Hello St Community,We would like to use the VL53L1X to get a series of measurements in a 4X4 SPAD array to graph the 3D Topology of an object. We have already set the ROI and FOV. I was wondering how we could do this? Are there any relevant code examples? Thank you,

I am using LIS2HH12 with Atmel ATSAM4E8C and am able to read registers and write to registers.When I read FIFO_SRC register (0x2F) I get Bit EMPTY=1 and in STATUS register (0x27) ZYXDA is constantly 0. I am following the example from https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STMems_Standard_C_drivers/blob/master/lis2hh12_STdC/example/read_data_simple.c and has tried to enable FIFO in CTRL3 register (0x22) and FIFO_CTRL register (0x2E), but still no data in FIFO.Is there any setup steps I am missing?

The datasheet also refers to self test modes, but no explanations are given.

Hello,I can't use SMR library in GNU toolchain as only hard fp version is available from ST. I can't use hard flag to compile my application as I have other libraries compiled with soft.Thanks and Regards,Dario

Hi,I'm designing a board of VL53L1X.About the schematic of PDF (VL53L1X-SATEL) page 4.(https://www.st.com/resource/en/data_brief/vl53l1x-satel.pdf)According to a datasheet, GND of VL53L1X are 2,3,4,6,12pin.But, 6pin isn't connected with GND by the schematic.And 4,12pin are connected to GND through 1Kohm.Please tell me a reason.Thank you.

Hello,I am trying to enable the STBOX1_PRINTF macro in the BLESensors application so I can mess around with the code and see the results. When I uncomment the STBOX1_ENABLE_PRINTF in STBOX1_config.h and rebuild/upload the firmware I can see two new devices appearing in the Device Manager (I am running Windows 10) when I connect the tile. One is a "USB Serial Device COM port" and the other is "STM32 Virtual COM port in FS Mode". Both of them appear to be disabled though: The Virtual COM Port says that it does not have the driver and the USB Serial Device says that "A device which does not exist was specified", which is probably a consequence of the first one. My understanding is that Windows 10 should have all the required drivers, at least I was not able to find any downloads for Windows 10. Also, COM connection to my Nucleo board works fine. So, am I missing anything in the setup, some other components that should be updated or configured?I would really

I used the breakout and evaluation board with Unico.Now I want to use my own board with sensor.I want to use Unico to capture, process, display sensor data.I may need to implement the communication protocol via serial port.Do you have some documents about how to do it? Thanks

Posted on March 25, 2016 at 01:52I've got a board with a Gyro (L3GD20H) and Accel/Mag (LSM303D).  I'm interfacing with the sensors using I2C.  I can communicate with the Accel/Mag without issues.  However, the Gyro is showing up at (7bit) address 0x68 and it should be 0x6A (since SA0 is low).  I'm able to dump the registers and some of them are correct (WHO_AM_I), however, the data isn't correct.  I've scoped the lines and they look OK, it's just responding at the wrong address.  I've attached the scope readings and the schematic. Has anyone seen this before?  I've probed all the pins and they look correct. Thanks.

Since LSM6DSOX can calculate some statistics on the raw data, like mean and standard deviation I would like to use this capability and read and send this data to the host app on the PC. I do not need any classifier functionality for my use case and just need the features. So far I did not see any way to access this values - it seems like they are completely internal to the device and are used as decision tree/FSM input only. So, is it possible at all or I have to implement these calculations at the MCU level?Thank you!

Temperature compensation for this magnetometer is not working as I expect. When heating device from room temperature to 50-60 degrees Celsius in 3 minutes magnetometer values are changing a lot. I have 100Hz ODR, high-precision mode, temperature sensor and temperature compensation enabled, offset cancelation disabled. Anyone having an idea what else should I set up? What is the normal (delta C / minute) which sensor can work with while compensating properly? 

We do some initial validation of LIS3MDL and experienced a problem when we do a temperature cycle (20°C to 80°C in 20 minutes) in an oven with 7 sensors inside and no external magnetic field present.It seems that we get an offset in the output signal. We have tried to enable the TEMP_EN bit, but the output is more or less the same. In fact, the output does not return to "normal" when the temperature returned to room temperature.Do you have an idea how to fix this problem?NOTE: This question and answer originated from a customer support case which was handled by us. I am trying to work through the labs from the recent ST sensors workshop. The very first step in the Pro-mode lab is to enter the DFU mode and program the SensorTile.box with a precompiled image. The problem is that when I connect the tile to my computer (MS Surface, Windows 10) through USB nothing happens. There are no new COM ports or USB devices appear in the Device Manager, either in user or DFU mode. The device is working because I can connect to it from my phone and upload and run applications there as usual. I tried to enter DFU mode by either holding the BOOT button on the board while connecting the USB or by entering DFU command on the phone debug console. In both cases ST32CubeProgrammer does not see the device. The battery is disconnected.The firmware on the device is whatever was downloaded by ST since I never was able to program it. Hi everyone,Does the block data update mode block also the sensor's sampling? Or simply the sensor continues to acquire and the registers are just not updated until the next reading? It's very important to me because I use LSM9DS1 gyroscope and accelerometer in free run mode at 119 Hz and I read each sample every 10ms (100Hz), in combination with the magnetometer used in single conversion mode: if the accelerometer and gyroscope continue to sample, magnetometer and gyroscope+accelerometer are not synchronous, or their samples are not equally spaced each time.I hope I was clear,Thanks, Daniele

