Drivers for VD55G0 sensor for STM32N6

Dear all,

I'm looking for the driver for the VD55G0 camera sensor compatible with the STM32N657 MCU. According to the camera sensor's driver product page (STSW-IMG505) a driver should be available for the N6 (the N6 is mentioned several times as being supported) but I can only find drivers for Raspberry Pi and V4L2. Could you please let me know where I can obtain the driver?

Thank you very much for your support!

Michael

Dear @asdfasdf ,

Thank you again for flagging this website issue to us. We’ve now updated the page to remove the confusion, and we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

As a small thank you for your feedback and to support your STM32N6 project, we would like to offer you a VD55G1 camera board. The VD55G1 is also a monochrome sensor, with higher resolution (800x700), lower power consumption, and advanced features compared to the VD55G0 (including auto‑wake up and background removal).

It is fully supported by the STM32N6 Camera Middleware (CMW). You can find more details about the camera middleware here.  The camera middleware library simplifies the development process for applications that require camera functionality by abstracting hardware-specific details.

Please let me know if this works for you. If so, I will contact you via private message to arrange the shipping details.

Kind regards,
Marie‑Charlotte.

Hi @asdfasdf ,

Right now, only VD55G1 and VD66GY have a driver for STM32N6 MCU.

My apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Jean

Thanks for the clarification, Jean! I would strongly suggest to update the website then, as that very clearly states that the driver is available.

Best, Michael

@Marie-Charlotte Thanks, that's a nice gesture but we need the VD55G0 for our product. It's fine though, because we do already have a working driver for the STM32N6, it's just a very messy and bad quality vibe-coded one, so I was hoping for an official driver from ST. Looking forward to seeing that happen one day, and thanks again to you for clarifying the website and thus avoid confusion for others!

Best, Michael
