Driver Availability for Qualcomm Hexagon ADSP on Android 14 (Quectel SC200U Platform)

Hello ST Community,

 

I am currently in the hardware selection phase of a product development project and am evaluating STMicroelectronics accelerometers for our production design. I am hoping the community and ST engineers can help clarify driver availability and support options for our target platform.

Platform Overview

Our production platform is based on the Quectel SC200U module running Android 14. The key processor specifications of this platform are as follows:

 
  • Application Processor: Octa-core 64-bit ARM Kryo™ 260 CPU
  • DSP: Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, Dual-HVX @ 512 MHz
  • GPU: Adreno™ 610 @ 950 MHz
  • Operating System: Android 14
A critical hardware design constraint of this platform is that the dedicated SENSOR_I2C interface exclusively supports sensors operating under the ADSP (Audio Digital Signal Processor) architecture. Specifically, the hardware design document explicitly states:
"SENSOR_I2C only supports sensors in the ADSP architecture"

Accelerometer Candidates Under Evaluation

We are currently evaluating the following STMicroelectronics accelerometers:

  • LIS2HH12TR
  • LIS2DU12TR
  • LIS2DUX12TR


    Questions:

  • 1. Hexagon ADSP Driver Availability
    Does STMicroelectronics currently provide Qualcomm Hexagon ADSP-compatible drivers for any of the following devices:LIS2HH12TR, LIS2DU12TR and LIS2DUX12TR. That are validated and compatible with Android 14 and the Qualcomm Hexagon ADSP framework?

  • 2. Driver Access and Licensing If Hexagon ADSP-compatible drivers are available, are they available through an ST partner portal or Publicly  accessible (e.g., via ST GitHub or official support channels)

  • 3. Porting Guidance (If No ADSP Drivers Exist)

  • If no Hexagon ADSP-compatible drivers currently exist for these devices, what is the recommended approach for porting existing Linux kernel drivers to the Qualcomm Hexagon ADSP environment on Android 14? Specifically, we would appreciate guidance on:

    • Whether STMicroelectronics has an existing Hexagon ADSP reference driver framework for similar MEMS devices that could serve as a porting baseline
    • Availability of application notes, porting guides, or technical documentation to assist in the driver porting process
    • Availability of FAE (Field Application Engineer) support for driver porting assistance
  • 4. Recommended Device for ADSP Support: Among the three candidate devices (LIS2HH12TR, LIS2DU12TR, LIS2DUX12TR), is there a recommended device that has the most mature or readily available Hexagon ADSP driver support, which could minimize our development effort and time to market?
