STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

Hi, I’m using a NUCLEO-144 (STM32H563ZIT6) development board with only the board USB STLINK-V3EC port connected. TRACE and DEBUG are enabled with Serial Wire in the configuration file, and printf is routed through ITM: int _write(int file, char *ptr, int len) { for (int i = 0; i < len; i++) { ITM_SendChar((*ptr++)); } return len; } SWV is enabled in the debug configuration, the core clock is 250 MHz, and the SWV window (port 0) shows output correctly in STM32CubeIDE.     When I switch to an external ST-LINK/V2 and connect NRST#15 / SWDIO#7 / SWCLK#9 / GND#20 / TARGET VCC#1 / VDD3.3 V#19, programming and debugging work, but the SWV window shows nothing in the STM32CubeIDE. The reason for using ST-LINK/V2 for SWV debugging is that on our product’s onboard MCU, only VDD, NRST, SWDIO, SWCLK, and GND are exposed.   Could anyone explain why SWV output does not appear with ST-LINK/V2? Thanks.    

When will the NUCLEO-C5A3ZG  be available via distributors?The st.com site lists it as available(mass production), but none of the distributors has listed it at all. And the estore lists it as coming soon. Do you have any more concrete dates, will it be available anytime soon?   Best

Hi ,Recently I got a NUCLEO-C051C8 board and tried to connect it to windows and program it using STm32CubeIDE but it does not show that st-link is connected , ST-link on board blinks RED continuously. Cant install it ( installation goes through , but cant see it in device manager ) using stsw-link009( https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-link009.html?dl=redirect ) Cant connect using STM32CubeProgrammer. Tried 2 USb cables , various ports of pc but  in vain. Can someone please help ?   

Hi    For some of my project, I need to measure the power consumption of the STM32N6570-DK while running a model on the CPU only versus an NPU + CPU accelerated workload.   I am following the guide  1. How to measure power on the STM32N6 - STMicroelectronics Community 2. STMicroelectronics/x-cube-n6-ai-power-measurement: An AI software application package implementing low-power optimizations and enabling power measurement on STM32N6 DK board.​   Based on these documents, I plan to measure the current via CN2 pins 3 and 4 while powering the board through CN6 (USB-C).   My Question:Does measuring current at this point (CN2 pins 3 & 4) isolate the consumption of the NPU and CPU (VDDCore)? Specifically, I want to know if this measurement will include the power draw from the camera module and LCD display if they are active in the same project.   Any guidance on isolating th

I am new to ST boards, previously I used Aurix TC375. Has someone here in the community used this board or similar one and know how to work around it? It would be really helpful.Thanks

I have the following original debuggers:Stlink V2Stlink V3_SETStlink V3_MINIE (2 pieces)I was recently testing a simple board with an STM32U083 (powered by 3.3V) and found that two Stlink V3 MINIE units could connect to the MCU. Meanwhile, both the V2 and V3_SET work without any issues.I observed that after connecting (SWDIO,SWCLK,VDD,GND) to the powered MCU, both the V2 and V3_SET leave SWDIO at 3.3V (pull-up in the MCU) and SWCLK at 0V (pull-down in the MCU). Whereas the MINIE maintains a 3.3V level on both SWDIO and SWCLK. Out of curiosity, I connected an external 10k pull-down resistor to both SWDIO and SWCLK and observed that SWDIO drops (which is fine), but SWCLK does not, meaning that the Stlink V3 MINIE actively holds SWCLK at 3.3V. Am I doing something wrong, or are both MINIE boards defective?Best regards,Michal Dudka

Hello, I am using an STM32F407VGT6 board with the ST-LINK debugger.When I plug the USB cable into the board, the LD1 LED on the ST-LINK stays Green and does not turn Red. From what I understand: Green LED indicates that ST-LINK is powered and idle. Red LED should appear during debugging or when an error occurs. However, in my case the LED always remains Green. My questions: Why does LD1 remain Green when I connect the board? Under what conditions does LD1 turn Red? Does a constant Green LED indicate that the MCU is stuck (for example in HardFault or reset)? I am using STM32CubeIDE for programming and debugging. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Working with a NUCLEO-L552ZE-Q  development board.   Requirement is to interface this board to another larger board where all the pinouts on unpopulated footprints for CN11 and CN12 ( the "Morpho" connectors ) can be brought out.   Therefore, the posts that stick out the bottom of the board must all match up in height.  The Nucleo PCB design files have listed the populated connectors CN7,CN8,CN9,CN10 on this board as CON_SAMTEC_SSW-110-23-X-D_N144_ARD      ( pin counts varying of course )With an accurate digital caliper, I measured the posts that stick out of the bottom of this board measure 9.1mm long, taking the thickness of the PCB into consideration.I bought this part ( SSW-110-23-G-D )  from Samtec and saw the post length and post geometry is NOT the same as what is on the board already populated.  I measured the posts on this part number.   The posts on this specified part number are 10mm long, and also much wi

hi guys ,  I have been working on a stm32 project like a digital automotive cluster using STM32H7A3ViT6 MCU . I am using the LTDC module to drive the display . now the problem is the mcu dosent run the code on powerup but it ll do when i press the reset button . i have been debugging it for a long time but couldnt find why this happening to this .  now since it is automotive the input voltage is at 12v so itll be converted to 5V 5A using a buck converter and then to 3.3 using a LDO , thats how i power my MCU . now the reset circuit          and today i removed the capacitor from the circuit and in some boards the issue is solved . and in some boards i removed the whole reset circuit but still no hope in that .  mcu has 100nf decoupling capacitors on vcc pins and 2.2uf  capacitors in vcap pins . now when i check the vcore voltage i gets 1.08v but after the reset button is pressed i get 1.8 as expected . . i also tried to power the mcu only w

Hello,I would like to build up an USB-CDC communication which gets the commands from the PC and forwards the messages to CAN. I have choosen a Nucleo-G431RB-C04 board, which have a FDCAN and a USB-FullSpeed inteface also. Do I able to create an USB-CDC for the mentioned board? I have read several different information of the USB interfaces on the Nucleo boards, and I would like to be sure before I will buy the mentioned card.If not, please recommend for me concrete Nucleo board type for this task.Thanks.

