VREG on L9963E chip

Hi, I see on the datasheet that the external NMOS on the voltage regulator is connected to the positive terminal of the battery stack. Since the VREG voltage is 6.5V, can I connect the external mosfet to a lower tap of the battery stack? I want to do this to reduce the thermal stress of the external mosfet. Thank you.

Hi, I think it's possible and it's actually . Just you need keep in mind the voltage on the low charge and about voltage dropdown on the mosfet.
