand what can be the real usable resolution of the LIS3DSH accelerometer because I need to evaluate it for inclometric measurements.From the datasheet I can read a PSD=150ug/sqrt(Hz) @ ODR=100 Hz then BW=50 HzFor a analog output with one single pole filter the overall noise can be calculated as PSD*SQRT(1.57*BW),supposing to use same calculation we have 150ug*SQRT(78.5)=1.33mg, having a sensitivity equal to 0.06 mg/digit @ ±2g we have:1.33mg/0.06 mg/digit = 22.16 digit of error then instead the theoretical 16 bit we should have 65536/22.16=2957.4 digit which is approx equivalent to 11-12 bit of final resolution.I kindly ask if this is a correct mode to estimate the real final resolution by taking in account the effect of the noise or if I missing some point and then what can be the correct way to perform this calculation.Hope someone can point me in the
