How to put ST25R3916 in high power transfer mode without communication with NFC tag. for wireless charging?Is amplitude measurement method good for checking the FOD?Does Having tunable capacitor in hardware design and not using those function can create antenna detuning issues?How to make sure that the antenna is best matched with enclosure and targeted NFC tag?

Hello,I need to make ST25R3916 read as power efficient as possible. I am searching for documentation, but only this voltage regulator I see (0x2C). Is there any option to change field power of NFC to make a read as power efficient as possible? NFC tag will be always on fixed position in fixed range.Important: we are not talking about detecting card - as capacitance detection is good enough but only on reading the card

We are working on a couple ST25R3916B designs and would like to get some of the latest and greatest reference design, the x-nucleo-nfc08a1. Where can we buy these? I've been watching the distributors for a couple months and haven't seen any which is odd because the chip has been available a few times.Thanks,Derek

I am using ST25NFC_Embedded_Lib_ST25R3916_1.4.0 on STM32L5 discovery board with X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1And I have no problem to detect and read ST Tag (always correct), but if I use NXP tag I have super strange behavior.On bare-metal application, it works on ST+NXP tag.But on our application that use DMA SPI, and it's 4x slower on CPU I can read st tag but NXP no. He didn't say that he detected anything. From code debug I founded that resolving of NFC conflict always return BUSY and it all. I removed DMA on SPI and still (as the DMA for that short operation give some overhead), but there is a problem. Code is mostly the same, lib is just copied. For me, it looks that this library have a problem on working on more restricted environment. Could you say how to make it working?PS> Before removing DMA I had a problem that protected areas in that lib prevented for getting to interrupt.

Hello, In the x-nucleo-nfc08a1 reference design, there is the standard 3 variable cap setup (2 series, 1 parallel) plus also a second set of parallel vari-caps (C307 and the oddly named 4C30). But these are not populated on the board. Should we populate these in custom designs? In my design the antenna is a PCB trace coil about 0.75" in diameter but the trace length is about 10 inches and goes through a relay.Thanks,Derek

I'm using an ST MCU (STM32F765VGT6) on a custom board, wired to an X-NUCLEO-NFC06A1 communicating via I2C. I've integrated the RFAL library into an existing codebase. I've taken elements of the Disco demo code into our codebase, to exercise the RFAL. (It is based on the PollingTagDetect example, demo_polling.c, from STM32CubeExpansion_NFC6_V1.1.0)I am able to detect a tag, but the UID is returning as blank. I'm not seeing any I2C traffic on the Saleae analyzer that looks like the ID, so I don't think it is being retrieved from the reader. The code isn't breaking anywhere that seems to write to nfcId1, but it's a little hard to track down which variable it's actually stored in. Can you point me to where in the RFAL library you'd expect the nfcId1 variable to be stored for a NFCA type 2 tag? For I2C are there any gotchas similar to the SPI gotachas (where you need to have a separate GPIO controlling CS)? Any other suggestions for tracking this down? Thanks,Katie

In one reference design I see that you use the LXRW0YV201-059 but in a different reference design the LXRW0YV600-054 is used. Which is correct?

Hello, I found the altium files including layout for X-Nucleo-NFC08A1? I saw the Altium files for the X-Nucleo-NFC06 but nothing for the newer board. On the web there are the gerber files posted but they're for the X-Nucleo-Out08A1, not the same board. Having the raw Altium files will make it much easier to determine exact location of components.Thanks

The description of the ST25R3916 states "Special stream and transparent modes of the AFE and framing system can be used to implement other custom protocols in reader or card emulation mode." - this makes it sound like it should be possible to implement custom protocols using the stream mode for card emulation.Unfortunately looking at the datasheet the mode definition register operating modes table only lists stream mode options when the chip is configured as an initiator, there are no stream modes listed when in passive target mode.Is there a way to leverage stream mode when in card emulation mode, or is transparent mode the only option here (which would seem odd as other posts on the community from ST made it sound like stream mode is preferred over transparent and that transparent mode really only exits for internal testing)?

Hello,We are able to detect and read NFC tags with ST25R3920, but we have a little problem. When we are trying to read an NFC tag that is in a phone case (credit card, ID card etc.) we can't get a reading at all. Our first guess was that mobile phone is creating a field that interferes with NFC. Could there be something wrong or different in our software to get a reading like this? Should I be doing different configurations on registers like Antenna calibration, External Field Detector Threshold? What are your suggestions for this case?Thanks in advance!Best regards,Furkan

All,BackgroundChip: ST25R3914Library: RFAL for ST253911BI am currently working on a project that uses the ST25R3914 nfc chip and would like to implement the Automatic Antenna Tuning (AAT) feature. After looking at the data sheet, it states that chip can perform antenna tuning automatically by sending it the direct command Calibrate Antenna. Great. I then looked through the RFAL library to see if there was an API function I could call that would execute this command, and I found rfalCalibrate. This makes it easier to implement because I can now call the function mentioned above and the antenna will be tuned, but I had a few questions:When should I call this function? Should it be done after every tag that is detected?How often should it be called? Is there a configuration variable/register that needs to be set to get this feature to work?Your expertise is greatly appreciated here. Thank you in advance!Adan

According to the ST25DVi2c datasheet, a high bitrate encoding has four subcarrier pulses (followed or preceded by 9.44us of unmodulated time) to designate a 0 or 1. A low bitrate uses 16 pulses and 37.76us of unmodulated time.By changing bits 3 and 4 of the Stream mode definition register, I've been able to configure the st25r3916 for either bit rate. The datasheet, however, offers "# of pulse" values of 1, 2, 4, or 8. I believe that it should read 1, 2, 4, or 16. Am I correct?Best,Oliver

Hello, We are trying to make an NFC reader for door access control. Reading NFC tags and Android phones are as expected. But for Apple product we have to support Apple VAS. The chip type I am using is st25r3915. After I port RFAL, when I use "ST25R_SELFTEST" in "ST25NFC_EMBEDDED_LIB_ST25R3911B_1.4_0", the result of "Check IRQ Handling" is "ERR_TIMEOUT", what is the possible reason?

I want to power the ST25DV tag using a pin of the micro (VCC_EEPROM). In my idea, the micro should power it only when there has been a writing on the TAG's EEPROM. I would like to implement this by monitoring GPO, but I'm not sure if this functionality would work if the TAG is not powered through Vcc. Can I use the 8 pin version for my application, or should I choose a package with VDCG to implement that? In that case I will connect VDCG to the main VDD line and Vcc to VCC_EEPROM.
