Hi, I have an LIS2DW12 fitted to a STEVAL-MKI179V1 board. I have it connected to a microcontroller programmed to set an interrupt pin on wake up as per DT0098. The interrupt pin goes high with a light tap in the xy or z axis. However I want it to detect angular movement in any plane due to gravity. How do I achieve this? Is it to do with the HF filter? I am implementing an “auto calibration�? of the ROI in my people counting algorithm based on the one provided by ST. The program defines the centers of the two zones used to detect entry/exit in an area. Currently I run a simple detection algorithm to measure repeatable accuracy of distance measurements. I tweak the ROI sizes until I find the best accuracy but I do not change the center coordinates. These values are constant and still the same as the values ST provided in their example. I want to know if those values are indeed constant or should I adjust them as part of the calibration? I’m wondering if the ROI size is set to an uneven number..does that mean the zone will not be symmetrical about its center?Thanks!

I am on my second X-NUCLEO-53L0A1 board, a replacement for the first board that suffered from the same problem. I have an STM32F401RE development board and I put the X-NUCLEO-53L0A1 board with its single detector only and I get as far as the Windows application flashing the firmware on the STM32F401RE but after that it exhibits very strange behaviour. If I am lucky, the app starts to run and I can move my hand up and down, but it doesn't run for long, maybe 15s and then it dies, it comes up with an error about timeout or over-range and then it never works again. Eventually, not working at all, i.e. getting stuck with opening COMx so I returned the board (actually I was asked to toss it in the trash) and a replacement was sent next-day delivery. Unfortunately, the replacement board behaves in exactly the same way on every Windows computer I can find, from single core x32 right up to 32 core x64. Hello,I'm working on a project with a VL6180X ranging sensor, and I'm running into the problem that it responds to reflective surfaces far beyond the desired range (100 mm) - e.g. it picks up reflective stripes on the jackets of emergency personnel at over 1200 mm (4 feet) distance, rendering the whole thing unusable.The datasheet mentions a Wrap-Around Filter (WAF) to solve this problem; however, it turns out that this filter (and only this filter) requires the use of the VL6180X API - which is a problem, as I'm using a simple PIC controller for the overall functionality (switching on a small liquid pump when a hand is within range).I already checked out the API, but it isn't clear at all how this WAF works. Could someone shed some light on this? If it is merely a matter of setting a bunch of registers, my controller should be able to handle that just fine; and even if some continuous external processing is required, it shouldn't be impossible.

I need to know routin to use multiple LIS2DS12TR on one SPI if it's possible. If I undestood correctly nCS pin used to selecting between I2C and SPI mode. So if CS is high, SDO is open-drain. Is I need to simply connect SDO pins of LIS2DS12TR (may be with pull-up resistor) and disable I2C mode during init. procedure: I2C_DISABLE bit in CTRL2 register should override nCS pin. Or, may be use of external multiplexor or tri-state buffer is need?

I am using the standard VL6180 Breakout Board from ST connected to a pyboard running micropython.For my application I need a range at least up to 200mm using multiple reflective surfaces from reflective to not so reflective. I have managed to get the cover filters as specified in the application notes. The one I am using is the IR-T078C0-CC3L-A066-C from hornix.In this setup, I get a working range up to 200mm with a reflective surface (light coloured paper) but much lower range for a dark surface.I have not found a specific application note dedicated to the VL6180, just the VL6180X and have used that as a starting point to set up the registers. (AN4545 - VL6180X basic ranging application note). Is there a specific app note for the VL6180 I should rather use?Similarly, does ST have a pre-defined set of values for the Hornix cover filters they recommend. Hi Community,I am using Lis3dh sensor in 50HZ ODR, High Pass filter enabled with cut-off frequency 0.1 HZ with full scale range 8G and FIFO is enabled and set FIFO-to-Stream Mode.Case 1: I get interrupts for small events Normal Mode(HR bit is not set) for the same threshold and when i see the x,y,z axis value is more than the threshold. Case 2:With HR Bit enabled , I am not getting the interrupt for the same small event for the same threshold which means that event didn't cross the threshold. I am sure both time same events only happened.As per Datasheet and Application note, that Output value only will be in 12-bit in High resolution mode.Is there HR bit anyway related to do with Threshold?Please help me .Thanks,Hari

Once it is done, the comunication over the SPI would be treated as a normal/single SPI interfaces?

