SPV1050 MPPT Resistor Setting

If you look at the SPV1050 constraints item in 6.4 MPPT Setting in the SPV1050 Datasheet, it is clearly stated that Vmpp(max) should not be applied over 2.1V.

However, looking at an4397 (Application Note), even if Vin (Range: 2.6V ~ 9V) is more than 5V, more than 2.1V is applied to the Vmpp Pin.

Does it matter if more than 2.1V is applied to the Vmpp Pin?
