Using NDK in android studio to incorporate C/C++ into app design, in order to implement the bluNRG-2 functionality?

So I am an engineering student and I am trying to develop a android application for a device that uses the bluNRG-2 to send sensor data to the receiver (android device). My thoughts are to incorporate the bluetooth functionality in android studio by using C/C++. Does this make sense? Or should this be done another way?
