Power management

I have question about Diagnostic output DIAG1 of L6375S. I measured its behavior when I have open load condition and high VIN+ (when the undervoltage is away). I was changing power supply of integrated circuit from zero to supply voltage , where the undervoltage is out , output mosfet is switch on, and there is output voltage on output (pin2). Voltage for VIN+ input ( pin 7) was realized by divider from supply voltage.I supposed from datasheet  that DIAG1 (pin 5) is low all the time. Diag 1 is low until undervoltage is present and when is not under voltage starts state high input (VIN+) and  open load, this is low too, by datasheet, but I have measured this waveform. ChA - Vsupply, ChB - Diag1 (pin 5) voltage, ChC - IN+ voltage , ChD - Output voltage I understand that supply voltage started to be higher than undervoltage and output power mosfet switch on when Vsupply is 7,5V. But I do not understand why DIAG1 goes high. VIN+ is 4,32V this should be high over every t

As in https://community.st.com/t5/power-management/vn5050aj-cs-dis-not-working/m-p/632201#M10745 we now have added seriel diodes for every chip, but it is still not disabling his Current_Sense Output altough the CS_DIS Pin is above 3V.  The CS_DIS-1 Signal is comming from an 74HC138 so there is just always on VN5050 selected. The same principial is working fine on VND5160. Any advice would be appricatied

Hi, We are using STPIN230 Motor driver in our applicationOur BLDC Motor electrical parameters are:1) Rotor inductance - 0.11 mH2) Terminal resistance - 10.7 ΩQueries we have:1) In our current design we have STSPIN230 connected to motor as follows( inductor 10uH  || ferrite bead in series) with BLDC motor windings. Do we need to connect those inductors? If yes, how the value should be selected?Is it necessary,?Do we need Ferrite beads as well?2) Diodes are connected for Back emf protectionKindy list the changes to be done for better operation of motor.Note: Our motor rotates well with this connections.

We want to develop a USB-C charger and we need to check the battery charge percentage of the device connected to the USB-C charger. The connected to de USB-C device can be a Smartphone, Tablet or PC.In our charger we are going to integrate a processor and we need to read the battery percentage of the device that is being chargedIs it possible to read the battery percentage of the device connected by USB-C? Any ST reference can do this job?

Hello,I have developed my own evaluation Board for the STWLC98 Chip. When connecting the power suplly, the DC-Mode, which is on the IC when it is delivered, works in a correct way. But when I want to program the IC with the following firmware from the ST Website: STEVAL-WLC98RX_config_2C00.memhSTEVAL-WLC98RX_nvmpatch_1454.memhI get the following errors, when the programming status bar reaches 100%: Config Id Mismatch! file/chip: 0x2C00/0x1000Wrong config id 0x1000 and patch id 0x0000 for RX Where can I find the right Firmware or do you have any solutions for me?Thank YouSimon

Hello,I use ST's STDRIVE101 in a design to drive a three-phase BLDC motor and used the reference design EVALSTDRIVE101 as a design guideline. My design has a MOSFET switching frequency of 20 kHz and a MOSFET drain-source voltage between 36 and 42 V.I have some questions about the design’s power stage (see screenshot from the design’s documentation below) and would be very grateful for an answer.  All designators mentioned are taken from the screenshot.  My questions are:Gate resistor R11: Is there a strong reason for choosing 33 Ohm? My thinking is that when using a smaller resistor, the MOSFET’s switching on process could be sped up as my design uses a MOSFET capable of turning on faster. Is this possible with STDRIVE101 and to what extent could the gate resistor be reduced?Gate driver diode D1: This is used for faster switching off the gate by bypassing R11 if I get the design correctly?Resistor R14: I assume this is a pull-down resistor to drain the gate from unw

Is it possible to program the L6470 MIN_SPEED for a low value, set the acceleration and deceleration to zero and MAX_SPEED to zero to run at the set MIN_SPEED rate?

Posted on December 30, 2017 at 11:16I have a LED2001PHR based LED driver that is designed to drive a string of LEDs at 5.2V and 3A. When I apply power and the LEDs are connected, the LEDs flash for a fraction of a second and then go off telling me that the driver came on and went off again within a very short period of time. When I remove the LEDs (essential open circuit at the load) I see that the driver works again (because I have a small LED indicator on the output). I've attached the eDesign Studio design here. Hello,I have a problem with STGAP2D and the interlock pin.If the interlock pin is on GND, SD and Brake are high, INB is high and the INA is high for 1s after this time 10ms low, than again 1s high and again 10ms low and so on.The output A is only low and the output B is 1s low and the 10ms high.But in the datasheet is written, if the interlock pin is on GND, INA and INB are high, than the outputs also are high.Can anyone tell me, what is wrong?I need this funktion.Thank you and best regardsStefan

If the IC is powered by the battery, how does missing battery detection work ? I am working on a product which will have a USB interface and a single cell Li-Ion battery with charging circuit and a gas gauge. I need to take care of scenarios where the unit is connected over USB to a PC/Laptop but the battery is not connected. How does the firmware (running on an STM32) know that the battery is missing ? 