Hi everyone,My company recently purchased a new ST-Link/v2 programmer. The problem is that after the firmware update, the device stopped working, and when I press the Connect button on the STM32CubeProgrammer, the following error appears:Error: ST-LINK error (DEV_USB_COMM_ERR)I tried using an ST-Link/V2 programmer I bought a few months ago, and everything works fine (I only replaced the programmer, same USB cable, same programming cable).The programmer is original, I'm sure of it. I purchased the programmer from DigiKey.Even the serial number I see appears to be genuine. When I try to update the firmware, I get the following result:Can anyone help me solve my problem?Thanks  

Hi,I powered the NUCLEO-F410RB board externally by changing the JP5 jumper to select the E5V power supply and applied 5 V to the E5V pin. Initially, I did not have an external ST-LINK, so I switched JP5 to U5V and programmed the Nucleo board through USB.During this back-and-forth process, I powered both internally and externally at a time. After this, the board started consuming more current, and U1 in the NUCLEO-F410RB schematic overheated. Eventually, the VOUT and GND pins were found to be shorted.   After troubleshooting, I found that the short was inside the on-board debugger IC (ST-LINK), between VDD and VSS, so I removed the debugger IC.Later, I purchased an external ST-LINK and tried to program the Nucleo board again. I powered the board externally with 5 V on E5V. The main MCU is getting 3.3 V, but there is almost no current consumption, whereas earlier it used to draw around 200–700 mA.For debugging, I removed the CN2 jumpers and made the following connections:C

Is there any alternative of "B-CAMS-OMV" to use with "STM32F746G-DISCOVERY" as in my region it is not available and the cost will be huge if I want to ship it to Bangladesh. So, is there any alternative modules that I can search for?

Dear ST team , My STM32H753ZIT6 MCU is designed for working at 3.3V, Is this voltage compatible with the ST Link programmer? I want to know whether I need to put any level translator in between for SWDIO, SWCLK, SWO, VCP_RX, VCP_TX, NRST signals and the programming connector if 3.3V is not compatible.RegardsShyam

 Can somebody tell me whether I am, or not, powering this STM32H725RG in the right way?As far as I know, after reading several times the specs, the 68 pin package doesn't have LDO (SMPS only).I've built my first board this way and the MCU got burnt. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I am new to STM32 and recently purchased the STM32 NUCLEO‑F446RE development board to start learning microcontrollers. While studying the clock configuration, I saw the option to use HSE (High Speed External oscillator). Since I am a beginner, I searched about it and found suggestions saying that I may need to add an external crystal and capacitors and solder them onto the Nucleo board. However, I am not sure whether this is actually required for this board. I also read that the Nucleo board might provide an 8 MHz clock from the onboard ST-LINK via MCO, which can be used as the HSE source. So I would like to clarify: Do I need to add an external crystal oscillator to use HSE on this board? If yes, what crystal frequency and capacitor values are recommended? Can anyone suggest reliable components or purchase links for the required oscillator? I would appreciate any guidance. Thank you!

Hi! I'm using a STM32N657 Nucleo Board, and, considering the 1.8 V reference voltage for the ADC, the value returned by the ADC is half of what it should be. For example, for a 1,410 V value in the pin, the reading is 1742. This is to NUCLEO-H723ZG/NUH723ZG$AT2 eval board. When set VDD=3.3V by JP5, the ethernet (lwip + no os) DHCP is working fine and stable. When switch to VDD=1.8V by JP5, the STM32 is working fine but the ethernet DHCP is working randomly, most of time failed. Checking the board schematic of ethernet section, it looks fine for LAN8724 VDDIO=VDD=1.8V and 3.3V to transformer section.  Using this eval board for 1.8V environment project, enthusiastic hope to make it works stable.  Any helps are welcome. Hello,   I have a board STM32F746G-DISCO from Farnell and I noticed that stm32cubeprogrammer is not showing the correct target board information. I have tried different version of stm32cubeprogrammer using different PC (2.15.0 due to usage of Windows 7) and 2.22.0 on my laptop and both are showing the target board as the discontinued STM32F7508-DK. The board system information appears to be showing correct information on its screen when it is being powered up but not in stm32cubeprogrammer and it also appears that the PC is detecting the device with removable storage for STM32F746G-DISCO DIS_F750N8, hinting of the discontinued board name which is very similar to STM32F746G-DISCO . I tried to reload the demo example to the board and it seems fine. The board appears to be a CU4 version board [not exactly sure there is any relation to that]. Is there anyway for the stm32cubeprogrammer to display the correct board information? Thank you for your attention to this matter.   Best r

Hi,I wanted to use an external voltage reference of +2.048V on the Nucleo Board. To do so I removed SB57 as dictated in UM1724 document: SB57 (VDDA/VREF+)ON VDDA/VREF+ on STM32 is connected to VDD.OFF VDDA/VREF+ on STM32 is not connected to VDD and can be provided frompin 8 of CN5 (Used for external VREF+ provided by ARDUINO® shield) The Absolute Maximum Ratings for STM32F072xB (table 21) give the following:VDD–VDDA Allowed voltage difference for VDD > VDDA - 0.4 V Does this mean I am bound to a 3.3V reference and can not use lower voltages? On Arduino boards these normally accept other voltages.
