I have spent some time on the forums and can see that there are many options for projects depending on the requirements of the user. I am looking to hear people's opinions on a suitable setup as an introduction to the field. I am a firm believer in walking before you can run. My project is simple to record some vibration from a sensor and display it as an integer value.No need for connectivity to std IoT protocols as yet.I suppose one thing to consider is the availability of some products; eg, the STEVAL-STWINKT1B is out of stock now from many vendors available to me until after Xmas..Another factor I am considering is, there are some setups that have great tutorials and examples I have seen one for the below mcu.I was thinking of the STEVAL-MKI109V3 motherboard and STEVAL-MKI208V1K iNemo Inertial Module Kit?Would be good to hear some opinions, the application is for motor, gearbox and pump condition

How to configure ISM330DLC registers to use the INT1 for Free-fall and tilt event?

Hello,I'm working on a ultra low power application using the LSM6DSO32X. The goal is to have a device that reacts (with a short radio message) when its orientation relative to gravity changes. For this I wish to use as much as possible the FSM and the MLC to wake up the MCU only when it is really required.I'm working with the STEVAL-MKI109V3 in conjunction with UNICO to produce the FSM/MLC configurations, once the basic configuration works, it will be ported to the final architecture.This was to give an overview. Now the device works as expected with a fixed threshold, however, in the final product, the threshold is supposed to be dynamically adjusted at runtime in the range [-1g; 1g]. Is it possible to do it just by writing the new value into the advanced features dedicated page? Is there any specific procedure to follow?Thanks,Davide.

I am using this chip to get the X & Y angle of the unit. First read outOUTX_L_XL (28h) & 29hOUTY_L_XL (2Ah) & 2BhOUTZ_L_XL (2Ch) &2Dhand calculate Roll and Pitch.  The angles works good in normal / slow moving or stable condition. Also need to detect if device is not up side down ( where Z value is negative ).However, if the device drop fast from high to low, Z value will suddenly become negative for that short acceleration period and so the situation consider to be an up side down. Did anyone try that? Is that normal? how can we solve it?Thanks!Martin

When I compile the code in the IDE and run it (with the acquisition json file set to activate for 5s, then idle for 10s, and repeat) It activates correctly the first time. However, when coming out of idle the second time, it produces an SD card error (see below). Any ideas why I wouldn't be getting this with the precompiled binary, but do get it with the cube project files?

I have been working with this sensor for a while. It started to give weird errors such as reading all zeros on all axis. Then sometimes it would initialize but read values like 4, 0, 4 and such. Which is impossible in a static position. I have tried writing to the BOOT and SW reset register but still it gives the same behavior. It is not shared on an SPI bus Any help will be appreciated

Dear STM-Team,our first custom boards with VL53L3CX just arrived and I’ve ported the API to Zephyr (already did that for VL51).I can see that the comms work, because I can read the chip id and start the mandatory calibrations as well as the measurement itself.But I can‘t get a successful target detection.The first measurement seems okay (it has the status which according to the d/s says that it is the first measurement and can be discarded) but after that, all measurements have 0 detected targets and status 255any advise?thanks,Chris

I need to use a gyroscope with my Nucleo-64 board, but the gyroscope needs to stand apart (i.e. at the end of a cable). Is the STEVAL-MKI197V1 a good match? Can I connect it directly to my Nucleao-64 with a SPI cable, *without* using an expansion board? (such as X-NUCLEO-IKS01A1, X-NUCLEO-IKS01A2, X-NUCLEO-IKS01A3, X-NUCLEO-IKS02A1).

We get three 16-bit value from the register of ISM330DLC, how to use the three values to calculate the acceleration? Please help.

Hi,Using UNICO (v9.10.0.0), the process to generate a UCF file with multiple Decision Trees seems to be:1. Load all the test data for ALL Decision Trees, labelling each data set as you would for an individual Tree (presumably the labels need to be unique across all trees)2. Use the MLC Configuration Tool3. When it gets to the part about multiple decision trees, enter the number required.4. Select all the Features required across all the Trees5. For each tree, select the labels entered in step 1 that are to be grouped into that tree6. At the generate step it will generate a Decision Tree file for each Tree, and then only one UCF file.Is that correct?What are the implications/constraints/issues when generating a UCF with multiple Decision Trees if one or all of them are generated external to UNICO, or if a UNICO DTree has been modified (eg a Node value/threshold changed)?Do all the Features specif

There appears to be a hardware bug on the LSM6DSM where if a sample is acquired while reading from the FIFO, then the pattern # becomes incorrect. I can consistently replicate this issue by reading at random intervals. Additionally, data on the FIFO may be corrupted.I'm taking my measurements while the custom PCB is sitting still, so consecutive samples should not vary significantly. I have attached a hardware I2C logger to confirm the data on the I2C bus, see attached spreadsheet with annotations. I have also attached my .c file showing the configuration settings that are used. FIFO continuous mode at 26hz, stop on threshold full, block data update = 1, interface increment = 1.Is there a workaround for this issue? Different settings that I need to use?

