STEVAL-IDB008V1M (BlueNRG-2 SoC) does not establish VCP port on PC, only STM DFU

Since the poorly soldered microUSB connector on the eval board broke off, I fixed and wired USB-A connector. If the board is then connected to PC, STM DFU device appears in Device Manager and appropriate driver could be installed so I suppose that the wiring is O.K. However, originally a USB Serial Port (COMx) appeared so either the RF-Flasher Utility or a terminal program can work with the board.

What could be the cause of this?

What is the cause that the STM32L151 MCU (USB to UART converter) goes into the programming mode of itself (STM Device in DFU Mode)? Specific level on a pin? MCU had to be programmed before the eval board is launched but it can be done by MCU JTAG connector.
