Question

STUSB4500 Power during programming

Hello :p

I am designing a circuit that should negotiate the highest level of PD, and noticed that STUSB should be programmed and configured first using I2C. My question is whether the chip needs to be powered through VDD when programming, because the sink does not have a battery, I tie VDD to ground to use low battery mode, but what about programming?

I have a partial schematic attached. Due to IP protection, I can't attach the entire file.

Thanks, Emelia

The STUSB4500 will be pre-programmed with some default settings, so will power up when connected to a USB-C power source. Then you can customise the settings via I2C.
