Fault pin on STMPS2161

I was looking at a schematic that uses the STMPS2161 and the FAULT pin is pulled up to VIN (open drain), however it is not being read. Is it necessary to pull-up this pin if it will not be used or can it be left floating?

The FAULT pin of the STMPS2161 is only used to signal an error. If you do not query it anyway and thus do without this signalling, you can simply leave it open and unconnected.
