L7812ABV is tab functions as heatsink and can it be connected to GND for power dissipation

Hello,

 

The datasheet doesn't seem to mention the function the tab on the back of the IC. Can I connect it to GND to thermally conduct the heat out?

Please delete the thread, I searched by word "tab" and nothing showed up, but it does show tab as GND.