Could someone explain me what's going on when this sensor is placed in front of uneven surface such as stairs in open area. i'm attaching images of readings X-axis is sample number and y-axis is distance in mm. Samples are taken for every 100msec. Reading are varying from 200 to 4000 mm. I want to know just where the object is. It is tested in ambient light.

Hi, We are using VL6180X to measure the cyclic movement of a part (a flat, white plastic sheet). The amplitude of this cyclic movement is about 20mm. The distance sensors work fine but we had two recent instances where the distance sensors returned a correct amplitude and then suddenly returned a reduced amplitude of 5mm only. After resetting the sensor, measurements came back to normal.Have you ever observed such behavior? What could explain that?Thank you

I have added the X-CUBE-53L3A2 software package to STM32CubeIDE and successfully built and run the SimpleRanging sample application. I now want to make changes to the STM32F401 pin assignements (actually, add a second UART).When I click on the NucleoF401RE_53LX_Expansion.ioc file I get this error:Invalid Input: Must be project's active .ioc file.Project's 'SimpleRanging' active one is 'SimpleRanging.ioc' fileAFAIK there is no file 'SimpleRanging.ioc' How can I fix this, and where do I look to understand how these .ioc files are used within STM32CubeIDE?BTW - I am able to create new projects using .ioc files, including a new project using the existing NucleoF401RE_53LX_Expansion.ioc file

Hi there,​We are from a Spanish startup who is building People Counter solutions based at the moment on the VL53L1X. We want to move to a multi-target solution. After assisting to one of your webinars, we are aiming to migrate to either the VL53L3CX or the VL53L1(in some places we find it like that shortcut and in some as VL53L1CB). ​Going through both documentations it has been quite difficult to distinguish which one would be better for our case. Both give ranging distance per object detected and min and max distances where object is located. As differences we find that the vl53l3cx also gives the signal rate per object detected while the vl53l1 doesn't specify that. Another difference that we see is that the VL53L1 is able to have a multi-zone resolution. How is it different than when we manually define different ROIs on the VL53L1X?Thanks a lot,Alberto.

The enclosure this will be going into will be sealed and any humidity present during the manufacturing process will be trapped within the enclosure. Is there a humidity spec we should be aiming for?

The built unit will need a sensor thats able to tell if either side of the gate is open, the unit will be mounted to one of the gate posts and will need to reach both gates during day and night. Prefered to be low power since it will be solar powered.

I have tried to compile the FW in the STSW-IDP003IOLDS library for temperature sensor without errors.Trying to compile, with IAR, for other sensors I always have an error about a missing struct definition.For example, the error is "Error[Pe020]: identifier "SENSOR_StructTypedef PRX" is undefined for the proximity sensor.Where can I find the structure in order to complete the compilation?

Hi everyone,I have an VL6180X connected to a PIC18F46J50. VL6180X is powered to 3V3 and I have implemented I2C routines and application code as in https://cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Sensors/Proximity/VL6180_ApplicationNote.pdf to work in single shot mode.However, when I am polling RESULT__INTERRUPT_STATUS_GPIO I always get 0x00, so I never get a range measurement.- I am not using GPIO0 neither GPIO1- On init, I am waiting until SYSTEM__FRESH_OUT_OF_RESET is 0x01 to set the VL6180X configuration.- On Start Range I am checking RESULT__RANGE_STATUS is 0x01, and then writting 0x01 to SYSRANGE__START- I have checked I2C communications and them works correctly.Any idea of w

Hello I have previous implemented the motionfx to get quartenions using lsm6dsl and lsm303agr over i2c, and everything was working great. Now I changed the sensor lsm6dsl with lsm6dsox who is communicating over spi with stm and lsm303agr in mode2(spi-to-i2c). I have configure it the same way as it was working with the old sensor. But now If I leave the board still on the table not moving, the quartenions are changing from -0.9 to 0.9 like there are incrementing. I tried to change the orientation,data_rate,sensitivity, but nothing. I checked the raw data from the sensors and seems ok,values are stable, but still getting weird quartenions. I can confirm that read and write are working for all sensors.

I am new to STM32. My problem is that the BLE Sensor App not showing my SensorTile , I have tried to erase the STM32 and load it with the BLE Sensor.bin. PWR button seems not working, tried fit in power, result is same. Appreciate for any type of advices or suggestion.
