Download issues — need community input

Quick question — has anyone run into issues downloading firmware/tools where the file either fails to install, gets flagged, or seems incompatible with your board or IDE? Sometimes links open fine, but the package won’t run, or the device doesn’t detect it afterward. It makes you wonder if it's the source, the file format, or the dev setup itself.
I saw a discussion mentioning capcapk.com in another thread about APK/tool downloads, and it got me thinking — how do you verify if a download is actually safe and usable before installing, especially when working with microcontroller toolchains? Any tips to avoid corrupted files or false security flags while keeping the environment stable?