Hi,I have created a small function that reads out the 8-bit temperature register in the lis2dw12 sensor. The code is shown belowstatus lis2dw12::temperature(int8_t *temp) { *temp = static_cast<int8_t>(read_reg(REG_OUT_T)) + 25; printf("%d\r\n", *temp); return status::OK; }I run the function every 100ms (so 10Hz sampling). The measurements seems to be within the right range (25-26 deg C), but about every 5 to 10 sample I see some spikes where one measurement is maybe 28, 29 or even 30 deg C, which is wrong.Below I have made a small 10 sec test where the temperature readings are plotted. If I average the datapoints the temperature is about 25.5 deg C which is what I expect.My question is: "Is it normal to have such big fluctuations in the measured temperature valus when the sensor is placed right next to me on the desktop table... is this really within spec of the sensor?"

My LIS3DH is embedded on a PCB with gravity on Zh (upside down).It is configured with:ODR 10Hz, Z axis enabledNo filterFS @2HzIA1 on INT1Interrupt active HIGHAOI and 6D pos (for position detection)INT1 threshold set to 0x39 (around 0.916g)This configuration is meant to have interrupt HIGH on nominal position, and LOW with the sensor is not vertical (angle of around 30°).But using this kind of configuration (inverted INT usage) does not allow me to use the INT1_DURATION register.I did try to use other axis to be in INT "normal" behaviour (active LOW when not in nominal vertical position), but I did not manage to find the proper configuration.Has anyone already encounter this kind of situation?Can anyone provide me with help?Regards,Sebastian

Hi! I’m using the ‎LSM6DSLTR‎, and really just need to trigger an interrupt whenever the device rotates at a speed greater or equal to a given threshold. Do I need to set up any FIFO data, or is there a way to only generate an interrupt based on a rotation threshold? I’ve set the gyro to a full scale selection of +/- 500 dps assuming this would be the threshold setting? (CTRL2_G register)Curious if anyone else has used this chip to detect a threshold event in a rotation axis?

I am trying to build custom boards using LSM9DS1, I shot through the data sheet, but the information on these two pins is not clear enough? What is the purpose of these pins(DRDY_M & DEN_A/G)?

I need to confirm what the ODR represents - the default ODR is 26667Hz. But what is the actual internal sample rate pre anti-aliasing filter (which must be implemented internally)?Assuming the actual Fsample is at least 26667, then ODR simply represents the output data rate with respect to additional bandwidth filtering - correct?To calculate the data parameters for implementation of an FFT, which figure do I use - 26667 or ODR? For example:Is Delta-F (spectral resolution) = 26667 / N pts always, regardless of ODR?Similarly, is sample period (Ts) = 1/26667 always, regardless of ODR?

Hello fellow ST guys. I'm working with the LSM6DSO IMUs in my project. Nice chip indeed. Now I need to connect multiple IMUs and I need to synchronize them, so that I can read the data from all of those chips sequentially (asserting chip select pins one at a time while reading out the data contents) after triggering an INT from just one IMU. Is there any way or should I read all of my INT pins individually and store a timestamp value for each device data output?

Hi I have four questions please: 1- is there a new version of the UM2499 pdf manual, as most of the links are broken ? 2- I get this error with IBM watson IoT quickstart - (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 2), i get this in different Iphones. As i though its DNS issue. 3- MQTT is not working I am trying to link to ThingSpeak, i get the connection but no data to thingspeak brocker.4- i can't get the windows and mac to see the sensor box in Unicleo-GUI, i can see everything in device manager and no yellow error but Unicleo-GUI doesn't seem to see it Thank you H

I have an embedded platform AT91SAM9260 based running on a buildroot based Linux with kernel 4.19.78-linux4sam-6.2 which includes an LSM6DSO and a LIS2MDLTR as well.When st_* drivers are loaded all communications via i2c is returning EBUSY and even gpioget does not work. Unloading the driver makes everything work fine.libiio does not have the necessary hooks in your drivers to function properly (according to libiio developers) So why is i2c comms always returning EBUSY?This is VERY incovenient. Why isn't even gpioget on our processor not working on the GPIO pin connected to INT1 on the LSM6DSO when working fine on all other GPIO pins.your support of iio is marginal at best, no access to individual registers ... only way to access registers is by mounting /sys/kernel/debug and access from thereSo should i delete your drivers from the kernel configuration and go i2c all the way seeing tha

Hello, I'm working with STEVAL-STWINKT1B kit and the latest version of FP-SNS-DATALOG1 sw package.I'm trying to set the ISM330DHCX 's ODR to 208 samples/s but in this case the acquisitions are corrupted.Is there any known bug?The ODR is set by modifying the DeviceConfig.json file.Only the ISM330DHCX acquisition is corrupted.By debugging the code seems that the problem could be about the calculation of parameter "sdwritebuffersize" in function "SDM_CalculateSdWriteBufferSize". In this case function returns sdwritebuffersize = 512

I am wondering wether this device offers a self-test feature similar to its low-g cousin, the LIS331. I noticed that there is an app note attached on the product page of the H3LIS331DL that specifically describes the self-test feature in ST’s MEMS sensors, but nothing in its datasheet refers to a self-test feature.Thanks in advance!

On the STEVAL-STWINKT1B board, and using the HSDatalog firmware, it uses about 60mA in idle state. I have disconnected the sensors, and the uC, and turned off the SD card power lines, but it's still at around 2mA. Does anyone know where this power is going? Ideally, I want to create an application for the board when it wakes up for 1 minute in every hour, logs the data to the SD card, and then goes into a nearly dormant low power state to preserve the battery.
