VNPxxN07 Threshold Voltage and Protection Characteristics Threshold

Can someone please explain to me what the meaning of the threshold voltage on the VNPxxN07 transistors and if it is different from the threshold voltage mentioned, what input (gate or drain) voltage is necessary for the protection circuits to be active ?
