Valid login details ignored

This has happened before, but I can't seem to find the thread.

At the forum login, I enter correct details.

The forum thinks for a while, then just re-presents the blank login form - no messages about invalid details.

Happened just now, and once last week.

Hi @Andrew Neil,

We were not able to see any login error on your account. If it happens again, please let me know and share some screenshots with the behavior.

Thanks,
Lina

Back to this one this morning:

'Refresh' was successful

I had last week. It took half a dozen login attempts and then it suddenly worked.

So this morning's experience:

  1. A long delay before the login form appeared
  2. I got my password wrong on the first attempt (allegedly).
  3. On second attempt, password accepted, but then back to the blank login form
  4. On third attempt, another long delay, then finally logged-in.

This morning's experience:

  1. A noticeable delay before the login form appeared
  2. Password accepted on 1st attempt, but then the 'Page not found' error
  3. finally logged-in on the second  'Reload' attempt.

That happens to me occasionally, but not really rarely to be honest.
I use to blame it to ST-internal or general internet traffic issues, so I don't usually mention it.

I refresh the forum page once or twice after the alleged timeout, and "suddenly" I'm logged in.

It seems to come in "waves".

I've been suffering a "wave" over the last week or so.

@Lina_DABASINSKAITE - everything went smoothly this morning!

Has been OK for a while, but got the "valid login details ignored" again just now:

  1. At the forum login, I enter correct details.
  2. The forum thinks for a while, then just re-presents the blank login form - no messages about invalid details.
  3. logged-in OK on the 2nd attempt

Thanks a lot @Andrew Neil. I have informed a respective team to look into this. Will let you know when I have news. But I am happy that it worked in the 2nd attempt!

Yes, it seems to have settled down a lot now ...

Hugely long delays for the login screen to load this morning - I gave up twice.

Once it did eventually load, all went fine.

Not as bad for me, but I had problems this morning as well.
After entering the login data, the browser displayed some error message about "invalid site".

After just hitting refresh (F5), I was logged in, and everything was fine.
Looks like a ST server issue to me ...

I always have to login twice and have to login every single day (even though I don't logout). I've just gotten used to it. I'm using Firefox (current) in Win10 Pro. In my case it is likely due to the NoScript blocker that I use. For instance, when accessing the Community, I only allow st.com, not cookielaw.org, not decibelinsight.net, not googletagmanager.com and not medallia.eu.

I agree with sentiment that forcing periodic password changes is counterproductive.

I think that's intended behaviour - login sessions expire after "a while" of inactivity.

Yes, pretty sure this is the case.

I use to remain logged in over the day. But after about one or two hours of inactivity, I'm automatically logged out.
