Hello,

I'm trying to set up a STA311B to send an I2S signal to a DAC. Do you have any sample schematics? My main question is which chip should provide the MCLK signal to the DAC.

Also, is it documented what would be the minimum delay introduced if I connect my source to an input in the STA311B and then route it through it to the DAC?

As always, thanks for your help.

hi Jorge ,

there are two options :

1)  provided MCLK from your front end device (DSP or MCU) to STA311B and DAC .

2)  used CLKOUT from STA311B to DAC as MCLK .

due to STA311B internal system clock is 98.304Mhz with 48Khz FS input , the 2 system clock cycles delay was around 20nSec  . And if you used BICK as STA311B clock source , the automatically FS detection need to spend 3~6FS to detect input FS range .

Thanks to consider STM device.

Thanks YT! That is very helpful. Much appreciated!

I'll come back with more questions later :)