We made a very simple becon sensor.It would take about 25 micro amps to be a pure becon without the vibration sensor.In a vibration free environment, it takes 35 microamps to measure vibration using the lis3dh sensor.It is the ideal current consumption that we want.However, if it is attached to an air conditioner in a place with vibration, it consumes current up to 112 micro amps.Please let me know if there is a way to use 35 to 45 microamps where there is vibration.For reference, the accuracy of the magnitude of vibration is not important and only a rough measurement is required.

I am reading the LSM6DSM FIFO with the accel and gyro enabled. I burst read 12 bytes using the SPI. One output byte to say to read the fifo then 12 input bytes (6 bytes of accel and 6 bytes of gyro). That works great. I tried reading more than 12 bytes using this method and it didn't seem to work. According to the rounding description in en.DM00352102, I should be able to burst read the entire FIFO (though the docs aren't 100% explicit about this). Am I doing something wrong or does the FIFO need to be read one frame at a time?

I have been trying to setup fall detection interrupt on LIS3DH. I can get it to work but only with specific setup. In particular INT1_DURATION values: 0x05 works (but is too short) so my global setup is ok. But with any other duration values, even just 0x07, I can't see the interrupt anymore even though I am in free fall for that time (dropping from 3m). I am using the arduino IDE.I have tried also to go at 100Hz, and I can't see the interrupt either then. Looks like I am missing something. HiI have been working with the Nucleo F401RE + P-NUCLEO-53L0A1 sampling the VL53L0X, and it was working fine. However interfacing the Nucleo F401RE  to another VL53L0X module (https://picclick.de/VL53L0X-Time-of-Flight-Distance-Sensor-Breakout-GY-VL53L0XV2V-Module-for-401696110421.html) is not working.Addresses :I am using the same code, only added a 4th sensor (in P-NUCLEO-53L0A1 there are 3 sensors -address 0x54,0x56,0x58), I have set the 4th senosr address to 0x52. Hi,I'm looking for some example how to use the sensor with STM32 and wonder why all of them, which I've found, are based on the loop not on interrupts.The response is 40 bits and it takes up to several milliseconds to read it, so during the time MCU is either hanging (if interrupts are disabled) or can miss some bits (if some other interrupt is handled for >24us or, if using RTOS, some other task is started e.g.).Could you please help me and suggest a good example of using the sensor or advice if I'm wrong and it's senseless for use interrupts for it (I mean to catch failing and rising edges from the sensor and fill an array by "their times").Thanks in advance!

I am developing a device which needs to continuously monitor noise (buffer / page to memory) and either Once or 8 Times per second analyse the acquired data to provide the following:FFT CPB (single or 1/3rd octave band analysis)Various over-all and band-pass filtered metrics familiar to the Sound Level Meter user including LAeq, Leq, LFeq, SPL (Slow and Fast)The math behind these is not my problem yet, I am stuck on which interfacing method may be the most efficient, the least problematic and potentially the one which would be easiest to adapt away from should I wish to option in an Analogue Microphone > OpAmp > ADC > DMA instead of MEMS > SPI/I2S/SAI/DFSDM > DMAWould be interested in the thoughts of anyone who has been down this path...

Hi.We have a board based on nordik nrf52840 chip with lis3dh accelerator sensor connected.i took the driver code for lis3dh from STM github and wrote the context functions using nordic sdk 15.2 (I2C bus). First of all i must say that the ADDRESS in the code is no correct, my device response to 0x18 address and not 0x31. Second i'm able to read registers (like who am i register, status registers etc...) and to write to them, also i was able to get the orientation 6D sensor output. what i was unable to do is get a proper reading for x,y,z. the raw reading always returns the same.i tried changing the scale from 2_g to 4_g and still different value but remains the same between readings. of course i'm shifting and tilting, rotating the board to check it, nothing.When i compared the STM example code (read_data_simple) to Adafruit's i did see that adafruit turn register1 lower 3 bits which are "axis enable bits" did that too, still nothing.

Hi,I am using an LSM6DSOX in SPI mode. I prefer SPI over I2C because it has bigger data transfer rates. Is there any way to be sure that my SPI commands were executed with success? Are they returning something? For example, how can I be sure of the integrity of the data received from FIFO?