  Hello, I've designed a PCB with a schematic nearly identical to the STEVAL-WBC86TX. The only modifications are a capacitor and coil size change, which I've also implemented on a development board for direct comparison. On the development board, my receiver PCB performs almost flawlessly, with the only issue being a charging current of around 60mA (which may be unrelated). However, on my new transmitter board, it almost immediately overheats and shuts down. I've attached an image from WPSTUDIO showing the temperature reaching 100°C before shutting down and repeating this cycle. Can anyone suggest potential causes for this issue or point me in the right direction for troubleshooting? Thank you, Mike

Dear Support/Expert I have a question about LED2001, is it practical to apply a relay to switch the LED off, but keep the DIM enabled.  as in the schematic. if K21 is off, it will cut the current off of the output, but the DIM pin of the LED2001 is still enabled. will this operation cause any damage to the chip? or any negative side effect.  Thank you and appreciate your help.David 

I have this design using SPV1040 It uses SM102K06L solar panels, that have Vmpp = 3.35V, Impp = 0.406 A (Pmpp = 1.36W). The output must charge a 4.2 Li-Ion battery. At direct sunlight with one panel, I am measuring 0.39 A, and 1.81 V (voltage measurements in parallel with panel, current measurement in series with panel). That's just 0.7 W, half of what I expected. The interesting thing is that if I connect TWO of these panels in PARALLEL, I get 0.7 A and 3.37 V. That's 2.36 W, much closer to the 1.36 * 2 = 2.72 W that I would expect. Why could the single panel configuration having so poor performance? Is the SPV1040 chip failing to track the maximum power point in this scenario? EDIT: Forgot to add that when testing the two parallel panels configuration, I lowered Rs to 75 milliohm, in order to achieve a higher output current.

Hello,I am using a STNS01 in my circuit for the power management. The problem is when I only have a charged battery (4.1 v) connected to the BAT pin, it does not switch to the battery voltage. As if the chip is in shutdown mode (I do not know why, the SD pin is internally pulled down and I do not activate it). To release the shutdown mode, I need to connect the IN pin to the USB and when I unplug the USB again, this time it switches to the battery (I think releasing from shutdown).Can anybody let me know why it does not switch to the battery initially? Even I pulled down the IN pin to be sure its voltage is zero compered to the BAT pin voltage (4.1 volt).However, it did not help.I also checked the operating condition table in the datasheet. It is kind of weird for me. Because if the voltage of the battery is in the valid range (3 ~ 4.2 v) it never switches to the battery. I think the table should be modified as below. Best,Mehrdad

I'm designing an ESC for a drone. I found STM's UM2197 design document. I have a question why this DC link capacitor design uses 2 Capacitors in parallel (P/N 35ZLH330MEFC10X12.5) of Rubycon.This capacitor has the following parameters: Ripple Current @ High Frequency: 1.33 A @ 100 kHz Ripple Current @ Low Frequency: 731.5 mA @ 120 Hz Capacitance: 330 µFI want to ask why STM chose this capacitor? As I calculated, the ripple current through the DC link capacitor is much higher than the ripple current through the selected STM capacitor.  

Hello everyone,I'm working on a circuit for monitoring the bias voltage of a GM tube, which requires a high voltage of 100V. I am currently using a OA1NP22C op-amp configured as a unity-gain buffer to read the divided voltage. To minimize current consumption, I'm considering using a voltage divider with 1GΩ and 12MΩ resistors. However, this configuration still consumes approximately 9.8µA, which is higher than I would like for my low-power application.Here is a simplified version of my circuit:100V Bias Voltage (GM Tube)|R1 (1GΩ)|+----> To OA1NP22C Op-Amp (unity gain buffer) > MCU|R2 (12MΩ)|GNDMy questions are:How can I further reduce the current consumption of this voltage divider to the nanoampere range?Would switching out the voltage divider using a transistor be a viable solution?  I am usingSPC5 IDE with STEVAL-CTM009V1 (Eval Board) and STEVAL-TTM002V1 (Control Board), but not aware how to sense voltage from set of analog input pins (43). In STCubeIDE, it automatically gets generated after pin config, but in SPC5 its not getting generated. Please suggest!

I am controlling a VN9D5D20FN high side driver with the SPI2 interface on an STM32F373.  I can communicate with the high side driver, and sometimes briefly get an output to turn on using SPI control.  However, frequently the high side driver sets the SPI Error bit in the global status byte, mask 0x20.I cannot determine why the high side driver is reporting a SPI error, and the datasheet is not clear on what causes that bit to be set (or at least I haven't been able to find it).  The datasheet is here: https://www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/vn9d5d20fn.pdfOn page 23, it states:"The SPIE is a logical OR combination of errors related to a wrong SPI communication (SCKcount and SDI stuck at errors).The SPIE bit is automatically set when SDI is stuck at High or Low.The SPIE is automatically cleared by a valid SPI communication."So, it appears SPIE gets set if SDI is stuck High or Low, or there are not enough SCK counts when receiving (24 bits per SPI transaction).  From

I am a master's student and working on BMS and I want to use EVAL-L9963E-MCU evaluation board for my research work. But I am not sure whether the firmware or driver for this evaluation board is available in the ST website. Please help me with this information, if anybody had used this board earlier, because for research purpose I need the drivers and firmware for this board. Though, I have seen, it has a GUI software available in ST website.    

 Hey,I'm planning on building an ETC to control a throttle valve using the L9960 H-bridge. I'm currently in the process of designing a PCB for it. The driver is supposed to have 12V as VsV_sVs​ and handle up to 10A max as output load. The PCB I'm designing can only be a maximum of 2 layers. Is it safe to use this kind of driver on a thin board like this? My thought process is to place a large ground plane around it and use a metal plate to dissipate heat.I've read the application note AN4867 for the L9960/L9960T automotive integrated H-bridges by STMicroelectronics, but I couldn't understand much of it. There were some variables I couldn't comprehend.Should I just change the values inside this table and calculate it?
