Question

Current Consumption and V_BAT in KG200ZABMD which has an STM chip

I am currently working with the KG200ZABMD module and have a few technical queries regarding its power consumption and V_BAT pin functionality.

1.Current Consumption Details

I would like to understand the module’s current consumption (loading current)under different operating conditions:

1.General power consumption in idle and sleep modes.
2.LoRa transmission power consumption different dBm (decibels-milliwatts) and spread factors (SF).
3.LoRa receive mode current consumption.

If possible, please provide a detailed power consumption table or guidelines for optimizing power usage.

2.V_BAT Pin Functionality

1.What is the purpose of the V_BAT pin in this module?
2.Does it serve as a backup supply for the RTC (Real-Time Clock)?
3.What is the recommended current requirements for this pin?

That's a Quectel product - you need to contact them for support with their product!

The answers to your questions will depend very much on Quectel's internal design - so nothing to do with ST.

Are they not stated in Quectel's product specifications?

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

The respective issue was addressed in Quectel forum as well.

Thanks for your support.

It has a STM32WLE5JCI6 chip.

The datasheet for that chip will have the power details. However, since it's integrated into a module, the power draw will almost certainly be more than what is specified at the chip level.

Datasheet - STM32WLE5xx STM32WLE4xx - Multiprotocol LPWAN 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M4 MCUs, LoRa®, (G)FSK, (G)MSK, BPSK, up to 256KB flash, 64KB SRAM

Yes, VBAT keeps RTC active. Current consumption of VBAT is in the datasheet.
