Email validation redirect to st.com.cn domain

I registered and created ST account. I received the email containing the validation link. When I clicked, it took me to st.com.cn - and the website (naturally) is in Chinese.

I am in the U.S. - and I suspected it's due to localization setting in st.com server - it redirected me to Chinese website. Why is that? Is it normal? Is there a security concern? Did my browser get hijacked, or st.com back-end server got hijacked?
