STUSB1602 - BMC interface required to advertise power sourcing ability? BMC clock frequency?

I am evaluating the STUSB1602 in combination with a STMF103 in a dual-role port, UFB (usb-device) application. In source mode, the device should provide type-c current 5V 3A or 5V 1,5A. Do I have to connect the BMC interface to advertise power sourcing ability?

Unfortunately, the datasheet is not clear to me about the BMC interface. In addition to my main question, if I do need the BMC interface at all for my application, I can not find any information about the SPI CLOCK frequency the STUSB outputs?
